    Like you said, unnecessary to take it off the hub, great strategy with the jack and tie to hold it in place. Great content .

    Thank you Dave, this came in handy when replacing my own shock absorbers. For anyone looking to try this repair themselves, you don't need to remove the scuttleboard if you have a 14mm spanner. If you only have a socket then you'll need to take apart the scuttleboard like I did. Have your jack underneath ready to take the weight once you remove the three big bolts from the shock absorber. Plus the top nut of the shock absorber can be a pain to get off, you'll need a 14mm spanner with an allen key and/or impact drill whilst wedging something between the three threads at the top

Looks just the same as many, cheapo chinese imports with nothing but a small serial number on them. Gonna subscribe i could listen to your demos all day long. Be lucky mate.

I know what you mean about the springs , I’ve got the wee compressors ones that you use with a spanner I would put 3 on as I’m a bit paranoid of the spring popping out or the metal hook in one of the compressors snapping , cheers , top work as usual

    Quite enjoyed this. Last time my Civic went for a test, guy said "Heck its like a new car under here!!" I said "Yeah, just decided to get ahead of it". Struts not exactly a fun job but it gets rid of a lot of clonks! MOTs fair in my view. It does save lives, even if its like going to the dentist.

    • @pascalh.387
      @pascalh.387 Před 6 měsíci

      This klong problem is obviously widespread on civic 8.
      It's caused by the plastic part fitted to the shock absorber spring taking up play with the bearing, isn't it?
      What mileage or year did this happen to you? It happened to me after 12 years and 146,000km.
      Can I only change the plastic part and the bearing? Or do you change everything except the spring?
      Thanks for your feedback

    I did mine yesterday, I was confused as to why you removed the scuttle, washer fluid pipes, side engine bay trim, and the brake caliper. it's not necessary.

    Hello,
    I have a Honda Civic 8 and the front shock absorbers make a rattling noise at the top when compressed on a speed bump.
    It seems that this is a problem with the plastic shock absorber head which takes up play with the bearing, do you agree?
    My car has 146,000 km, do I have to change everything or just the shock absorber bearing?
    Sorry for my English and thank you for your reply!

    Have used Napa shocks a couple of times, mainly for same reason as your punter Dave , camel and sandstorm spring to mind , punters dont appreciate how dangerous our job can be , I always strap the spring to the tool ,for justin , had the same on a civic last year , not much room for movement , I've got one of those clicky wrenches better by hand than gunning it up so tight that it could snap 👍👍
