  • Tactic Helmet is a sizeable retailer of mid-to-low grade tactical gear. They have been caught spoofing data to enhance the image of their trash-tier products in an effort to fleece unsuspecting consumers. This story was first broke by Student of the Gun. Lying is not marketing and lying to market is an unacceptable business practice. Excommunicado

      In fact, I turned to forensics to bust these aholes, and I am about to break a HUGE scandal involving LPVO,
      and several companies lying about their magnification.

    • @m4rvinmartian
      @m4rvinmartian Před měsícem +1

      @@wolfsworkshop9095 It's obvious that you shouldn't trust any of the Chinesium LPVO, but there is a set of companies that claim variously to be U.S. companies, but buy all overseas materials and assemble here. The manufacture of the materials is the substantial part of the cost, not the assembly labor.
      *That said... avoid SwampFox particularly. The max magnification is one number less than advertised. 10x is 9, 6x is 5, etc. The 5x non variable is 4x.*
      You can test it yourself, just use a camera with a focal length equal to eyesight. Put the LPVO (or any optic) on a tripod or solid area. Put a target as far as you can get to 50 yards. A 2 foot target is great. Take a picture of the target (at distance), then take a picture again through the LPVO. Magnification is straight up as it sounds... use Photoshop or similar and stack the unmagnified picture of the target, on the image of the target taken through the LPVO.
      If it's a 10x, you'll have 10x small targets stack in ANY direction... horizontal, vert, diagonal.
      If it's a Swampfox, it'll only be 9 targets wide.
      That's straight up fraud.
      They'll be chatting with me about it in court. I'm tired of all the scams and lies.

    There is an NIJ helmet standard but it's from the 80's and defunct. It's NIJ 0104.02. You can have a lab test to that standard but NIJ is not handing out certifications for it nor do they maintain a helmet CPL. Even reputable helmet companies will say they meet NIJ standards and in the fine print it will say tested to 0104.02.

    - Somehow direct shipping from China has become stupid cheap (Temu in particular, but products sold on Amazon as well) and I'm guessing it would take anyone less than a week to get in touch with a Chinese manufacturer that already has some variety of helmet spec and sell them direct-shipped under your own brand. The manufacturer does not care what you market the product as. After a few hundred sales and dozens of complaints, close shop and skip town. Hard to get your money back from an LLC that no longer exists, or was never registered in the U.S. in the first place.

    I have a boat load of screen shots that I had to send to make bank for a claim from them because they never sent my helmet and refused to answer any questions about how they have nij certs. From my understanding they also never got back to navy fed and ended up sending the helmet and my bank got my money back. They then never sent me anything to send the helmet back 🤷🏽‍♂️ so now my 3yo has a black high cut from tachelmet 😂

    My issue with Chinese products made for defense is when everyone becomes reliant on them then they shut off the supply. Ie. surgical masks in 2020.
    They might be fine. They might stop bullets just like the real thing. But if they wanted to shut off the suply during a catastrophy, and the US manufactorers lower their output, then we have a huge problem. It makes me nervous.

    the difference in making a iPhone and making kevlar.... is OVERSIGHT.... Apple is the most valuable company in the world if not its top 5. This means their Quality Assurance standards are higher. I get the premise you are saying they have the ability to make quality products which may be true but neither the company selling the helmets or the company manufacturing the products are willing to have high enough QA standards and do not care about their customers. They only care about pocketing money as fast as possible.
