When I was a teenager, I remember pondering if Christ was STRONG enough for me to trust (in a violent, lying, attacking world); I saw Christ as the rejected Savior by the Jews and the weak God of the Catholics - the Protestants were moving towards SJ & ending "prejudice", so I sought out my own God until I was far enough from the church to recognize the TRUTH. Now all of my grown children attend church b/c I shared a Christ that can meet you in the toughest circumstances.

Much is misunderstood by preachers today that is clearly written in Scripture. Relevant to your point about appreciating the ferocious strength of the Lion of Judah is Mat 11:12 “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence [or is forcibly entered, NASB 95 note], and violent men take it by force." CS Lewis used to call this "muscular Christianity" which is anathema to most of today's effeminate Churchianity. This is why I like Doug Wilson despite disagreeing with him on much. At least wilson knows that "It Is Good To Be A Man", book title pun intended. My first 6 months in America as a 9yo Spanish only speaker were spent homeless in the gang infested streets of NYC circa1966. I am nauseous with the Laodicea ascendant modern Churches that teach contra-Biblical ideas like "unconditional Love" (did the Father go after the wayward son BEFORE that son repented?). Tell me how IF Love were unconditional why there's a Hell. I agree the conditions for salvation are NOT found in the sinner BUT, neither shall an unrepentant sinner be saved. We can argue about Who or whom gets that sinner to repent later BUT there ARE conditions to God's Love;.
I personally entered the Kingdom in an intellectually violent way: by trying to disprove the Bible as an agnostic some 40+ years ago. The only book I have never found grievous error in, either religious, scientific, ancient, modern is that Bible. I went at it with every caustic weapon at my disposal to find errors. I have NEVER had even a shadow of a doubt since becoming a Christian because I entered it with a ferocious intellectual attack.
This is why women ought to cover their heads and stop publicly rebelling against the authority of men. That whole passage is rooted in the first 3 chapters of Genesis. The command to cover the head for women, and conversely NOT to cover the head (ie the effeminate Papist "priests' who so like their long flowing dresses), remains in force. The Bible did not change in the 1960s. Interesting how for 2k years everyone, even the most heretical Churches, understood that women ought cover their heads until just after Vatican 2 in the 60s. This by the way is ON POINT. It is a VISIBLE sign of the deeper disease of modern Churches: feminism. Even the pastors today who are more afraid of God than men; are more afraid of women than God. BTW, 44 years happily married.

I completely agree with Pastor Doug here and I think he touched on it, but I would say a woman absolutely does want her husband to lead her and make decisions and stick to his guns, however she wants a leader that makes those decisions thoughtfully and selflessly. Polls show that up to 70% of the people filling our pews are women... and it's worse here in Canada, where Pietism has taken deep, deep root. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on this. Pietism seems to always get thrown under the bus when it was a response to dry scholastic orthodoxy. Pietists went out built schools for orphans, sent missionaries into the far corners of the world. The Methodists who basically were Anglican pietists were some of the most energetic Christians this world has seen. I'm not quite sure how the horse back riding evangelists, who roughed it for years, can be considered feminized. It would seem that the guys who were quite content sitting in Universities on the east coast complaining that George Whitefield was too emotional were the effeminate ones.

Because as a Christian, you think she'd want to. But every time I try to, it's like I'm inconveniencing her. She'd rather do what she wants to do. I feel like all I can really do at this point is pray that she'd become more interested. And you might be thinking maybe my approach is wrong. But I've tried several different approaches. Even when she acquiesces, I can tell she's not paying attention. It's really hard not to get bitter about it. I just want to say, "Can't you just give God 20 minutes!!!" That said, I wonder if you have tried asking her what time of day would be most convenient for her to have a family devotion? I know when my husband involves me by asking my thoughts on something, it makes me more inclined to care about doing it well. You may also emphasize to her that you are trying to be obedient to the Lord by being the spiritual leader in your home. Her willingness to come along side you in support is imperative for your success as a couple, and you might remind her so.
If she is truly avoiding family devotions because she does not see the value in studying God’s Word, then that is a sign she may not actually be a Christian, or at least not a very mature one. I would definitely encourage you to be firm, but loving, and to be praying for your wife and marriage often. I will pray that the Lord would direct you both according to His Will, and that you will be able to work together in growing in your marriage.

