    Bought one with your code for the last mile for my commute with the train (airplane).
    The Bus and Public Transport bikes are getting so unreliable/expensive in the Netherlands.
    Only problem it rains alot and any electric vehicle that's not like a bicycle or scooter is illegal. I'm hoping it looks enough like a normal skateboard cops will leave me alone.😅

    10:33 Preach on! There are all sorts of niches esk8 companies can fit in that are beyond faster and more powerful - stuff like size, functionality, safety / reliability, and ease of use / quality of life features are what we should be clamoring for. You can already get boards that are ludicrously fast. Let’s find other interesting things to focus on.

    I think you are spot with your rant! I think most people will want to dip their toes in to thr world of esk8 with a reliable but affordable skateboard. Furthermore, the short board design is more accessible to many than the long board design. Im probably a good example as my first esk8 was a Bustin x Magneto board primarily for its Board design, shape, and being a US based company with excellent customer service. It has the same ESC and works well plus a low profile battery design that won’t get too damaged going up and down curbs. In hindsight I probably would have gone with the ripple and then eventually added a long board for additional distance. Great reviews. Keep it up!

    Your rant at the end of this review is bang on right man. I'm not the biggest fan of these really short boards nor do I like the really big boards I prefer the middle around 36inch deck. I like the style of this deck with a timber deck and less like some sort of apocalytic born machine and that it's travel friendly.

    They need to have an "Electric Hour" in the morning and evening so a lot of people can get around on these and e-bikes during that time.
    It's probably good for the economy in some ways, and bad in others.
    It's more likely that someone will stop off and get something to eat (once they start serving healthy food), or stop at a shop.

    I agree this is great for the general skateboard market, they just need to advertise like crazy to get people aware of it. Anyone that bothers to do a bit of research would know this is a better buy than an Amazon board, but they need to get the attention of idiots that don’t research before buying stuff which I’m afraid is a larger group than it should be

  • @contorta960
    @contorta960 Před 10 měsíci +1

    Very very nice direction things are going in. Some things I'd love is TKP trucks, hollows, (as opposed to RKP). Because manual grinds are sketch with the kingpin facing that way.
    Also smaller wheels. 65mm tops, 50 - 65 region. Secondly experiment with harder durometeres, 90a, 97a, 99 even. I'm talking a transition eskate board. Something purely for the skatepark. I know no brakes with hard durometeres but don't need them in the skatepark.
    Also truck widths, I hate wheels that stick out. Would be great to have options with narrower trucks where the wheels are parallel with the deck or even just out of sight from above. Currently all the boards the wheels stick out so so far.
    Battery enclosure, see Bustin Boards, try flat and balanced for grinds on.
    A kick nose would be awesome too .
    Love the direction this boards gone in but Bustin and a french eskate company already have equal boards to this. If you want to do something really different experiment with what I said above. Transition eskating is so much fun. Can skate lines you can't on a non electric. And it helps me progress on non electric having a throttle. Speed is your friend on transition.
    Overall this board looks great just it's been done. Wanna do something different those are the things that haven't been done yet. And a board like that would appeal to transition and street style skaters. The longboard market is saturated. Short, trick and transition board market is barely tapped into.

    • @DanielKwan
      @DanielKwan  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Comparable to regular boards but if you want extremely agile, you’ll be able to set up a similarly sized regular board to be more agile than the Ripple. Surfskates in general would be more agile than boards with RKP trucks, especially if comparing similar sizes. Ripple is noticeably more agile than Wave.

      I never tried this board on hills but generally speaking, Ripple’s braking performance on a downhill slope is likely not as good as boards with bigger motors. On flat ground it felt perfectly fine. I wouldn’t recommend Ripple for a hilly place. It’d be a lot of stress on a small battery.

    What's its hill climbing ability like with an 85kg rider, and top speed is?

    • @DanielKwan
      @DanielKwan  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Probably won't do well on hills. Top speed...30 kph? I forget. It's quite a bit less powerful than Exway Wave.

      @@DanielKwan one video I found claimed the top speed was 19/20mph but the main reason I asking is I'm highly interested in seeing how it compares to those cheap single hub motor esk8's for £150 (Aimed at kids) They have awful brakes and can't climb 10% hills!

    ironic how my 2020 enskate r3 mini has better specs and it's just 100g heavier. they'll need to come with a better deal, like real +10 miles while keeping the weight. i do like the board however.

      @@DanielKwan well it has a hobbywing esc, samsung cells, 90mm wheels/hub motors and it's probably faster/punchier at the same range/weight without the fancy lights. Not something that I would recommend paying full price nowadays but I got mine brand new for $200 from a second hand marketplace and it became my commuting board.

  • @danli9884
    @danli9884 Před 10 měsíci +1

    ripple seem like the perfect board. I just wish the wheels were bigger (100mm+) and the battery removable with simple latches. I wouldn't mind paying 600 bucks for those features. I like the weight, deck, lights and etc. Right now I am riding a modified Stoke board with a 99watt hr battery, unity and gummies. I went to korea recently. Cut my finger reassembling the board. I hate picking up my board over a small crack more than necessary...

      Or the tynee mini 3 / mini 3 pro ?
      Also, why run a 99WH battery on the stoke ? it comes with a 140 - 150wh o_O
      ANY issues with your stoke ? How many parts have broken so far ? -_-

    damn I know that’s because of the esc’s limitations and budget but the remote’s display looks ugly af compared to the other exway’s remotes

    This thing is gonna get like 2 miles of range. I got an X1 Max two weeks ago and the range is abysmal - 8 miles. I'm 155lbs and this was at chill speed most of the time. Exway range is the biggest lie in the industry, and I don't think Daniel is being totes honest about it...he weighs significantly more than me, so the only way he got 7 miles on a 99wh pack is if he's secretly going like 4 mph the whole time.

      The roads / pavement in your videos look higher quality then other regions, maybe smooth roads help a lot with the range ?
