$500 NISSAN TITAN?! Was it worth it?

- Did we get a sweet deal on this truck or did we get burned? It made the hour drive home with no issues other then the problems that existed before purchasing. Some repair and maintenance is due soon and we will handle that in a future video. But overall, what do you guys think?

my 2006 nissan titan has had zero issues sense bought in 2006, has 263k miles, stock motor, trans, etc. been towing my 28ft boat for about 5 years now, best vehicle ive ever owned
Had mine since 2009 had 225k and runs great. Can honestly say I feel like I got more than my money's worth with this truck. 👍
Arcade the Husky; Have you had any issues with your coolant leaking into your transmission fluid, any issues with your 4x4 and any leaking in your differential or axles. These seem to be the main issues. Im considering a 2006 titan 4x4 priced at 9400 with 155k miles. What do you think?
I don’t know much about these but if you can ever pay less than 1000$ for a running and driving vehicle you will always win for sure good buy
Yea my thinking as well.
Not for the average person. Typically a vehicle that cheap will require some level of moderate ongoing repair to keep running. If you are not doing the work yourself you can end up being in a position where your car won't pass emissions/inspection and the repairs will cost about as much as the vehicle to repair. Up in the northeastern US a car that is $1,000 is a rust bucket piece of garbage. You really should spend at least $3,000 to get something passable.
@@MXguy95 might have beeen in a minor MVA sometimes in past and they did'nt replace the emblem and that's why the bumper is askew .killer price on this rig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love 500 dollar cars, treat them good until something major breaks and then get another one. Something different. I love to experience new vehicles. Sometimes it's hard to let certain ones go though.
Unless you live in the north east where many cars are running and driving but are completely rotted out and will never take an inspection sticker again.
Those rails in the bed are from factory. It's missing the sliding locking tie down cleats. Great feature. These truck are great. And it definitely has keyless entry. You definitely got a great deal on it!
I know I dont have any of these trucks in my yard but Im going to look around for those bed accessories ! Keyless entry is coming soon !
The rail system is the Utili-Track system, which is supposed to include 4 aluminum-forged cleats that slide into any of those 5 rails.
They're probably under his back passenger seat.
Scotty says if it runs and drives for under $1000, you got a great deal!
Scotty's an idiot from Texas where they don't have to deal with rust issues.
Definitely worth it! $500 for that kind of truck, and it runs? Not bad at all!
is that a rear storage compartment on the bed in back of the RR tire????
I've known several people who bought these trucks new and loved them. Seemed to be very durable. The tracks in the bed are the Utili-Track system that Nissan has. I think you did fine for $500. In my part of the country (Texas), this truck would've brought a lot more than that.
I worked at the Nissan dealership for a year , in my opinion that Titan and Frontier was their magnum opus after the Renault merge .We had a pilot driver come in for oil changes every so often , Titan had 500k miles on it , good trucks !
For 500 bucks you could fix it up and use it as a beater. Under a grand for a running and driving truck is always a deal
500 for a titan.? Excelent buy. I think is a good buy
Me too
He can parted out for more
I assumed it was good for a truck this new, but being a Nissan I hate spending on a dime on it haha
@@MXguy95 how about a bumper and grille guard for it? Spend it new......... bumperstock.com/products/iron-cross-24-915-04-winch-front-bumper-with-grille-guard-04-15-nissan-titan

I have a lifted 04 nissan titan crew cab LE. dont hate, one of the most mean and cool looking trucks i have ever owned. constant compliments everywhere i go.
A running and driving full size truck that isn't rotted out for $500 is a steal. As is you could easily get $1500-$2000 all day.
madmatt2024 Same in Illinois, people will want $2400 for a non running 1997 f250 that is 97% rust
@@youngillinoisan4270 same in Ohio. Saw a 01 dodge ram 250k, 4x4 "didn't work" and "transmission is slipping" every rocker panel and every wheel well was rotted. 1800 fucking dollars. On some crack
I was more then happy to spend almost 500 on my dodge ram (video coming soon) even though it was in ROUGH shape. But the nissan, I was hesitant just because it was a nissan haha
@@MXguy95 as they used to say as DATSUN.........................we are DRIVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@@MXguy95 meanwhile there are some CZcamsrs who spend $3000 at copart on a GMC Sonoma that has 4x4 issues and needed a fuel pump (and what a bitch that job is) jay you got a steal of a deal man, Nissan or not
I have a 2005 Titan and has been a great truck for me. You might be surprised how good this truck does for you especially being $500 which is a steal even with the high mileage. Most Titans have exhaust leaks due to a crappy exhaust manifold, but you can get new exhaust manifolds for about $600 and change them yourself pretty easy since it’s a 2WD. Have fun with that truck!👍
$500 for any truck is a pretty good deal if it runs ! I am with you if it doesn't have keyless I would really be surprised. It doesn't look bad I don't know rice burners though .
