This randomly popped up on my page and I watched out of curiosity, but god the little girl who played Mail did such an amazing job really embodied her character. I saw her make a lot of faces Dove made herself doing the role. Amazing acting from such young kids
they absolutely crushed it! i was just expecting this to be a normal play, but i was pleasantly surprised on how good the set was and how well they all acted! i also love how they put their own little spin on it instead of doing it exactly like the movie. kudos to all of the kids and adults that made this amazing show happen!
Can I just say this is excellent especially for the boys Ben was so good and same with jay and mals voice is so pretty and all of them did amazing and at such a young age. if only was so good the actors that played Ben and mal have amazing voice and they sound so good together great job
Disney develops musicals to license for youth productions from many of their movies. To have enough musical material, the script combines plot elements and music from both of the first two descendants movies, along with some additional music adapted from animated films.
Why did this actually impress me- surprised that the kids that age, are so good at acting! The crew and directors did great on this one love to all of them! Can’t believe the actor who was Regina George here!
Thank you for your kind words. Regina / Mal had never had any role other than ensemble until 6th grade, so she had to learn acting on the fly that year. Still a work in progress in that area.
Having multiple kids who can sing as well as Mal, Evie, and Prince Benjamin is unusual for a pre-teen cast. The kids received a lot of production support (set, costume supplier, sound, lights, experienced directors, rehearsal time,...) similar to what you might see in a high school production. Even with all this support, most shows don't work as well as this one.
I do Musical Theater too, and these kid's did a REALLY good Job. I love their voice's, all of them. And the costume's & prop's are just perfect. The director and the whole crew did a great job on this one. 😭✨
Alright. I admit I tend to underestimate kids thus I watched this ironically. But these kids are awesome. I'm also glad that the majority of the older characters are played by older kids, it looks a lot neater than other versions I've seen.

Yes, back in 6th grade. Cady = Evie. Gretchen = Fairy godmother. Damian = Jafar. Mrs. George = Audrey, Sonja = Carlos, Mr. Heron = Doug. There was a separate Pre-teen cast of Descendants with Karen = Mal and Janis = Evie.

From what I could tell, the only difference between the junior version and the regular version was the amount of shtick of the evil parents.
