Outsourcing may be employed when it is more efficient for an external company to complete a portion of a systems development. A development team may believe they do not have the skills or resources to complete a particular part of a project. In this case, the project manager will contract an individual or business external to the team who specialises in the particular skills required to develop a part of a project.
