- Daniela Fedele and her family went for a walk Saturday morning and on their way back home they spotted a baby wrapped in a towel abandoned on the ground.
35 years ago my husband and I adopted an abandoned baby. He was found with the umbilical cord still attached, at the base of a dumpster in 26 degree winter weather. He is a wonderful man, graduated valedictorian, earned a college degree, served in the Marines, and is a firefighter. He was the influence behind the Texas law making it legal to abandon babies at fire stations, etc. There is zero excuse to abandon babies. We located the woman who found our son and she sent him cards for the rest of her life.

Has your son tried to find his egg and sperm donors' families? As I try to put myself in his shoes, I can think of several good reasons why he might not want to, but I can think of even more good reasons he might. You sound very proud of your son, and you very much deserve to be.

This baby had no chance of surviving if she wasn’t found when she was. The heat of the day, without being fed, or cared for would have caused her death easily. This young couple saved her life. Terrible that someone just left this poor baby like she was garbage.

My husband found an abandoned girl baby when he was about 13 years old, around 1964. Him and a friend were walking by a goodwill bin that people had filled to overflowing. They heard a noise and thought it was a radio. After a little digging, they found the baby. It was even written up in the local newspaper. He would love to find out what happened to her.
So glad your husband found that baby. The baby is now 60 years old. I was born in 1964.
She might be looking for him and has been since the Internet and social media has gotten so many search groups.
He could try calling that police department to ask for her name, and he could maybe get in touch with her

I had a lump In my throat listening to this Lady. I could hear her sadness, anger and fear for that poor baby. The image of that little baby under a towel will never leave her. I just hope she realizes what a blessing she and her family were for that baby.

This child's mother could be a missing/kidnapped and endangered child/teen or a woman long held captive! We've seen the stories nationwide. It is curious to have seen a young male abandoning the child.
He left it alive and well to be found. Maybe it was not safe with the mom

This was literally the first thing I thought. There's some woman being held captive and forced to have a baby outside of a hospital/without medical services, and the baby was thrown away to help hide the crime.

The people who need to know the safe haven law don't know the safe haven law. There needs to be a Nationwide campaign getting out the message about the safe haven law so this kind of thing can be avoided.

Oh, no that may cost more many, like building unwed mothers homes (like 1950s-1970s unwed mothers homes). It might cost more $$$ to vigorously advertise for good foster parents, and change better adoption guidelines that doesn't include adoptive parents that have to be so wealthy. (And, forces American parents to go overseas to adopt bcus adoption guidelines in the US demand parents have so much money).

As Americans, we need to ask ourselves why someone would feel so desperate, hopeless and fearful as to abandon a new born infant along a walking trail in extremely hot weather. I am so grateful the baby was found by this family, and that she will be adopted by a loving caring family who will love her with all their hearts.
I don't think the guy was desperate, hopeless or fearful. I think he was a degenerate person with no moral sense. Leaving an hours-old infant to the elements in a TOWEL shows no empathy as well as a belief that the infant was disposable. Makes me wonder if the guy has committed other murders.

No one can force anyone to do anything they don’t want to. You can always put the baby up for adoption or take it to a fire station, police station or orphanage. the young man who abandoned the baby was probably panicking and didn't "want anyone to know" but when found, should be held fully accountable and made an example of. He had SO MANY OPTIONS and chose the cowardly way out for himself CHOOSING to let a newborn suffer and possibly die.
He might be a pimp, a trafficker or a coyote. Nothing guarantees he's the father.
There are so many ways to give a unwanted newborn a chance for a full life, leave them at a police station, fire department or hospital. How could anyone with an ounce of humanity do this, the Angels were looking after this baby by having this wonderful couple find her. Just so happy she is safe.

Fire stations who try to force huge questionnaires. And, some cities try to track parents to press criminal charges. Anyway, the kid left the baby and a good area and I bet you that the kid hid nearby to make sure the baby was found safe.
Yes but some people like underage teens won’t know that unless educated beforehand, given the resources or researching themselves. Sometimes these young girls hide the pregnancy from their family and end up giving birth alone in their bathroom, outside or random public places. I’ve seen other similar news stories like this over the years. Sometimes the father isn’t even aware of the pregnancy.

