Met the man in Romania. He has the same energy off stage, really funny and outgoing. He could've just ignored me in the corner asking for a picture but he jumped into it with enthusiasm. Blown away everybody at a comedy / talent show, an absolute gem of a human being.

I love this clip! And I am going to tell you why.
Notice the sheer gratitude on Matt's face when they're reviewing his act. It's authentic and amazingly pure and has got to be a testament of how difficult his journey to this point has been.
He seems genuinely happy as they tell how good his performance was and his wife is absolutely beaming with pride way up in the dark recess of what appears to be the upper balcony.
He's loving every second of this triumphant moment in his career and laughing at David's silly voice when Ant and Dec come strolling out.
Matt is slow to realize what's happening but noticeably puzzled, but then BAM! It suddenly hits him full-forced as they walked past him instead of come up to him, meaning there's really only one place they can be going. And yet he covers his face in horror and takes a few steps backwards away from the judges, shaking his head 'no'. But why? Why horror? Shouldn't he be jumping for joy and celebrating at this point?! Is that what you and I would be doing if it were us on stage?
It's got to be because after years of struggling to make a name for himself, clawing and scrapping for every inch, every centimeter of progress in his life's pursuit and seeing his hope fail him time and again, over and over and over, he's got to have learned not to let his hope fly untethered.
And in this moment where there's no other reasonable explanation for what's about to happen than to finally see a massive payoff for all his past pains and sacrifices, he's trying to tell himself "Don't! Don't you dare believe this! Because this just might be one more of life's cruel little jokes."
It would seem that even in his wildest dreams, he believed that his best possible outcome was to get four yeses and quite frankly he'd be perfectly happy to get that.
But then Ant and Dec do in fact head straight for the golden dome and with the music swelling for the sake of us, the online views, they jointly press down and Matt falls to his knees is sweet unbelief.
I am venturing to guess that the overwhelming feelings of completeness, satisfaction and what I can only imagine as an internal peacefulness that comes from such validation were so great that only a minority of people that are, that will be or that have ever been have ever experienced to this degree....
...but let's not forget his wife, who is so lovingly, unselfishly and genuinely celebrating him and his work. In that moment, though she is seated so far away from the stage, his joy is her joy and his happiness is her happiness, joined as one over the distance of the auditorium.
Sure, the whole crowd erupts in celebration, and that's great, but the only person in that crowd that's truly sharing this moment with Matt is his pure, sweet, loving, life-long companion.
It's hard to imagine that any variety award show will ever have such a emotionally magical moment as this one ever again.
I love how everyone else knew, but it took him a second cause he was smiling and then when they walked past him he paused like... 'Oh hey- wait, what are they? No.... no way' and then he fell to his knees in disbelief. I loved it

Two moments break me. The realization what ant and dec are about to do and the end when his gf and hugs him and tells him she knew he could do it. Just warms my heart bc you know he must’ve been busting his ass for so long on his dream and to have such a great gf who supports him and knows he has a true talent and stuck through the good and the bad. That part always brings tears of joy.

Every time I watch this, I still laugh just as hard at his performance and goofy lighthearted personality, and smile just as big when he gets the golden buzzer.
