There's nothing more pathetic than a grown-ass man taking it out on the bully's kid...🙄 whose father, in most cases, has grown and matured. Unlike their former victim.

What's sad is Snape's inability to move past his bad experiences.

Honestly, Whitebeard actually seems like a good guy who never had ambition, he always just wanted a family - simple and all that.
Roger was more ambitious and honestly from what Garp said, a potential sociopath. He was willing to attack entire nations just for insulting his crew - even Luffy wouldn't go that far. Seeing how many people hate him compared to how few hated Whitebeard, it honestly shows that he was never a good guy compared to Newgate.
Although they're both pirates, I feel like Whitebeard is simply the superior man due to his heart. Roger honestly comes off, from what little we know about him, as a more dangerous and potentially heartless version of Luffy to anyone who he doesn't consider to be his friends.
He went as far as to let the captain Squard live while murdering all his crewmates, despite fearing losing his own crewmates, makes me view him also as a hypocrite of sorts. Like he doesn't care who he hurts, even people who don't deserve it, as long as his crew is happy.

The moment Akainu said "if you stab him I'll spare the rest of you" I knew it was all lies. I mean I kinda knew it already but this made me 100% sure. Akainu didn't even spare his own men who begged him to let them leave the war, why would he spare PIRATES?
