    Props to whoever was controlling the camera for zooming in so quickly on the eruption as it starts!

      Actually, Live from Iceland moved the camera in that position just a minute before it blew because of a ‘gut feeling’. I watched it live and it was absolutely amazing!

      Could all that Co2 build up in the air flow of the northern pole cause a melting of ice sheets & raise ocean levels

    • @jamielonsdale3018
      @jamielonsdale3018 Před 5 měsíci

      @Edward-6909 Over a year, yes. Over a decade? No. The earth, oceans, and trees absorb so much co2 that if humans weren't producing any except that we exhale, nature (even in its heavily damaged state) would be able to compensate. But that's not all we produce. A human's carbon footprint over their entire life is equal to 1.2 seconds of global energy production. That isn't what you'd save by cutting down. That's what you'd save by never being born.
      But we The Public get blamed for the environment like _we individually_ chose to build a diamond mine in a nature reserve.

    I have tried to line up the video and the fissure map from the Icelandic Met Office on Google Earth to find the exact location of the first vent. If anyone wants to have a look at the location on Google Earth it should be at about 63°53'34.46"N 22°21'52.25"W as far as i can tell, just near the semi-circular crater.

    So why didn't they put in the name of the area that is erupting, just Reykjanes peninsula... that is a much larger area.
    Guess they are scared of the pronounciation 😅
    This eruption is at Sundhnjúkagígar - or Sundhnjúkagígaröð... I prefer the latter one, it is even complex for some Icelanders 🤣

      Icelandic names genuinely look like gibberish

    • @MrPicky
      @MrPicky Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@N3gativeR3FLUX Icelandic names are actually pretty "straight forward" - if you know Icelandic or Old Norse (the language of the Vikings, which Icelandic is derived from). The Icelandic language has not evolved much through the centuries, we still can read books written in ca 1250 or so. The famous eruption of 2010 was in Eyjafjallajökull but that name is actually 3 words combined into one: eyja (island) fjalla (mountains) jökull (glacier). So it is basically named Islandmountainsglacier 😉
