      look at the stats...that isn't much of a regression when u look at it though. he's just not having as many 7-8 3pt games but rather more 3-4 3pt games. He's a great playmaker and shld focus more on being a deocy when on the floor with the younger guys and not put the pressure on himself to be the one to score when steph is locked up or doesn't have it going. It's more a mental thing with klay than a physical one. he's lost his motivation with this contract situation. he feels disrespected and not appreciated that they wouldn't at least offer him a 3-4 yr deal. if they offered him 28 mil a yr for 5 yrs he'd grab that right away. he's making 40mil this season. they offered him 48 mil for two seasons. cmon golden state do better than that!

      @@tjgrafiks watching the games though, there's so much bad shot selection and even the good ones dont go in. The inconsistency is hurting the spacing and usually the long misses turn into fastbreak points on the other end. Not to mention the minutes he's taking up are minutes that JK, podz, or CP3 (when he eventually returns) could be using instead

      His POA defense is actually decent, he can stay in front of most guards and lowkey gets some blocks/steals in those moments. It's way more on his defensive rotations, communication and what @yndiiatecow2536 said about taking too many bad selfish shots halting the offense. He often loses his man on switches or fails at screen navigation, not closing out on the perimeter etc

    The reason it is so frustrating for him in my opinion is that the regression is not just because of age because he isnt really that old, he is frustrated because two major injuries have affected his ability to produce on the court. To battle back from two career ending injuries and knowing that your game should age gracefully without those injuries is tough

  • @Criminal.Lawyer.2024
    @Criminal.Lawyer.2024 Před 3 měsíci +39

    I've watched all the Warriors games and noticed that much of Klay's struggles are caused by his shot selections. He was always a catch-and-shoot guy when a good shot was available. Nowadays, he dribbles a lot, takes a lot of off-balance shots, tough fadeaways, more contested shots, rushed shots, and frankly, a lot of crazy shots that shouldn't be taken. Physically, he seems fine. Mentally, he's trying to be something that he's never been.

      @JCHR74 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@Criminal.Lawyer.2024He's probably been asked or seen that he has too. The warriors don't have a facilitator outside of Draymond and Draymond is a liability now for many reasons. Steph can't pass to himself. That's why they got CP3 and now they're playing the pod kid almost full time.
      The true problem with Klay is that he can't play a full game on defense and get hot consistently on offense any more. His legs won't let him do both and GSW isn't good enough to blow teams out of the water anymore or hide him on defense. Teams are starting to seek Klay out to attack him and Kerr can't have that at the end of close games. It's sad to see his realization of it.

Klay could take a pay cut that matches his current talent so they can add to the roster but it sounds like everyone else might give him a bag. The only reason Klay has to feel low is only because he maintained such a high level of play for long there is no shame to embrace his age and injuries.

Same can be said of Loon and Wiggs. Curry works really hard at staying in shape even when he's on vacation with his family. At Klay's age, Curry muscled up to compete even more. There was a period of time of who was more important to GSW and they had the same importance. Injuries sapped Klay's ability to stay in close games because he can't guard as he used to and teams are targeting him and curry. Can't hide both especially with young players trying to prove themselves.

    • @RiceWarrior34
      @RiceWarrior34 Před 3 měsíci +4

      Yeah, but that average also includes his early years when he wasn't a prolific scorer. If you look at his peak years, he averaged 20-22 ppg with a 3 point percentage as high as 44%. He did this mainly moving off the ball and converting when he had a sliver of daylight. Currently, its his percentages that sink the team. Look at some recent games: 7/23 vs MIL, 4/19 vs ATL, and the worst 1/11 vs DAL earlier this year. Obviously, he's had some good games this year, but overall, he's shot us out of games far more than he shot us into them.
      And when the young guns get more playing time, they've produced. Kuminga has been on a tear as of late since voicing his displeasure, Pod has been solid off the bench, Moody has gotten better and deserves more PT, and the young guns have kept us in a lot more games than we deserve.
      I know it's painful, but Klay needs to accept a reduced role where he distributes the ball more and only shoots when his feet are set and he's open. Last two games: 19 shots vs ATL and a L. 9 shots vs BKN and a W. The offense is much better when he's not chucking them up and trying to "reclaim" what he's lost.
      And I say all this as an absolute diehard Dubs fan that looks forward to seeing his statue outside Chase in the future.

If JK learns how to make smart decisions in crunch time and lock down on defense forget it. He could be League MVP.