I'm confident it has keyless, we will find out shortly. And I'm not familiar with these nissans as its not my brand of choice, so far it seems decent enough !
You say rice burners, and clearly you don't understand that every single Titan that has ever been made, was designed and manufactured on American soil. I'd take a Titan any day over RAM, Ford, or GM.
@@carakuntze3862 owned by rice burner manufacturing, I will stick with my 7.3 ford diesels and ford v8's well and the flat head 6 in my 53 Plymouth. I have to have trucks that have dual wheels and the power to handle pulling fifth wheels .
Just saying Nissan made this model almost unchanged for 10+ years. That is a bonus because parts will be almost dirt cheap for upgrades and maitinence.
They did Change quite a bit underneath.
These are non VVT and they later want to VVT also the axle was redesigned for later years as well has a cover with cooling fins.
I took a drink every time he said "keyless entry." I am good and kicked out of shape......
These trucks are down right offensive on gas, but lots of power. Great deal👍
I like that drinking game haha
@@MXguy95 😎👍
I've owned one for years, and I absolutely love my truck. Those rails in the bed are factory, there called utilitrack and the cleats are expensive. I've got an 05 with keyless. The trans temp and tow mirrors means it has a tow package. I'd also be willing to bet that the exhaust leak is on the manifold between the last two cylinders before the cat's as most Titan manifolds will crack there. I've done plenty of work to mine, mainly to fix my manifold. I went with JBA headers and Cajun Bpipes and I couldn't be happier with the HP gain! I'd be more than happy to help you figure out anything as these trucks deserve more love!!
You got a smokin' deal!
Be proud of it.
A trucks a truck if you ask me, and at 500 you really cant go wrong with something in such good condition, It's hard to get cars with barely any options for that price let alone a semi-packaged truck with no real damage or engine problems.
Being a Nissan I dont like spending a dime on them, but it did run and drive. The body isnt horrible and its not rusty, either theres money to be made or it will make one hell of a beater !
Definitely is worth $500!! Me & my mom bought my dad an 04' Titan, the first year they came out. The SE King Cab, black. It has the key fob, six disc changer, etc. His was the 2WD version. These trucks are fantastic. My dad passed in 13', but he left it to me. At the time of his death he had put only 64k miles on it!! Now I have 68k!! Tune up is not due until 105k miles!! It doesn't have any problems!! I did have it painted a couple months ago. The factory Black it came as. With the paint job its practically a brand new truck!! I say get it serviced, get the few dents out & you'll have a truck that will last you a few more good years!!
You're going to change your opinion about Nissan after you have this truck for a while it will go 400,000 miles long as you service it
David Jones i love only the 12-14 maximas. But nissans cvt transmissions are TRASH !
David Jones I have one also and I absolutely love it! I purchased mine new in 09 and I have had zero problems
David Jones
I know two people who have these with over 400K miles. They have held up very well.
This is a great truck if you like gas mileage around 10 light poles to the gallon
Great truck I’ve had a 2007 for 6 years and there has been no problems at all very reliable!!!!
Thats good to hear !
@@MXguy95 How about some shocks, rims and an mild lift? oh yeah a front bumper too.............with lights
I have an 04 Titan exactly like this one. Been having it since 04. I love it. It comes with keyless entry. If you press the unlock twice and hold the button the windows will roll down. 500 is a deal. I have put headers on ,changed the radiator ,the fuel pump put leveling shocks headlights and smoked out tail lightsfrom Amazon myself. It has 180000 miles runs like a new truck. Next a new paint job because i have those faded lines on my roof and hood. Thanks for the video
That's got to be a steal at the money. Like a lot of high mileage vehicles you know it's been well maintained even if it has been well worked too. I'm pretty sure I saw a remote for the locks in the centre console, it looked broken which isn't unusual as they weren't the best quality, but I'm sure it was there...
Those are good trucks as long as you take care of them
Awesome grab on the truck. George should just let you pick the next truck... Lol great 👍vid
Great Deal Jay!
I love your videos
Awesome truck Great deal
Great purchase!