Did the “mother” ask him to dispose of the baby? Are they trafficking this woman or women and this is a part of something much bigger than we think? Was she wanting to kill her daughter so the “dad” placed her there? I hope investigators get Justice for this newborn.
Questions I thought of as well, was the baby taken by an abusive father or did the father at least have the wherewithall to consider that neither parent were mentally fit to care for the baby and he only had the brain capacity (because of drugs or mental health issues) to leave the baby where he knew people walk daily.

If they were trafficking, they would have sold the baby on the black market. Unfortunately there are sickos who would pay a lot of money for an infant to abuse.
This woman could be held hostage somewhere and that guy may have just wanted rid of the baby, unlikely I know but until the mother is found who knows .
We can all make up some fantasy story for this heinous act but ultimately the mother and that cowardly “man” should be up on attempted murder charges.
Pure evil. To drop a defenseless infant on the ground, to suffer; then die is premeditated evil. So thankful this family was there to save this child. I do wonder about the birth mother. Is she another victim, or complicit?
As this baby was abandoned by a man with placenta still attached, I wonder where her mother is and is she alright. Did this man take the baby from an unwilling mother who was too weak to stop him? Why aren’t people showing concern for the mother as well as the baby? It could be that she seriously needs help too. 😢
Umbilical cord was still attached, not the placenta. And they probably only meant the stump, not the whole cord.
When they find the parents they should be charged with attempted murder. I don't care your circumstances, there are a lot of other options like the woman mentioned. Zero excuse for this.

Please tell the young people that you know that you can safely surrender a newborn baby without any repercussions or criminal charges. You don't have to give your name or have them contact your family. Do it safely and avoid prison. Hospitals fire stations and police stations will all accept unwanted newborns😢

My children are grown and gone, I loved being a mom. I would have taken it in and nurtured loved and cared for it. So happy they went out for a family walk early.

I could not hear at their meeting so I’m glad I was able to have kids as the hoops to jump through are more than I can possibly do. I haven’t heard back from them. I guess you can say it’s hard for someone like me. I’m glad it was in my the lords hands and not organizations.

I hope the mum is okay. It makes it a little more worrying that is was a man who abandoned the baby. Of course there are a million different things that could be going on, but it immediately makes me wonder if maybe it's a domestic situation where she's being controlled and isn't allowed to leave.

Maybe. I think her backyard backs the trail, and she watched this family and this woman for a long time. I thought perhaps she wanted her to raise the baby, so the bf abandoned it where she was found.
It was just as easy to drop her off at a hospital. And if he wanted to kill her, plenty of other options than having her bake in the sun. That's why I think this family was chosen.

I’m so happy and grateful this family took that walk today. I can see how upset the woman is, saying she can’t get the picture of finding the baby out of her head. This could have been so much worse and I’m thankful for the family being in the right place at the right time ❤

I would’ve adopted the baby after I reported the child. That poor baby did not deserve to be thrown out there like a dog. I’m grateful that someone found that innocent baby.

It could be a teenage girl who hid her pregnancy and gave birth at home. Possibly a brother or boyfriend who was too young to drive who abandoned the baby where someone would be sure to find it but you are correct, this was extreme dangerous for the baby's well-being to be left in the sun or where an animal or something else might have hurt or the baby or worse
Whatever person left the baby on a well traveled path , knew they could not care for the baby and did them a favor .The parent were obviously not mentaly stable enough to care for it

How can you look after a newborn working full time?
CPS will place her with a family. If they don't find the mother or father & the baby is put up for adoption you would have to apply just like everyone else. Less of a chance though, since you are not in this state.

Well at least they left it on a walking trail expecting someone to find it, wrapped in a blanket protected from the sun. That is much better than a garbage can and shows at least some type of humanity going on. Clearly desperation of some sort. Economic times are worsening, we will see more of this.
Our society needs to not encourage this. All babies want their real mothers & fathers. People are going to need to face reality and everyone needs to help a bit.

Why do people have babies if they're not going to take care of them this is unbelievable really really sick people
Because they have no choice.....and what is sick, is that they cannot get the healthcare they need, when they need it.
Unfortunately because of current restrictive abortion laws these sorts of scenarios will become much more common. It isn’t just adult women, but teenagers and young girls who feel they have few options.
That's why every fire station should have a baby box in the wall.
All you do is place the baby into it close the door & walk away.
The door locks & sets off an alarm so they baby can be immediately cared for.
Even more important that we get out word about the safe haven laws.
All you do is walk into a fire station, police or a hospital & hand the baby over.
You don't need to give a name or anything.
But we also need to get these damn restrictive laws removed.