Number two, take a firm stand against homosexuality. No noodling, no waffling, and no caving. Number three, be sure that your worship requires movement and participation. Men are made to move. If that is so, it seems that there was an error made in judgement. Just because some "professing Protestant Christian" may be a terrible example and is a complete hypocrite when it comes to their convictions has no bearing on the validity of the belief system itself.
If I buy a brand new machine and the machine comes with a detailed manual that tells me how to do everything the machine is capable of, then you would say that manual is perfectly sufficient and understandable to guide me in PROPER use of that machine. If, however, you decide to only skim certain sections, misread others, or even completely skip or deny other parts of that manual and instead just try to work the machine and run into a problem, is the manual wrong or to blame? Not in the slightest. A poor excuse for a Protestant has no more sway on the truth of the worldview than does an extremely faithful Buddhist, Muslim, Roman Catholic, or even an atheist.

There is a theological misconception that many proponents of proper sexual order suffer from holding. This misconception is displayed in their selection of a word to describe each sex’s designed conduct. The word they use to do this is “role.” Now the use of the word “role” to describe the God who is three persons is an abominable modalistic heresy, but it is no less detestable when it is used to describe man who was created in two sexes. The godly do not assume roles as they conduct their biological design since all aspects of their being and behavior both the male and female are comprehended in God’s design and are ideally fulfilled in Christ.
The theology of the Scriptures both Law and Gospel comprehend, informs and enforces this biological and behavioral designed conduct. It is important for us to understand that much of Scripture is taken from the conduct of people, male and female, both good and bad and that those people’s sex-specific conduct expressed God’s Word before it became the written Word. It should not seem a strange concept that God’s mind was revealed (done) in spirit, rock and the flesh of saints and sinners, both male and female, before it was written down by inspired holy men of old. It needed to be written though, because since the fall man has had a sin benighted ethical perception of the creation. It needed to be written because all men were not able to look over God’s shoulder as He wrote His glory with the creation, and all but two people could not witness the fall and disordering of the sexes, nor could most people from the past and most certainly those of the present and future view the male and female saints of God as He wrote His salvation narrative in their flesh and sex-specific conduct which eventually culminated in the flesh and sex-specific conduct of His incarnate Son.
Naturally, as previously referenced, because of sin and without the written Word, men's and women’s ethical perception cannot from what was created, rightly see their sexual place and conduct as fully and clearly as it is shown in Ephesians 5:22-33. As this passage shows, a man’s designed male conduct is to be Christ-like and a woman’s designed female conduct is to be Church-like. This sex-specific behavior is not beyond man’s designed conduct, but without the informing and transforming power of God’s written Word it is beyond man’s ethical understanding and ability to perform.
Without God’s written Word clearly informing of this and other positive and negative spiritual and sexual conduct illustrations throughout Scripture, then salvation would not have a divine and human framework. As it is, this framework is itself framed by two spiritual and sexual events. The first is the creation in the garden of the woman from the son of God’s side and the other is the creation on Golgotha of the Bride from the Son of God’s side. In these two events, we have the theology/biology of salvation. The Gospel (although obscured because of sin) can be seen by reference to Scripture in man’s biological design -- a biology which by nature gives rise to a paralleled sexual with salvation order most fully expressed in the marital union of the sexes.
Illustrations of this biological design and its violation Christ most certainly uses throughout Scripture to reveal Himself.
If the word “role” is used at all to describe man, it should be used only to describe the pretences of those who pretend marriage by fornication, love with lust, good with evil, truth with lies, and spirituality by the worship of demons. Man outside of Christ plays many roles leading to eternal death, but man in Christ plays not but fulfills his designed place and conduct to display the Gospel of Jesus Christ leading to eternal life.

Ephesians 4:12 is clear that the men fulfilling the offices in the church are given to “equip the saints (men & women) for works of ministry”. We are all ministers. The majority of effective “ministry” is done at the personal level and is the result of a “saint” having been made equipped by the Holy Spirit Who uses the written Word of God and the administration of it through “apostles…prophets…evangelists…pastors & teachers.”

