Husk’s story is actually so tragic because of how realistic it is. He got cocky, believed there was no way he could ever loose, until he inevitably did. And he lost everything, even his own soul all because he lost one game and put all his cards on the line.
i was actually thinking abt that, i thought that was more like how the soul owners act, like alastor: he thinks clearly, and knows what hes doing, and val is loose, and is defiantly not clear minded nor have a strong bond w angel unlike husk and alastor. husk and alastor are used to it so far and val looks like he haddent owned angel that long and cant control angel neither, so... power and mind like as well as control in my theory.
my interpretation was it was because angel as he says belongs to Val in the studio, only in the studio, but outside of it he gets to do what he wants, but clearly Husk's contract is more restrictive, he could literally be summoned on a whim in the pilot and isn't able to leave, as he states in the show he wouldn't stick around if he could leave at one point.
I love how gentle Husker is dancing around with Angel. And how Angel get progressively more comfortable, leaning onto him towards the end of the song. It's such a nice way to show the little repairs to his soul, recovering from the brutally he's always put through
Imagine being depressed and someone calls you a loser in a catchy song with alot of swears and suddenly you're not depressed Crazy how the world seems to work

Listening to this song makes me feel so happy despite how depressing the context is. I think it's SUCH a good example of how to approach someone suffering from an abusive relationship, whether it be substances, another person, etc., from outside the relationship and just a good example of how to show empathy in general. This scene does a great job at showing us why Husk was the best choice to go after Angel, and perhaps the ONLY person who could bring him back to the hotel, because he reveals a lot about himself and how he's come to terms with his mistakes, while also telling Angel that he's been inspired by him to heal not just to be okay again, but to actually be BETTER. And so he gets to show Angel that accepting your flaws isn't accepting defeat and that it's actually the first step toward healing, and as the song progresses you can see their commitment to each other in the moment and their unspoken promise to stick together to help each other heal and improve, and we get to see some glimpses of that in later episodes too which is really cool.

I love the song but yeah that part made me giggle LOL. The way he was just sitting looking sadly at the floor but the SECOND Husk said “that’s fine by me” he was up on his feet with a gigantic smile on his face and singing along (the weird part is that because the song isn’t overly positive, it actually makes it MORE believable that it worked that fast lol)
I love these two so much and this scene is just a perfect, cut the bs, complete honesty with each other moment. Also, i will never NOT laugh at "they're f*cking singing???!!!!" 😂
I love this song so much. "Lose your self loathing, excuse yourself let hope in" hit like a ton of bricks. Something about the yeah you fucked up, but that doesnt make you inherently bad message really resonates. Great writing
So now that someone else pointed it out, you can see exactly when Husk really starts to get closer to angel. Watch his eyes. The pupils stay sharp up to the point he says "baby, that's fine by me". Then the soften and dilate.
@@DravenFrankenstein Not really, he looks like a lot of overlords, namely the ones focused on an aspect, like alastor, vox, and zestial as example. He is too overdesigned and specific to not be an (ex atleast)overlord.
@qwery123844 I hope they show some of his like, themed overlord powers! Or a big ol scary form at least lol. Wonder what his specific abilities are? Like Imagine - turns into a huge, fanged wild cat and has lion sounds or smthng (like how alastor goes deer-ish)
It isn't overly surprising. While some of the overlords we see during the meeting have been around awhile, others may be relatively new. Alastor took out multiple overlords when first arriving in Hell and others probably are killed during the yearly extermination. Husk may have gained power after an extermination or even because of Alastor himself, then promptly lost it after losing a gamble.
this song honestly hits so hard, like when Husk said you can’t face the world sober and dopeless, it just rlly meant a lot that the creators of this show were able to portray how it actually is for a lot of people, it’s beautiful easily my fav song throughout season 1
To think that Husk the Bartender, allowed Angel to feel how he was feeling in a positive way, all the while letting out one of the best hits so far on this show 😅 healing, friendship, character building. The episode had it all.
@@Gercekay I will say I don't ship them personally but I definitely see the dynamic they could have I more see them as good friends relating with their similar issues
I can be a notoriously difficult person to cheer up, people saying 'i believe in you', 'it'll be fine', 'don't worry', etc. has always just bugged me. I know they're trying to help but when you've been through a lot of shit, it's hard to take that stuff seriously and believe it. But this song... this song really cheers me up. Husk isn't trying to pull any punches or act like things aren't shit. He's like 'yeah, things absolutely are shit, but you don't have to feel alone in it. I get you' and I just appreciate that so much. Bravo to the writers, I imagine that they haven't necessarily had any addictions or been sex trafficked (it's possible, but trauma can sometimes be a barrier to success in life when not dealt with, especially of such a severe nature) and yet I feel like they capture my feelings really well with songs like this and 'Addict'.
