- You wont come across this deal again guys, check it out! RUNNING AND DRIVING 2005 Nissan Altima! High Miles but high quality to come from a scrap pile heh? This thing purrs! and drives too! Its going to need a few things here and there but come on! This thing is GOING to find a new home if I have to take it myself! Too nice to scrap for sure! Yea yea yea I know Im not a nissan fan , but Ill even admit that a soft spot has grown for such a decent machine. It didnt even hesitate to start when we tried! She really deserves someone to put her back on the highway! Her days arent done yet! Thank you all for watching guys! Drop a comment down below and let us know what you think! Im WAY WAY behind on comments right now but Im doing my best. We will see you in the next one guys!
It never ceases to amaze me, the condition of vehicles that people scrap. I use my vehicles up, usually keep them 15-20 years before I get rid of them. Mostly because the frame is rusted out (I live in the rust belt) or it costs 3 or 4 times the price of the vehicle to fix it.
God damn i gotta come to wherever you live. Here in ohio $800 gets you a rusted-out late 90s grand prix thats got over 200,000 miles on the clock
In Chicago that'd go for $2K.
Grand prix’s are good as long as they got the 3.8 and arent rusted to the point that they wont pass inspection
dunkin dounut ohio only has an emission inspecton so people drive these cars until the rust causes it to snap
Well my motto is "drive it till the wheels fall off, and then put the wheels back on and drive some more"
Or in this case till the seat falls through the floor
the car had 240k miles on it
I like how garbage can like every door sounds when opened, closed, trunk too. Such a solidly built device that one is.
Blows my mind! Have people in SC never heard of Craigslist?!? You could get an easy 1k for it there!! Instead they recycle it????
Steve B it's easier for a busy person.... I worked in a chemical plant before retirement..... one over time shift would pay the difference between scrap and Craigslist....and you know how many junkie's you have to put up with when you put a 1000$ car on Craigslist??? Usually someone at the plant had a kid that took mine but I scrapped a couple I wouldn't sell to someone I knew
I always get emails asking how low I will sell it sight unseen, and I have gotten the Nigerian Prince emails. You never know who's trying to scam you. Not to mention a lot of no shows.
Nahh . People probably don't have any $$ like the problem where I live. Too many dreamers, Crappy people. It could take 1-2 months to sell the vehicle so they just junk it. I can't sell 10 dollar household stuff on CL here w/o getting jerked around
That's why these cars end up at auctions or junk yards. Dealers cant keep these sitting around for 1-2 months or longer.
Steve B id say 2k!
I had a 95 Maxima I loved...well balacned comfortable and quick. Miss the old days of good Nissan...
Never can understand how somebody can scrap something that they could sell for a grand or 2. For a 13 car it’s not bad.
70brine I agree. They could have put it on Craigslist and got about $1500- it's tax season, it would have sold quick.
I agree totally but as time goes by - it seems that more and more folks are treating things as disposable as well as just getting lazy. A guess I have is that because he mentions putting a coil pack in that whomever had it had some shop tell him/her to expensive to repair - just buy a new one and finance it for say 72 months as one scenario.
Either way - could have gotten more from Craiglist...
MarlinMR7 for sure. If I can’t keep, I try to get the most out of it when I’m done with it.
Some people don't want to deal with craigslist. I sold a car on craigslist and got a call from the police a week later, asking about my car that was involved in a police chase. The DMV had not changed the title over fast enough.
A true statement but in selling cars and trucks in particular - I usually inisist on a "bill of sale" signed by both seller and buyer - just in case something like you mention or similar comes up.
Proof from my end that I sold it and if the registration was not changed yet - kind of helps get you off the hook.
Getting back to the NIssan though - I am still fairly confident whomever junked it was told some kind of ridiculous cost to repair or such plus in today's world - 2018 - to many folks are to quick to throw it and then go buy new w/little to no regard to length of car loan/amount of debt - only look @ the payment per month and the thought process stops @ that point.
I have seen this/witnessed this way way to many times and I write it off using the old saying "you cannot fix stupid".
I got a 2002 Nissan Altima 3.5 v6 and it's a wonderful car. I got leather seats , cruise control , heated seats. It's got 77.000 miles on it.