That's an absolute steal of a deal. These trucks last a long time if you maintain them decently.
The tracks are factory from Nissan. They are for the tie downs for straps
That’s a really nice truck! I would’ve bought that in a heartbeat!! Good find
You got a hell of a deal bro shouldnt take alot to get her straighten out awesome video
You could clean it up, fix the bumper, fix the A/C, replace V8 badge, level it, and sell it for $5000
I have a 2019 four door frontier with them in it. Nissan call it a rail track system. It came with four swivel tie hooks that slide in the rails. When you twist them they lock in place. This allows you to position them anywhere in the tracks.
I’ve seen these trucks with 300+ and still drive like new. Nissan trucks are my first choice.
Nice truck!!
rad paint job!!engine sounds good!!!...good buy!!!!
Nice truck you right keyless entry because I use to have one. You did go wish I could find one!NISSAN ARE GOOD TRUCK! Good luck
Cool stuff 👍😎
Looks like a winner .!
Those racks are for fasten your load. Add adjustable hooks or rings there and you can move those on racks.
Yes, you got a hella deal! I bought a 2004 Titan CC 4wd W/all options at the auction with the intention of fixing it up a bit and selling it. But after driving it around for a week I loved it so much I kept it. I am now slowly fixing it up to "Like new" condition rather than spending $60,000 + on a new truck. That was a couple of years ago and I still love my Titan.
The rails on the bed floor are anchor points. secure and tie down cargo, using special locking anchors.. you can also secure wheel chairs, motorized or not.
Those utilitrack rails in the bed, you can also simply use any "superstrut" accessory. Get them at lowes. I got a handful of the straight strut nuts, and some short eyebolts to go in them. Inexpensive and easy way to have plenty of tie-off points.
Very nice truck.
It looks like a nice truck those Nissan Titans will run forever. The body looks like it is in good shape. I believe that you got a good deal. Sincerely Robert Gildea Elmira NY
I use to have one it was a great truck. I also have that climate control for that year truck. They only make it in 1 year for that truck. They changed it in 05. It's a great truck. I miss mine. I wish I lived closer I would buy it from you.
that's a good deal. The engine sounded strong and throttle response was top-notch. looks like it's a good tune-up and most of those service lights will go away.
I bought a 2005 Titan in 2006, it was a dealer lot left over. It was a plain jane base model with 4 wheel drive and crank windows, but oddly enough had a 6 disc CD changer. I loved the 5.6 V-8! It definitely had some get up and go!! Fuel mileage was awful though, especially compared with todays V-8's. I really enjoyed the truck overall though. It served me well!
Terrific deal!
I hope you enjoy it my friend I’m sure you take good care of it. Hope your Dad is doing well.
if u look at the instrument cluster the theft light was blinking which is a solid indicator of keyless entry on Nissan
Great buy 500 u got a steal!!!
Nice truck....and yes Jay you are right this titan does indeed have keyless entry standard!
I own 2 nissan titans at this time. A 04 and 06 same 5.6 easy to work on. And Reliable
Hit. And the tracks in the bed are utility tie down tracks. I have nothing but love for a Titan. Very strong truck
Those tracks mounted in the bed a made for quick detachable eyelet fittings .they use the same system in the cargo pits of airplanes.
Not too bad at all just needs some work Still running strong 💪.
Awesome deal
These nissan trucks are great. My mom had four armadas in a span of maybe ten years, same engine and everything as this truck. We towed trailers and boats with them and we managed 160 thousand on our latest one without a single issue. Fantastic truck and suv, but man are they bad on gas 😂😂
Things I really recommend for this is an all aluminum radiator, the factory one is know to make a Transmission fluid and coolant milkshake.
On the axle modify the vent to prevent axle seals from blowing out if the vent is clogged.
Racks/rails in bed are a part of the optional utilitrack system. I bought a 2004, brand new, with the same equipment package. Temp gauge for transmission was a part of the towing package. Mine had the same interior, with torn seat in the same spot. The V8 endurance marker on the fender was only on the 2004 (first year) model. Wore my truck out after 250k miles. It does have keyless entry. Looks like it's a SE model like mine was. For $500.00 it is worth it! Mine was in worse shape with holes appearing in the bed. I sold mine for $2500. Should have no trouble getting replacement parts, as well. The seats were extremely comfortable on long trips. You got a deal!!
