I feel like if potemkin had any one of these things in strive, fast hfb, heat/extend choice, vacuum 2s, he'd be an absolute nightmare character again.
In my completely unbiased opinion he should get all 3

@@kaizerprobablydoesntdoanyt180 the problem with this is that, with every thing they give pot back, they'll have to give back things to other characters too. ArcSys doesn't want pot to be too strong, because people will complain if the 160 damage grab character is high tier. We probably just end up having a worse time if he gets too many buffs, because they will overbuff the rest of the cast to compensate.

Pot's sound design in AC is top tier. HFB sounds like a gunshot, and with how good his VA did on the Buster, it's just perfection all around. Unfortunately for Pot, he's still paying his "one time good grappler taxes" for his crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile testament was top 1 in +r, top 2 before iirc and just got buffed

He and Tager both are paying, poor guys. I think Tager got off worse than Potemkin since he was literally trash tier in his last game, BBTAG, being bottom 5 in BBCF after being high tier in BBCP. Huge downgrade for him

Something about Johnny of all characters getting bullied by Potemkin in an older GG is really amusing to me. Man must've gone on a training arc between then and Revelator to regain his honor

So, potemkin in accent core, having his aegis(giganter) unblockables, was literally urien but with pot buster? Seems like a perfect character to me.
The funniest things about top tier grapplers is that they're almost never top tier cuz of their grabs

Don't get it twisted, AC Pot Buster is still really good.
For real, usually they are strong for the things they can do to punish or prevent you from escaping the grab.
It's kinda like zoners, the real threat isn't the sonic boom but the flash kick.
both ggxxac pot and sfv g was never strong as vanilla sf4 zangrief btw.
and vanilla sf4 zangrief is top tier cuz of his grab lol. if you consider sum broken ftg, like vanilla kof 02, daimon is top tier too and way broken than sfv g and ggac pot. cuz of bugs and glitches. but there still like more than 10 characters in vanilla kof 02 has way broken bugs and glitches so daimon is not god tier in that game.

Accent Core vanilla Potemkin was the first character I ever mained and I am pretty sure he’s the reason I never seriously played a grappler again.
AC Potemkin is so cracked that it poisoned the well literally forever and no grappler will ever be able to stack up.
USF4 Zangief and CPE Tager are close tho.
One is a force of Resets that constantly is at your face, the other is a Nuke that is married to your Spine without consent.
I play the bridget-potemkin matchup a lot and holy shit the difference in damage is depressing LMAO

Very fun video! Potemkin's history as a grappler is super neat and kinda makes me want to see a video on his first appearance. He's apparently REALLY bad in the first game but it'd be fun to see how far his character has come.
Missing Link Potemkin is worse than really bad, he just doesn't function at all. Even Axl (an unfinished character with broken hitboxes) is stronger than Pot is
I'll try to summarize why Missing Link pot is awful. Infinites and over oppressive zoning is the name of the game, so he's severely outclassed. Almost every character has an infinite, so his high health usually means nothing. His high damage also means nothing because of the zoning, though this depends on the character he's facing, but most characters don't struggle to hit him first and put him in in infinite loop
@@crinsombone5380 this is missing Pots biggest flaw. Although his per-hit damage is higher than any other other character he is actually one of the lowest damage characters in the game since he doesn't have an infinite.

And also missing link *basically* doesn't have knockdowns since any move with the knockdown property can be teched out of
So you're playing a traditional grappler with the weaknesses in mobility and neutral you'd expect, but also with low damage and no opportunity to do mixups.
Left 4 Dead but every special infected is just Potemkin from AC
I love grappler fighters because they are unique type of fighters, no fancy stuff just grab and punish people who like to play way aggressive like Clark Steel and Grappler from DnF.

This version of Pot was my first experience with Grapplers. Its safe to say that I was spoiled AF. I went against Eddies, Testaments & Dizzys in tournaments, and despite the disadvantage I had in those matchups I never felt that I couldn't win. Hell, there was a high level testament player that almost lost to me in a tournament because of how strong Pot was at the time. You just needed one good read, and they were put into your endless guessing game.
I even managed to do the unblockable set up to a Johnny at the same tournament. Being familiar with the matchup because of a friend, knowing that Johnny got off the ground slower than other characters frame wise & my opponent using his burst (and having no meter to do a reversal) put him in the perfect position to be a victim of that. All I needed was to make him feel vulnerable one round, and I could condition him to mash more on wakeup.....which I immediately capitalized on.