If you read online -- and I've learned from firsthand experience with 2 of these exact same cars -- the 05 Altima is notorious for having a fatal engine flaw. The engines rarely make it to 200k and typically require adding oil every single time you fill up the gas tank. That being said, if this one has 220k or whatever miles, it either had a different engine put in or you got really lucky with one that was babied.
I bought a 2006 with 15 miles , brand new in 2006. It's been rotting in my driveway with 152k with a blown head gasket . 2k over the recall. Been sitting for 5 years,
My first car is a 1996 Nissan Altima that I got 2 years ago, so I have the biggest soft spot for them! Especially since I still have the car to this day! If I need a new car I wouldn’t mind upgrading to an Altima like this to be honest.
800 bucks??? Dude, you're basically letting us steal that wonderful car! There's probably some cars in that yard in shittier condition for 800 bucks.
Someone's gonna be lucky, shit I'd take it if you were located on the West Coast haha.
I also like how nice the radio is too. ^^
Nathan Kim those stereos have a lot of bass. My mom used to have a 2005 altima with that same exact stereo.
I love that simple, yet modern design of the stereo. You know, before the era of fancy touch screen stereos that can get nasty real fast lol
Nathan Kim same, I’m all the way out here in California, but I’d take this in a heartbeat
I'm impressed on how easy it is for people to get rid of good stuff, like this car. I mean, those little issues with it are not too serious to scrap it.
I've got no problem with Nissan. I own a 91 Hardbody D21 pickup, just had to put a new engine fan on it after 26 years and replaced all the belts. Other than that it's been bullet proof.
Someone scrapping that was crazy
My 2003 on my channel has 426k miles. Got her with only 8 miles.. very good motors and transmissions.
You have a 2003 Altima 2.5 with 426k miles?
I had an 02 Altima that had 221k miles I got It at 160k and it burned oil like crazy but didnt leak or put out much smoke
Yep, you got the good model, before Nissan went to the crappy CVT
@@paulnadratowski3942 I wont buy an Altima newer than 06 due to that reason unless it's a 6speed 3.5 by
Is it the 4 cylinder version and what year
My favorite generation Altima, this thing would clean up nicely. Some general maintenance, tires, window motor and your golden. Maybe some fresh headlights while your at it.
That engine sound awesome! My cousin had a Nissan Altima that look just like that except it was a 2006, and the paint was white. It had 300,000 Mi. It was starting to break down all the time. So, he traded it in, and he bought a sporty silver 2018 Honda Civic. It’s looks like a badass car.
Just inherited a 2011 2.5 with almost 270k miles. Other than a slight upshift when going down a steep hill she going strong.
Lots of "expert" responses on this car. It's a bargain for someone who needs a cheap car.
Frank P thank you!
I'm not checking in with an "expert" opinion, but I've owned two, so I speak from experience. It's a car. It is not a GOOD car. The engine and transmission are nowhere near Toyota or Honda quality. For $800 is it a good deal? Depends how much longer it goes before the engine and transmission need to be replaced. Both are coming soon unless they have already been done. You have to ask yourself why this thing is being scrapped. Without even using a scan tool or driving the car and winding out the gears, you don't have a complete picture.
This is cheap im interested in buying
Actually all Altimas can last. People just need to stop being sloppy with maintainance
Exactly, because is you keep the vehicle maintained and maintenance it then it will last like you said.
I love those Altimas!!! I've liked them since 2nd grade and im 17 now the love will never die for those amazing machines I'm honestly considering trading my 04' Maxima for one!!!
If it were closer to me to go get - it would be gone! NIce!
Considering the miles, $800 is a good deal. It definitely deserves a new home, no doubt
i remember when my parents got a nissan primera back in 2005, i was like why they didn't buy the altima. the only thing i hated were the cleat tail lights. these were sold for 40k back in the day, the primera was 34k. it's not because we got it but the primera aged really well compared to the altima. but for just 800 bucks, that's a steal man! i got my 86 cressida for more!
Someone scrap that for their dope money?
Did you look under to see if there is holes under the driver and passanger floorboards. That's how these cars get scrapped out. I have one and the carpet is the only thing keeping my feet from dragging the road.... I'm serious. I have a 2006 Altima with 125,000 miles that has been well taken care of. I can make a video ... It's mind blowing.
yep fatal flaw.
