The manual says to start it on the ground by putting your right foot on the handle etc. But I guess in practice you don't worry about that.

This is awful product, do not buy it. i bought it last year, did about 20 cuts. This year is dead, not even sneezing. Did everything including spark plug. Big regrets... Never again...
