    You were very lucky to find anybody during the summer. If your wedding falls between April and Oct, it’s better to have minimum 6-8 weeks for bridal alterations before your wedding. It’s the busiest time of the year for getting bridal gowns ready because of people needing them for summer and fall weddings so that was a gamble.

      If that's bad, I'm terrible (I do know I was). I ordered my wedding dress in the May before my September wedding. My dress came in literally 9 days before my wedding. On top of that, I lost 20 lbs between ordering and delivery and I'm 5'3"....meaning a lot had to be taken off around and from the bottom. The seamstress actually tailored my dress in one night.

    "I was really lucky to find my dress the first try" No...thats fairly normal as a bridal stylist, i sell the first dresses to most of my brides, they do try on other dresses too of course but its usually always that first one that ends up being the one lol and yes, we always suggest 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding to do alterations. Doesnt matter if its just a hemming or taking off sleeves. Its the same suggestion everytime so of course some places refuses flat out with a Month.

      @@BitterBetty76 that happens quite often too unfortunately... My coworkers and I have had to put our foot down several dozen times before shutting up the group and asking the bride specifically what She wants/likes. I agree with those saying she should've given herself, and the tailors, more time to address alterations. We all yo-yo in our weight, and probably even more so when planning a wedding.
    On the flip side, I want to praise the tailors that made last minute adjustments to my wedding gown. I was all set (except for one last try-on closer to the date for any minor tailoring) , and only a few months prior to my wedding, I ended up in the hospital with a bowel obstruction. I was in there for three weeks, and ended up in surgery with removing 12-inches of infected intestines.
    My family contacted my tailor so they'd be prepared. My gown was taken in almost 2-inches on each side of my corset. They were amazing! They still waited as close as they could, as I was losing weight even after I was released to recover at home.
    Good bless them, and all the hard work they did in such a time crunch. I felt beautiful on my wedding day, and I'm so blessed they were there for me.

    • @junoantaresofficial
      @junoantaresofficial Před 2 měsíci +2

      Bodies change over time even without stress. Sometimes, they change a lot. She could have different measurements closer to the wedding date. So, going to get alterations to make the dress fit as perfectly as it can to what your body is at the time of the wedding is normal. Clothes are made to fit bodies, bodies are not supposed to change to fit clothes.

      Sometimes, people can lose and gain weight fastly, it's better to make sure it's perfect by doing a fitting near the occasion. The hem can be because maybe she didn't have the shoe she wanted to wear at the wedding, so seamstresses make floor length gowns longer than the measurements to account for the height of heels

    • @rendagrella

      All custom made clothes need tailoring. The length with the exact shoes, the exact undergarments etc can change things- especially something so close fitting. Especially with a corset, the ribbing has to be right, or it will hurt like hell!

    Ahhh it was such a beautiful dress! I’m so glad you had a nice experience! I also tried to order a made to order dress based on my measurements and it was a nightmare. I waited several months (as to be expected with a custom dress covered in lace) and when it was ready for pickup it wasn’t quite right. It almost seemed like a different style of dress with how it ended up. It didn’t even fit me! As in it didn’t even touch my skin at the top and it would fall right off of my body. All the way down to a pool of lace at my feet. With no spare time to wait for alterations to be made, my mother took a needle and white thread and literally sewed me into my dress on my wedding day 😆 she did great and I don’t think anyone could really tell! Haha the pictures even still look ok!
    (I also want to add, I know the measurements were what was wrong about it. I definitely already had nothing up at the top to hold a dress up BEFORE measuring for a dress 😆)

      I’ve been engaged for over a year, we’re planning on a long engagement because we’re in the middle of moving in together and I just started a new job. We’re also talking about whether we want to have our children before getting married so they can be part of it or if we’d want it to be a big event or just us. Deep down I want a big wedding but we don’t have money for it now, we’re also thinking about a destination wedding because we could do it on my family land and it would be beautiful scenery, cheaper than doing it where we live and also we could have our honeymoon straight away . Although I do think it would be magical to merge the two and have an intimate gathering somewhere that feels expensive. It’s not a material thing I’m just really about the meanings behind things and I want the pictures to represent how the moment feels because I have a terrible memory and things like pictures, smells and fabrics are how I keep my memories if that makes sense. @karenneill9109 Před rokem

    No. Here’s how to get a custom made dress. Find a seamstress who makes wedding dresses. My sister and I both did this (different designers). We both had perfect custom DESIGNED dress. Mine was a while ago, I paid $600, equivalent of about $2000.00 now. My sister was more recent, she paid $1000.00, it would be about $2500 in todays money. I.e. As much as the cheapest darn thing in the wedding salon. Mine was raw silk with custom beading, absolutely GORGEOUS. My sister’s was a slightly golden silk, with draping folds that was just perfect on her. To buy ours at a wedding store would be easily 5K each, and that wouldn’t be custom. Why on EARTH do people pay SO much more then they need to. Look around- LOTS of people make custom formalwear. And if you can make a formal dress, you can make a wedding dress. And you will get SO much more dress for your money. Go to the wedding salon to try on lots of shapes, look at fabrics, etc. Then find a local person who has a little dress making shop.

    I'm confused, if it was custom fit why would you need tailoring?

    This might be stupid but why did you need to get it tailored if you had it made to your measurements ???

  • @MrsBees
    @MrsBees Před rokem +1

    It's made to order, with your exact measurements, and you still needed to get it tailored? I'm confused. I understand the bustling but not the hem. Feels like it wasn't made to for you specifically if you needed to alter it.
    I have thee best tailor in San Diego. He only wants a wedding dress a week before the wedding. He says women change so much before a wedding and he wants to make sure it's perfect.

      I didn’t have my wedding shoes when I picked my dress so I had them make it longer so when I got my shoes I could hem it to the right length

    not the topic of this video but the grey colour you can see all over the bottom 20 cm of the dress in the beginning shot is the reason i will never buy a dress that touches the ground. i refuse to walk around in clothes covered in dust and dirt.

    It’s pretty and I can tell it’s expensive and she’s proud of it, but I am still wondering why it looks like she is wearing a skirt with a built in bra.

    It's a beautiful dress, but shouldn't it have a slip, as u can see through it. Or am I mistaken!?