I bought the same car 2005 Nissan Altima 2005, same color here at FL.
It was recently painted so it looks great, manual transmission for $200 dollars. Head gasket was bed, so I installed a new engine for $500 with 32k miles, I installed the engine myself so at the end I spent $700 dollars for the car.
Where did you get a new engine after 16yrs?
Damn that's a steal @ that price damn i love Altimas. I have the 3.5 V6 here in Australia. Also love thr fact that they are built in the USA 👍
Why's this car even in the scrap yard? It runs and drives, and it's not in terribly bad shape. It just needs to be cleaned up, and a couple of little things here and there need to be fixed. Other than that, if the transmission is good, you could easily daily that Altima for a good while
$800 is a deal that car looks good for its age and millage, as long as it drives and shifts be wicked for around town.
I can't understand why people ask "how much?" When you clearly said $800 a few times! I also can't understand why people scrap running and driving cars. This is an easy $2500 craigslist car! Probably get $3500 after changing the tires and a detail! People are crazy!
Jay: not a warning light on it! That’s right she’s ready for an inspection! The Altima: Absolutely not..
and in the inspection as well as worn out tyres and wheel misalignment who knows what 'little' faults will be found? $800 is a sensible cash, sold as seen, no fuckn warrantee bye bye price for some hopeful who may get lucky and have it inspected and fully road worthy for under $2000 or for someone with nothing to lose who drives illegally for $800 + gas. The guy who scrapped it got less, but cash and very quick.Doesn't have to think about it anymore. All makes sense to me.
Ian Rutherford yeah but if you know how to take car of these cars, your getting a decently reliable vehicle
Seen this on my notifications and clicked right away. These Altima’s are iffy.
Mileage doesn't matter as long as it's maintained properly.
Chris Kalkman to an extent.
Uhh false
Not really false... My sister has my old car witch is a 06 Saturn ion an has almost 300k miles on it had 110k miles when I got it no issues besides the air quit blowing
I'm rlyyy suprised the paint is that nice!! My best friend had one and her ex unfortunately beat it to shit the yr they were together he put it in 7 ditches backed up into a truck and blew the transmission twice and at the end blew the Motor!
good car but prone to rust issues. i bought an 06 2.5 altima for my daughter. she beats the crap out if it but it refuses to die.
Nice that they washed the outside for you before they scrapped it!!
Those 2.5 are great engines
Nissan! Some suck and some dont. lmao but that one looks pretty good!
Yo Jay really liked this one. I hope someone gets and appreciates this car. That’s a really low price for that!
Have you ever considered becoming a used car salesman? lol
DevoutSkeptic yes
Wow...Nissan cars last forever.
Jenbug0421 ikr they're tanks
Jenbug0421 my dad still has his it’s a 2005 Altima and it still works like new
Please do a drive vlog or follow up vid. I want to see how well it shifts. At that age that was the main issue with that otherwise nice model
Good review & great Nissan.
That car is there for a reason, I would be looking for underlying problems. Nissan CVT transmissions can appear fine when cold but completely not move the car when warm. No heat is another common aggravating issue. If everything checks out it could make a decent beater for the price.
Nice car my friend you should keep it.
That's a sweet car, and I am sure it will sell as fast as shit. The dash reminds me of the mid 2000s Infiniti G37's dash.
I got a 04 Nissan Altima SE 3.5 v6 for $1,700 it looks amazing an drives like a dream an it only had 173k miles on it
That's nice
Looks good for the high miles. I wonder if it would complete the drive cycle for all the monitors.. Might need cats
Just put the plate over those scratches on the front, done. It seems to belong there too.
GOOD REVIEW & GOOD CAR.
Nice car
Nice video.. Wish u close i buy it
Oh, this will go real quick. Even with 241K mikes, it's still priced way below what it's worth.
Id buy it if i had the funds for it because i need a car badly. But unfortunately i dont have $800 right now but good video Jay Smart. Keep on working hard. Your good at what you do. Keep on Rockin.
Not bad price which be great to drive for in town.
