Haha! Yay for Murderbot! I've read the first few in that series. I also read the two Monk and Robot books. ❤
Wonderful video! It’s reassuring to hear a booktuber talking about not pressuring oneself to be quite so obsessed with numbers and quantity. I’m definitely wanting to read longer books, and take my time, even if it means I’ll read fewer books total.
Julian sounds good, Olly!
Hi Olly, Great episode! 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year! I'm glad you're reading some Sherlock Holmes in February's Holmes is Where the Heart is event! 🎉 The hosts are me, Randy from The Literate Texan, Mark from BookTime with Elvis and Greg from Another bibliophile reads. I think it's going to be a lot of fun and a lot of people seem interested in it. Thanks for the shoutout! it means a lot. 🙏
No worries! Really looking forward to it. And apologies to Mark and Greg for missing them!
Lansdale is a very solid author. And, of course Monk is your favorite.... 😃😁🤣
ha ha!
💚🖤
Awesome plans Olly! I’m excited to see the Murderbot show as well.
I'm sure you know but Martha Wells has a new short Murderbot story out called "Home: Habitat, Range, Niche, Territory"
I didn't, thank you!
2023 definitely was an eventful year what with your milestone birthday and whooshing through books.
I think it's based on American Prometheus (re: Oppenheimer), but I'm guessing and too lazy to google. My best fiction books of 2023: Bomber, From the City from the Plough, and Gladiator
Glad I read the comments. I was going to indicate this book. Incredible book, incredible life....
I think I do have a copy of it on my kindle
Yea for more crime books! Love Bernie! There just aren't enough Burglar Who books!! (I left this comment earlier and it disappeared... not sure why... )
I found it interesting to hear you refer to Murderbot as "he." I found that I had internally been referring to MB as "she." Probably, we should refer to MB as one of the alternate pronouns. My favorite singular is "xhe" (pronounced as zh-ee). Also, if you do Movember again, I'd love to see you do a series of "mustache murders" or other such mustache themed reads. There's got to be a horror out there with an evil mustache, right?
That is interesting! That was completely an unplanned pronoun (if that makes sense) so guess it's just how I see the character. Love the idea of mustache themed reads!
I think not till later in the second or 3rd, but murder it does eventually specify a preferred pronoun of it/its. The 2nd is my favorite so far, for the relationship with Asshole Research Transport, but I've yet to read the newest novel! It is such a consistently good series tho, so glad to see you getting on it.
