We did a complete DIY Makeover on our small apartment patio. To maximize our outdoor living space, we transformed our small patio into a cozy cactus & desert theme oasis. Complete with lots a variety of cactus, terracotta pots, Mexican-inspired pottery and décor, a cute bistro table for dining and a beautiful area rug to add softness and texture to our patio. We also spend a full day plant shopping and touring a variety of different plant nurseries in Tucson, Arizona. Our cactus-inspired patio transformation turned out better than expected and makes outdoor living more enjoyable when you have a space that has been made over into a little desert oasis. The wife and I put up bistro lights around the perimeter and adds a nice warm glow to the patio. We are in Maricopa County and a lot of our neighbors keep theirs up year round…apparently, it’s quite common to do in AZ since the weather is nice most of the year.
I would love to hang lights, but we can't! I do love the warm glow and look they give off! Thanks for watching!
Bummer. Is it because of the Mgt. company/landlord? If so, we had an issue with our HOA and had to get creative by keeping the lights below the fence line (where they aren’t visible by any of our neighbors) and adding a rope light along the base of the ground made the space cozy while keeping the HOA happy.

One piece of advice: Have tweezers handy for when you get stuck by your cacti.
