  • Interesting WILD CAMPING Experience in Canada with our Truck Camper
    - Canada Truck Camping Series: Episode 6
    Today we starting to drive back down the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Yoho National Park. Along the drive we stopped at a waterfall and hiked to the Edith Cavell Glacier area, saw tons of wildlife with our last stop of the day in Yoho National Park where we took on the Wapta Falls hike. We then went to go scouting for a dispersed camping spot nearby, however wild camping in some areas of Canada can be quite difficult. Eventually, we found a spot, however, boondocking in Canada is a bit different than boondocking in the USA - it was an interesting experience.

    Wilcox Pass is my favorite hike. I spent 3 weeks in banff and Jasper this year. FYI, similar to the US, there is no drone flying in a National Park. Boondocking along the trans-canada is crowded.
    Wow you saw a lot of wildlife.
    Safe travels

      Correct! Absolutely no drone flying in the National Parks!! We are well aware of those rules and never few our drone there...stock footage for the win! 😀

      I stumbled upon your videos being curious about moving to Colorado as a Canadian. That National Park Corridor is super restrictive almost to a point where you dont want to go visit for fear of breaking rules. Super Touristy. Not even any Rec Sites let alone crownland camping.@@JeanieMarie

    Exactly why i avoid campgrounds. Recreation sites (usually smaller campgrounds, less busy, cheaper, less amenities) are better, and dispersed is even better. In canada we just call dispersed camping backcountry camping.
    I just got my Palomino back from the RV dealer, had a leak in the vent above the bed :( but its fixed now, time for more camping!

    It is definitely rude for others including kids to walk through or on your site. The parents should tell their children not to do this. If this happens to us we would just tell them to go around the site and explain the boundaries. One year our site was right near a path that went to the beach and people just thought they could cut through. Parked our car right in front of it blocking the way. They got the hint. It is unfortunate that this happens but some sites are more vulnerable to this based on their location.

      Yes, I'm sure the holiday didn't help. However, we did talk to a park ranger at our Campground and they said it's crazy busy starting in June through October... and this si normal! LOL So I guess, It might always be like that according to the ranger.

      It happened to us up here in Maine, that's One of the reasons why we don't do campgrounds as often the other is the cost has gone up considerably.
      We hit the old logging roads and places like that.

    the tripod effect is prevalent at gas stations. i can go into the lot, literally the only car, go into the store, literally the only customer. but when i walk out, everybody is there. like what the hey?

    This video doesn’t really depict Canadian public land camping well. If you look up public land use zones in Alberta you will find maps all over the province that butt up against Banff and Jasper National park. You can get lakefront, River front, mountain valley etc. where you won’t see another camper for your entire trip.

    public land kids will be kids do you really feel that intruded by kids having fun your living come on!

    • @JeanieMarie
      @JeanieMarie  Před 10 měsíci +4

      Yes, when I pay for a campsite at a campground and I'm sitting in my camper and they are looking in at me .... absolutely feeling intruded. It's like someone coming up to my house and looking in on me in my house OR children coming to my yard and playing. I respect children playing, but I don't want them in my space. If you like that, great. I absolutely dont.

    • @jamieklunder7301
      @jamieklunder7301 Před 9 měsíci +1

      I grew up camping in campgrounds and we kids absolutely did not go into other people's sites. We stayed on the paths, vacant sites, or public areas. We were taught to respect people's space. There are plenty of places for kids to play that are not in someone else's site. 😊
