    I wanted to thank everyone for the amazing comments! Some of you asked about my neck. I just had major facial reconstructive surgery a few months ago due to the Goldenhar. They put a trake in for a few months while i heal because of swelling in my neck and i have difficult airway. I actually get my trake out in a few weeks!

    Wow, as a blind person myself I can definitely relate to some of what she says. Especially when you're out with someone they want to talk to the other person as if you're not there I want to jump up and throw myself at them and say hey I'm right here hello, but I know that's not the right thing to do the best thing to do is educate the ignorant folks and I'm not saying that in a bad way it's just uneducated people just grind my gears because they don't see the person they see the disability and that's sickening get with it people we're All in this together here's another one, when you're at the store by yourself which I've been many a Time when you're standing at the counter, needing help from a clerk or a cashier or customer service if any kind they ignore you like you're not there. Do you have any idea how humiliating that is? But I have adapted she's got some good parents behind her that's really awesome so did I. That's a good thing have a good supportive family behind you because if you don't there's where the trouble lies. Go Sarah do what you do do what works for you I am.

      I’m so sorry you have to deal with that stuff 🥲 But as a seeing person I just want you to know so many times people do have good intentions. But most don’t know people with disabilities so they’re unsure how to help & don’t ask how they can out of fear they’ll unintentionally offend that person. It’s easy to forget that someone who’s blind wouldn’t be able to see a person standing there TO ask for help. But never feel small for asking for a little help. It’s something we all need from time to time ♥️

      I wish people wouldn't assign morality to ignorance. It's nothing to be ashamed of; it's okay to be uneducated. I think the worst thing about ignorance is that people don't even know they're ignorant and so they don't seek education on whatever it is; namely their roles in systemic bigotry such as ableism

    Hi Sara's kids!! If u are reading this:) Im so thankful that you guys shared your story. I have a shared experience of growing up with a mom in and out of the hospital and a dad that rambles (and is KING of getting peoples buttons pushed:) I'm 19 years old now. I am grateful for EVERYTHING(honestly) and gained insight on life through having to be very independent as a kid. I think something that this channel highlights so beautifully is YES your mom is just like everyone else BECAUSE WE ARE ALL SO MIRACULOUSLY DIFFERENT. That doesn't mean that feeling out of place should be normal. sometimes it is hard and we need help:) THATS what we are doing here; creating awareness, breaking down walls, and spreading community. It does take time and work to overcome certain challenges, but LOVE shows us to stay awake during those challenges and find the magic in your soul ngl. EMPATHY is a huge example of the love that is to be gained from vulnerable situations. You kids are awesome and I would love to be your friend. MUSIC is amazing... its my bridge to spiritually. I also listen to rock n roll, just like my pa. So rock on people

    This was so informative. It’s so important to show everyone respect and dignity. Ignoring them is so hurtful. I have disabling conditions, but I look “normal.” But when I’ve had to use a wheelchair some people (not the majority just some) have the tendency to direct questions or conversations at whoever is pushing me. But those experiences pale to what Sara has had to endure. And despite these experiences, she is such an even-keeled kind-spirited woman.

    its very nice to see a mom with a disability and have her kids not mind at all, and it for it to be completely normal. I don't have a disability, I'm bipolar, but my biggest fear is that one day when I have kids that they'll mind that I'm different.

    • @insomniacraccoon
      @insomniacraccoon Před 2 lety +5

      Be honest with them about it! It doesn't have to be a taboo topic, it's just something that some people have. Some people have dark skin, some people have freckles, some people like boys AND girls, some people have bipolar! Normalize differences, and raise them up with the knowledge of how to ask questions in a respectful way if they don't understand something. Kids don't really think too much about that kind of thing. I'm sure you'll have no problems with your future kids. :)

The visibility that this channel gives about all these different contexts in which some people live is great. It's cool when kids and parents have the same music tastes, music is usually really important, especially with teenagers since it can help you communicate feelings you can't always put to words. As another Sara and Rammstein fan it was fun to learn about your life and family, they seem like a great bunch of people.