Great Deal
It’s worth it just has some minor fixes and it can be a daily driver
I'd say you got a good deal. At over 271,000 miles and not leaking any fluids, that's really a plus. Nissans are really good vehicles, I think. Maybe I'm biased because I own one myself. But looks good! 👍
You are trying so hard to find all the negatives in that Nissan Titan that has way over 250,000 miles I've had three including right now at 2019 they are incredible trucks the problem is you will find all the excuses on a Ford Chevy and Dodge but the Nissan Titans. Of all the troubles and defects that Ford Dodge and Chevys have why won't you talk just as bad about them
Dang bruh I love those trucks
Hi jay the rails are factory. They should have a set of movable lashing eyes that move up and down the rail .
I think your right and this truck came with a 3 button remote. Ebay remotes are cheap and they work, but from my experience the cheap remote cases are easier to break.
$500 great buy. Those 5.6l v8s are great
There are positionable tie down points that slide through those rails
Never had a Nissan ,but I think it's a sweet deal, especially for a truck and after you fix it up it will look sharp 😆👍😊...
Looks like a great come up to me
Jay,
I think you got a screaming deal on this truck. Best of luck with it. I hope you can find the parts you need.
I know with the Toyota vehicles with VCS same thing as VDC if the check engine light comes on it turns off the trac and VSC. Once the engine light problem is fixed and cleared the other lights go away or can be cleared. It might actually be a speed sensor but you might just scan and see what it says
Im not a nissan guy but i always loved these titans
Those tracks are apart of the Utility Package with the utilitrac system. The rails have cleats that can be screwed in so your can tie things down easier.
I test drove an 06 before getting my Silverado. Definitely has more grunt than the 5.3 and it seemed to shift way smoother than the 4l60e...
I am not a Nissan fan either, but with some fixing....good for nice flip
Nice deal. Nearly 300k miles and good running with no oil leaks is impressive.
that's a very ambitious speedometer you got there
With all those options, how does this not have leather?
i think it was def worth it, and its in ok condition, nissans are reliable as can be and you are a person that can take care of it so itll be good for you!
FL far Nissans are reliable as can be? I’m sorry what planet are you on?

If that truck uses wheel speed for the TPMS, everything but the CEL is related to an ABS sensor malfunction
Nice Truck :)
That's Utilitrack rails in the bed, that's a factory option on the Nissan trucks. Very nice tie down system, although the cleats that go in the tracks are on the expensive side.
For that price, you stole it!!!!! that check engine light gotta be incurable probably came from somewhere that require emissions and they got fed up with chasing down the light that or serious hidden damage
I got rid of my cats cause the clogged up went with headers and black taped the service engine soon.
Damn thing has 4 cats well mines a 2010 and I think early ones had 2.
Bit of a pain getting them off.
My truck is a 07 titan the rails in the bed are for tie downs mine is lifted as well best purchase ever
Nissan trucks are good Jay. I've owned several trucks and love them. I think you got a good deal with this 2004 Titan for $500.
It's worth 500 even if you used it for parts but it looks like it will be road worthy
Still look forward to seeing your videos :)
That's a very good buy
Perfect yard truck.
Except for the tow mirrors and adjustable pedals I have the exact same truck in 4 wheel drive. Actually just gave it to my son with 240,000 miles and it still runs great , endurance 5.6 is bulletproof. Seat cushions and stock covers are cheap and available, body panels and bumpers plus that trim cover are cheap too. Willing to bet the check engine light is your charcoal filter for emissions , that can be a little pricey. One caveat, Nissan used the Dana 60 rear end which is fine but they didn’t install a snorkel on the vent which clogs and the pressure blows out the axle seals. I replaced the rear end at 100,000 miles because I didn’t catch it in time so please check that vent. A good indicator of the plug/leak is a slight whine so listen for it. All-in-all a great deal on a damn good truck! Looking forward to updates!
Those are tie down rails in the bed. It came with the adjustable tie downs. The ones on the floor of the bed are for bikes, mowers, and other things.
Keep the Nissan get rid of the S-10
U clear the codes. Its a great first car. Yes it should have keyless entry. The rails are for tie downs. The anchors that slide are missing
04? Runs and Drives? Working A/C? I say that's a hell of a deal, even if it isn't the best pickup out there.
Even GM trucks can't have a working ac past 100k
3 gm vehicles we've had all failed ac system
Ac doesn’t work
Only problem with mine was cracked exhaust manifold at 130k. Replaced with JBA long tubes and Cajun B Pypes. Nice driving truck if your not using it for heavy work. You will love the cabin and driving it.