Just got one of this 2005 with 65,000miles last week for $300(excl fees) from Copart. I only need to change the front passengers door and paint the faded paint all over. I was wondering why the insurance let it go for cheap. Very clean interior but faded exterior I guess the owner must have been and old dude that rarely drive and just parked it outside.
I think I currently own the car in this video. No jokes at all
Post a video!! :O
@@zzoinks car has been trashed
I gotta say I love the 3rd generation Altima much better than any other midsize sedan 🚘, why, because 2006 was the last year Nissan made their midsize cars with the 🔑 igniters
Is that Nissan still available..do you have more ??..or anything equivalent to that for the same price.
I'd love a car like this for a commuter.
Sand that headlight lens and hit it with some clear coat A very nice car for $800. KBB says its not worth washing, trade in value $650, although there is one for sale with more miles on it for $2,500.
If you were in Indianapolis, I'd be there tomorrow cash in hand.
*wow that thing is pretty neat and all there too, the ONLY bad thing on this one is the miles on it and the scratches aside front* ?$800 very not bad!
Damn. I don't need a new car but if I had the money I'd buy it! Nothing a good detail wouldn't fix
A set of brakes, tires, gearbox and oil change = new work car.
great old car, congrats for those videos
Great car Great price
Good on you for saving it,that car has still alot left in it yet.
Saveee
Man I wish i was closer this car is awesome
Wow dats nice I need something like that as a secondary car
Did it sell? It better have I hope.
i like that body style of altima
These things go through engines like Larry King goes through wives lol. Strange it was scrapped if it has no issues, people are getting wasteful...
The earlier models I do agree with you . But 05 was suppose to be a good year for the 2.5.
IS that when they got rid of the pre cat?
They always had head gasket problems and timing chain problems with this gen Altima. (And intake gaskets and timing chain problems with the previous gen) garbage.
Guess I was lucky..no motor replacement whatsoever
Jimmy JimJims 02/04 4cyl are bad but 05/06 are strong AF
i bet the passenger front floor pan is patched or rotted
Out of curiosity, did you buy this car? What's the ending to the story? I'm curious how much longer it stayed on the road.
Dang, thats one nice car. If i wasnt 14 and had the money, id definately come and get it
WHOA WHOA WHOA ONLY $800!?!?!? I wish i had money...
On the bright side, when you turn 15 you could find a job at a grocery store, that's what I did, and I managed to get enough money to buy a $2000 car.
Schon239 N.O.D true true. I plan on getting a job maybe at publix or something. They pay $10 an hour so thats not bad for a first job.
Yeah that's not bad, I get paid $9 a hour, so it'd be better than mine, lol.
Schon239 N.O.D true hahaha
Nice car there! How does the frame look, any rust?
I just want it no matter what
Cool :)
I'll give you $800 for it. 😐
If she drives an Altima, she belongs to the streets.
Is the 2005 Nissan still available. I'll buy
So jay what is your opinion on this car?
Where is your junkyard located?!!!
Basically just needs a really good clean, an electric window winder motor and service, it will run for years yet. $800 is very cheap.
this is the video that made me fall in love with altimas
Nissan no longer sells just that valve cover gasket. You have to buy the entire valve cover. I replaced a few.
Import mature question. Is Jay smart like intelligence?
Sweet ride
Take it for your self bro dooooo it
Hey i dropped a like on this video Jay I really like all of your videos of the card coming in that are scrapped would you please let me know if you ever have any for sale I am interested in buying one
I would definitely buy it for 800 but I’m all the way in Cali. These things will go for 2-4 k around here
I'll take it
Where are you located ?
My cousin gave me an '06 free, same color. It had a bad PS pump, and the ac clutch was missing. It was also leaking oil into the coils. It has 160k miles. I put $800 into it and the air blows ice cold, new struts all around, changed all motor mounts/trans mount, I did all the work and parts from ebay/Amazon, she runs like new.
Congratulations, you've got mechanic skills and tools, most people don't.
$800 is a fair price.
Can't believe someone scrapped that. Don't have a clue what they had.
Not bad for $800, but looks like it could be $1600 real quick. Window motor, tires, alignment, Front end parts??, Rotors?? brakes? If you can't do some work yourself will cost even more. Lots of used cars in $1500-$2500 range with lower miles. If just a simple front end alignment, then it's a great deal.
