You canât help but wonder... who exactly IS the Grinch? The 2000 movie shined a bit of light on his story, but only a dull glow compared to what we donât know. We know heâs a Who, or somewhat related to the Whoâs, as he has the same snout/muzzle as them. Assuming the story about babies coming from parasails is true, and not just avoiding the talk of procreation for the sake of Cindy... where was the Grinch SUPPOSED to go, before he was knocked off course? His skills concerning mechanical devices and craftsmanship manifested just a few years after his âbirthâ. He has exemplary, near superhuman strength. Heâs conniving and cunning, and he stole an entire townâs worth of presents in just a few hours. He can eat glass and ceramic and not get hurt. I suppose Cindyâs father was right. Heâs not a Who, *but a What.*
I actually had a theory about that when I was a kid. I think that the "whats" that the Grinch stems from were once like the whos, possibly even one and the same. over time however, these negative whos, who did not share the rest of their kinds enthusiasm towards the holidays, and slowly they began to change, going from the lovable whos we know to... whatever the Grinch is. poisoned by their own over inventiveness, slovenly attitude, crass personalitys and plain lack positivity, they mutated into these green, super strong and yet very smart "whats" whose main sources of joy are building overly complicated devices with no clear purpose, and others having a bad day. as the two split away, the "whats" felt validated, as the rest of their kind were to busy with the next upcoming holiday to notice that their neighbors, friends, some cases even family were no longer the who they knew, and eventually, they left, all the while not being noticed, until they were gone. seeing as the whos did not notice what happened, I never got written down, and eventually, people forgot. that's why nobody knew who or what the Grinch was, because he was the first one people actually noticed.

Just imagine his whole job is to steal the stones from their various places before Thanos can. It would just be a mad dash for the infinity stones. Why can I almost imagine it being kind of like Bugs Bunny meets Daffy Duck?
This is the song which made me understand that everybody hates and rejects him just because he is ugly and a different color. To me, he is not the villain, everyone else is.

As far as I'm aware someone FINALLY stripped Illumination of the Dr Seuss rights. WB is planning on releasing a lot of movies and short films based on his work as far as I can tell.
So I'd be willing to bet we'll have another Grinch movie sometime within the next 5-6 years.
And considering Illumination isn't involved, it might genuinely have more soul. Hell if we're lucky we might even get a good Lorax adaption.

Honestly speaking, the Grinch isn't really a bad guy. He is just a dude who doesn't like Christmas. Like, it's fine, no need for this whole adventure. And he is kind of mean, but many people are mean, right?
