For anyone struggling with the F chord, instead of doing a full barre F you can just do a half barre F where the tip of your index finger plays the first fret of the B and high E strings, you’ll strum from the D string down instead of starting on low E. You’re taking the bass F and Bb out of the chord but it’s still an F chord and trust me those bass notes won’t be missed by like 90% of people. I first learned to play F that way in Future Days by Pearl Jam and since then I’ve played every F chord that way because barre chords hurt my wrist (climbing injury).
Alternatively you could just transpose it to the key of G and play G, D, Em, C. It sounds a little different but it’s the same I, V, vi, IV progression, but way easier to play imo. And to replace his Dm (ii) you would just play Am.

To everyone commenting on the difficulty of the "F" chord: You can play an F chord by taking the two lower fingers of the C chord and moving them up one string.
Edit for clarity: moving your fingers up, meaning pitch. So move each finger to the next smaller string.

Calling it a problem is a bit of a stretch. It can be a little redundant sometimes but there’s a reason it sells records.
Also the majority of mainstream rock music isn’t using more than 4 chords generally anyway. I do think it can be a hinderance in people learning guitar at a more advanced level but that’s kind of up to the person learning and not the pop music industry.

That being said I do recognize that that is a “me” problem and the level of passion I feel for music somebody else holds for a variety of other things. Music is just very personal to me and I find it upsetting when it’s broken down into a rigid formula guaranteed to sell records.

I love listening to complex music, most of my favorite music in the world is super complex. But that doesn’t mean the simple music is bad or that it’s hurting the music industry.