He is making a positive claim and should be able to back it up with scripture. This man misrepresents the word of God, you cannot just pluck a scripture out of context and make up your own doctrine. You have to read every scripture in context with the whole word of God and build line upon line as you gain understanding. Our teacher is Messiah, not these false representatives Who preach what your tickling ears want to hear. The scriptures say we are to submit to each other as a body of Messiah. Messiah’s body of believers includes God’s daughters(we are half the body). Our Messiah is in heaven, He is the one we must obey/pay attention to/ listen to, not man. From the beginning man has usurped authority over woman (that’s why they were kicked out of the garden it was “because of the man” who did not repent, go back and read Genesis). Some men have snuck into the church and have turned it upside down to make it seem like the woman’s trying to usurp authority over him just because she wants to use her gifts given to her by God. This is so laughable since for thousands of years we’ve lived in a patriarchal society where religious men think it’s their job to silence woman and suppress their gifts. All true believer women want to do is to be able to use their gifts without men silencing them just because they are a woman and telling them they can’t when Messiah tells them they must. As far as I have seen, women that love God with all their heart and others as themselves who are true believers, have no desire to usurp authority over their man and be the high priest between them and Messiah. Some men are just afraid of losing their perceived power over women. All healthy relationships requires each person to treat the other person as they would want to be treated themselves. That means all people need love and respect all relationships need give and take there are no double standards. God is just And teaches equity, and hates those who oppress others. He tells us to stand up for those who cannot speak up for themselves not shove them down and silence them and suppress them and tell them they can’t use their gifts. You cannot treat a woman like you want to be treated when you think you are the ruler over her. When you think you are the authority over her and her boss just because of the sex you were born with. God tells us not to be unequally yoked. That means we are supposed to be equal, not one person has more power than the other.

It says in verse 14, the woman fell into transgression but in Genesis it says they were kicked out of the garden “because of the man.” This is a letter Paul is responding to and we should not pluck out one odd scripture and build a doctrine around it especially when Peter warns us that Paul’s letters are hard to understand. God is not double minded, He does not change his mind like a man, He is not inequitable, or unjust. Messiah told us to treat others as our self not as our slaves or subservient partner. The men are not effeminate today because they have appropriated the bride-bridegroom metaphor to their personal lives, but because they are not appropriating enough! Wilson’s methodology for doing theology proper is problematic. He is importing creaturely categories of masculinity and feminist back into the internal life of God. He’s got a very distorted view of masculinity. It actually takes more strength to be able to be gentle than rough, it requires more self-control to temper the impulse to speak rather than listen, more courage to feel in with the person’s pain rather than to ignore and not think about it.

There is no evidence that Paul actually held these ideas about women as voiced in 1 Timothy as there were many gospels and epistles that are attributed to names that had nothing to do with the writing of them. I would like to see anything specific in the Bible that speaks of masculinity verses femininity that is not oppressive in nature and not simply an example of ancient cultural values that should no longer be embraced. If biblical relationships between men and women are what you want then why are you not preaching for men to have as many wives and concubines as they can afford? Rather it is established, both in canonicity and normativity, by divine inspiration prompted by the Holy Spirit.

A group of fallible men got together and said that and millions upon millions have believed them without question to our own detriment. A careful study of the Bible proves otherwise unless God is inconsistent to the point of insanity. The biblical text is amazing and wonderful, but also demonstrably and objectively wrong in some places and works of myth and legend in others. It was written by people who were more often than not absent from the events they wrote about, usually separated by hundreds of years, who often disagreed on the nature of God and Jesus and the Holy Ghost. The Jesus of John the Revelator could not be any more different in nature than the Jesus of Mathew. Nothing could be easier than demonstrating that the Old Testament never even mentions Jesus. And, yet, people continue to pretend that these authors agree and are talking about people and things that they are not. That should give all of us pause.

Revelation 21:8-8 (ESV) But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
This applies to You whether or not you believe it. I could prove it to you if you were humble, which would bless you beyond your wildest imagination.
But as it is, you are an enemy of God and you will reap what you are sowing.
