This widely-known practice was kept largely hidden, a taboo subject. But after this programme reported on it last year, it was extensively debated online, transforming the life of one of the women we spoke to.
We went back to Kenya to find out what has changed a year after our report.

Poverty is the driving force behind the teenage girls sexual exploitation. No self-respecting man would stoop so low to exploit these teenage girls because of penury. These girls have become the victims of predators.