All he was trying to do was deliver the rest of the cast to Heaven as efficiently as possible

I’d like to see you talk about how busted Kliff and Justice were in Accent Core Plus, before +R came and nerfed them.
Justice was always a boss character so it's hardly a surprise that she's broken.
I did hear that Kliff was tested in the early days of Accent Core before ultimately being banned, so I'd like to see how he works.
They were mainly banned because they weren't playable in the arcade version. Justice was definitely busted but Kliff was arguable. He had a lot of kill combos but that was pretty par for the course for AC.
give Potemkin an invincible DP
I want the "force breaks" (which were essentially half-supers) introduced in Strive.
Also, give Pot his vacuum 2S - he needs it!
Yes it would be neat to have another meter option that are not as common as RCs but deal good damage while not being too flashy or having interesting properties (making characters fly outside vision)

No, he doesn't need it. Grapplers must always stay bottom tier, because only grapplers enjoy playing grapplers

Tamaki from Aquapazza is THE top tier grappler; putting Potemkin’s best version to shame.
-unblockable laser that stuns
-high damage in almost every situation
-mitigates weakness of range and getting in with proper partners that don’t run out (only on a timer- try Ma-Ryan, Yu, Rina, or Ulruthy)
-easy 50-80% off command grab or buffered super
-relatively easy to put into high emotion
-isn’t cross up and combo food as she’s the same size as most of the other characters
-easy natural combos that lead to oki or setups
-DP and suplex command grab have invincibility
-giant swing can wipe 50% or more from you and is regular command grab. Super can wipe 70-80% off you in regular to high emotion
Weaknesses: range is short, can be hard to get in, MUST avoid actions that lead to low emotion
Yeah, Potemkin really doesn’t have shit on her and she was created this way on purpose
Also Bass has ground throw loops in Dead or Alive 3

For anyone liking grapplers these give this version of Potemkin a run for his money or are outright better:
-Tamaki (Aquapazza) outright better than Potemkin 50% meterless at any point, 70-80% with meter, assists, kills everyone in 2-3 exchanges meterless 2 with 1 meter
-Bass (Dead or Alive 3) continuous ground throw loops and setups that are completely broken and can’t be escaped (or very difficult to escape).
-Zangief (Street Fighter EX Plus @) THE best version of this iconic character. Low hitting completely invincible super that guarantees a FAT on guard and does good damage on hit. Goes right through fireballs too. Totally invincible lariat with huge range. (Only Blair will be your rival)
-Exodus (Fighting Layer) Double 360 super guaranteed after blocked lariat, flame breath (which can function as a decent anti-air), body splash, close blow quits, blocked lariat super. Combos work on him just as everyone else, decent normals and aerials. Double 360 super also is instant and totally invincible meaning it will go through everything in close range and has no recovery that can be punished without a move already on screen before. Clemence and Darun (his rivals or replacements really don’t have shit on him)
3/4 of these characters also came before Potemkin

Yes it’s pretty good. There’s 1 point character and 1 assistant. It’s got satisfying combos and runs off the SF4 engine. Tamaki and Chizuru are totally broken and rule the top tier exclusively.
Finally, now I don't have to feel bad in rev if I ever face a pot as sin player. The holy crusade is justified.

The main thing i love and feels just so right about strive pot is garuda. A dp baiting unburstable plus af move that all graplers need. Now if acent core pot had that. Hed be my new fave. Plus hed be more busted lols.

Slidehead pre-Strive was unblockable as long as you didn't hit them with your head

Slidehead is an unblockable in old GG. As long as you don't hit them with Pot's head as he falls, you can't block.

Also I've heard that if you do it right, you can gain enough meter to infinitely do the loop. Don't know for sure if that's true though.

Z Broly is the grappler that is also the best zoner in the game, not to mention how his moveset is full of armored moves, basically built in hammerfall on his Heavies, he literally becomes immune to most assists with his barrier, lmao. He doesn't have a stupid strong unblockable loop, but he more than makes up for it with his neutral tools. I just think there's competition for "arcsys' strongest grappler"

I know giganter does a lot of stun, but couldnt you intentionally get hit by it so pot at least doesnt get the meter back
The hit allows for combo into HK too and IIRC results in the same meter gain (maybe more but don't quote me?). This also catches jump outs which is why you're forced to take the slidehead rather than hold up back.

Yep you got it. Hammerfall Break makes it possible for Pot to space Slide Head to be unblockable and still OTG

I haven’t played AC only a bit of +R so it might be hard for me to say this but I think AC Potemkin is Arc System’s OP grappler while I think the most broken grappler they’ve made is Z Broly, there’s quite a few reasons to say Z Broly but I think to sum it up, he breaks a lot of the rules of being a grappler like having the best projectile in the game?!

I HATED this guy. I will admit that is the best designed grappler I have ever seen. But damn playing Order-Sol vs him is no fun. I hated that match up so bad that I was able to consistently instant block 2S to negate its vacuum effect.
