So, Jonathan, this was a good listen, but from my experience, meeting you post concert 3x, you were genuinely welcoming which were not my expectations and my daughter's expectations, it was like you were an old friend we hadn't seen in years! You have never yet behaved entitled or cocky just a Gospel artist who showed the qualification of a Christian - humility. May God continue to bless you!

Jonathan I loved this episode. You came to my church last year and I had no idea who you were but after hearing you sing....I was like I have to follow this young man. That's exactly what I did. every morning I have praise and worship to your music omw to work. I attended you show in Philly this month and it was life changing and an experience I will never forget. Now I get to see the human side of you. You are what this world needs...songs that express how one may really feel but often feel like you can't talk about things because you walk with righteousness. Just finished this episode. I love this gentleman. Jon, You showing your authentic side, continue to. I like this side of you. I haven’t met you, YET, but Lord willing I will. You have a warm, genuine spirit underneath that shyness (hence I know that feeling of shrinking down so no one will approach me. Can’t do that). On to episode 2!

I think people dont want much from the artist. All They want is to feel you are as excited about seeing them as they are about seeing you
This “normalcy” happens in other arenas as well. I used to be a “first lady”, and ppl would treat me differently than regular members almost like I was the First Lady of the US or something. All the while I’m thinking it’s just me. I eat like y’all, yell at my kids like yall, clean my house just like yall. One time I was checking out at the grocery store and ran into a member and they literally said, “can’t believe you do your own shopping”, blew my mind. I felt like I spent significant time trying to be like everyone else. Oh and maybe the reason others are wary of you is bcuz in a lot of instances you hold the power. If they mess up you could literally can them. I’m introverted too, and it has caused issues in my life. I’ve been called stuck up, conceited, mean, and bougie, and the amount of times I’ve been told by random ppl, usually men, to smile lol. Also been told I have rbf so there’s that.😂

I feel you on that being told to smile situation .....I've always been teased or told how much I smile, so imagine my surprise when a Deacon walks up to me between Sunday School and church service and told me to smile, I look like, I had been stung by a bumble bee....excuse me for walking through a mainly empty sanctuary without a huge smile plastered on my face.....I just got irritated thinking about that again....LOL. I need to let that go.
Thoroughly enjoyed this! Y’all are hilarious and real at the same time, especially that conversation about telling ladies they should be smiling! I was a REGULAR target for this when I was younger and it would irritate me so bad because I’m thinking “Sir I just have things on my mind, leave me be!” 😂

I love this real talk about Jon considering the well being of his fellow coworkers because that's stereotypical of artists to not care about others apart of their team. I'm glad you put that out there about yourself because that speaks volumes to your character and heart. At the end of day, you're human like any body else. I love this!

I love the new podcast. This was amazing!! This truly showed the "human" side of you. Also, I love your music from all your albums, so if I met you, yes, I would sing some new and old songs. I felt God brought His music from heaven and blessed you to be the vessel to sing it. When I hear your music, I hear God and that is worth ALL your music being celebrated, even the old. Now, let me tell you why you are special...You ready???.......Because God says so. He gifted you with a talent to bless His people and others for His glory. Remember your special is not about you, but about God getting the glory. We are absolutely nothing without Him. As long as you stay humble as you are, God will continue to exalt you. Be blessed and I pray for God's anointing to flow freely through the rest of the tour for lives to be changed and they see Jesus in their midst. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Jon you're hilarious! I love the new content and I agree with you that sometimes we can be hard on ourselves with the gifts we have. I was talking with my therapist about being nervous singing. She said it's about giving glory to God and not seeking the approval of others. However, we're human so we can work on our craft and know that God created us so He makes no mistake.
