POEM:
Autumn is grief, full openness
of giving and receiving
sorrow and goodbyes.
•
It is birth, a shedding of the
unwanted skin that was
suffocating
in summer heatwaves.
•
Time is slipping right through me
it takes me several places
and I see several faces
It changes me but I stay the same.
•
Nature enters a sleep, a last
colourful concert as leaves turn
and fall into seas of yellow, red
and brown.
•
A sunset is now a reminder to
look out for each other.
Puddles reflect the swaying trees,
the rainfilled clouds with
heavy storms
wind blown hair and
cold ankles.
•
Little things become more important
Leaf litter is leaf play,
a joyful sound of early nights
past 4pm it changes lights
to flickers of subconsciousness.
•
Fruits of the season make
warm filling meals.
Harvest is fulfilling,
share your part and share a meal.
•
Brief moments of complete
peacefulness are more easily found
in autumn. Goodbyes again,
sometimes forever. Sleep softly
wherever death takes us.
•
Go within the darkest corner
of your mind
and light a memory that brought
pain, fright
so many times before.
You are alright.
You do your best.
•
Mushrooms everywhere, their gills
are patterns of this time of year
like wheels, remember new days come.
Walk to nowhere in particular
I enjoy the last green gifts.
It’s all these little things
that autumn gives.
