    Nice video. My records say the serial number of the last regular Super A was 355679. I didn't realize that it took that long to come out with the C-123 in the Super A. Didn't realize they raised the radiator a bit. Great information. They are a very little-known tractor, especially in my area. I don't think I'll find one here, but you never know.

    This is actually a very informational video, one of the best I’ve seen in a wile! Now I know for a fact my Farmall Super A is just a regular super A

    Thanks for the explanation of the differences. Although I'm definitely an Oliver man, I do appreciate all older tractors. I do have a Farmall C.

    Great video. The only thing I knew about a Super A I, was it had a foot throttle. Which would be handy.

    Nice video. I had always heard a A-1 was pretty much a Farmall 100

      In the mid 1950s, IH was focused on improving their popular mid-sized tractors aka, 300, 400. The small tractors and big tractors saw very little changes. The Super WD-9, 600, and 650 tractors are also mechanically identical. By the way, I really enjoyed watching your plow day.

    Great breakdown and you answered my question about whether or not there may be a Super AI-1.

    So my question is if the vin plate came off how do you figure out what you have? Say for instance a cub 47 to 54 looking at the grill how would someone go about finding that info? Lol.

    • @farmall51
      @farmall51  Před rokem +1

      Casting dates. If it's a 47 it would have a number -number- letter . And 1947 would be a (Q). R would be 48 . S would be 49 and 50 would be T So on to 54 being Z.

      I would check the block. The C-123s have C-123 cast on the block. But like he said, check the grille and check for space between the gas tank and the touch control. You can put a C-123 in a regular Super A, or even a regular A. Casting numbers do help, but they're not always reliable. You can easily get a month or more variation in casting numbers on the same tractor, especially the rare ones. We have 2 International 650 gas tractors. The one I have shown a bit all of the casting codes match the year of the serial number (1958 which used D codes.) The other one is a 1957 model. The engine block has an A code (1955) The head has a B code (1956) and the rest of the tractor uses C codes (1957) which matches the serial number of the tractor. I have every reason to believe that the engine is original due to the rarity of the C-350 engine. You just can't find one to drop in the tractor like you can a C-123. But in the case of the Super A1, they will almost definitely have Z codes on the castings. Make sure you check on castings like the bell, transmission and axle housings, as accessories like wheel weights will lead you astray.