It reminds me of the anecdote from the West Wing, of the guy who jumps into a hole with his stuck friend: "What're you doing? Now you're down here stuck with me!" "Yeah, but I've been down here before. I know the way out."
Honestly, the best part of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss is that none of the main cast questions where the massive "LOSER" sign came from or why they just spontaneously burst into song and dance or where the music comes from. Sure, the background characters might, like that one loan shark, but for the most part the main cast just rolls with it. Like they've accepted that Hell is a musical and this is just part of their punishment.
It does help telling the story, but it doesn't contribute to the story... It's odd how I find the "filler" songs really good (About all filler songs: Happy Day In Hell, Stayed Gone, Poison, Loser Baby, Hell's Greatest Dad, Welcome To Heaven & More Than Anything (Reprise))... Wish that Angel Dust became a slightly better person by S1E4 (Masquerade), because this episode was written amazingly, but apparently it seems like a filler episode...
@@AMercenary...Withaheart Angel Dust did become better, but unlike Sir Pentious, Angel Dust is going to have to both overcome his difficulties and escape his contract with Valentino. Angel Dust is also in a way rougher spot than Pentious was
He says he sold his soul to save his power, but he doesn't seem as strong in this episode as I'd think an overlord would be. I wonder if Alastor is holding Husk's power back or something? Edit: Ffs, why can't more people just let me have my fun little theory in my head? I'm not saying it doesn't have flaws, I just think it's a cool idea. Edit #2: upon re-reading that last edit, i got a bit defensive, sorry bout that.
One he probably wasn't all that strong overlord wise plus he most likely lost a lot of power before he met alestor. And I'm going to assume his true strength isn't in a straight fight.
@shawndukes7409 I considered that, but frankly I like my idea better lol Could set up a cool scene later where husk has to ask alastor for power for some reason, or alastor could unlock his power to make him attack people? Idk, it's all speculation but I think it'd be interesting
Overlord power appears to be based on the amount of souls they control. If husk gambled all of his souls away, and then sold his own to alastor, he'd be significantly depowered, no better than a regular sinner
I must say, this is probably one of the best songs I've heard from Hazbin Hotel in a while. I also love them both their voices fit perfectly with the characters for this scene. French Kiss for you!❤❤
3:03 The differences in how they're "tied up" in their deals is interesting. Angel's ropes are much looser and there are less of them. That could represent the skill of the contract holder as Alastor would likely make a far harder deal to get out of than the flighty Valentino. Angel probably has dozens of ways he could break his deal but then where does he go? The Vs hold all the power in the city and would target him immediately for defying them. Husk's deal is far harder to get out of, I imagine, but less outright and constant abuse. You could also view it as a difference in power balance since Husk seems a lot less powerful than Alastor while I have no trouble imagining Angel being able to kill Val, the problem there is the same as Alastor is having with Vox, though, in that they can beat ONE of them, but not the other two standing right behind them, too. I'd love to see Husk and Angel get together and become a literal power couple. The two them, once free of their deals, could totally take over Val's side of the business if the 3 Vs were taken out.
Your analysis might be correct since Angel manged to find a loophole to the contract, in that, Val only has control over him while Angel is in Val's studio, so by being at the hotel and V's studio (notice that Val doesn't have exact power in other locations as per contract). Meanwhile, Husk is bound to Alaster and that contract seems to be much tighter and less prone to loopholes as Husk is forced to help out the hotel by Alaster and is massively in a disadvantage when Husk calls out Alaster.
@@coolyeh1017 After watching the trial episode I can't help but agree with the eye color theory that black eyes signify they've sold their soul, red that they own other souls, and yellow that they only own their own soul. Angel has one normal yellow eye and one black one which would go along well with Val only having control of him inside the studio. No wonder Angel wanted to move out so badly. So long as he lived in VVV tower he was a slave 24/7
I see a lot of people making the connection to both husk and angel having their souls owned by an overlord. And while thats true, and its a nice connection for them to have, I feel like Husk being an ex-overlord will help angel to see not all sinners are bad. His only examples of overlords (who are considered the most powerful sinners and usually representative of the population) are Alastor and the Vees. Not exactly the best examples for what the population can offer. But seeing someone who WAS an overlord being this nice, maybe it'll help Angel see that not everyone is an irredeemable asshole, and maybe that'll help him work towards redemption himself
Everyone is talking about the characters, but I want to say the voice acting / actors are top notch. You can feel the emotions in their voices. I think it's not as easy as people think. I have a lot of admiration for those who do such a good job.
no but no longer being free by being owned by a company is. they did fine on Hullovaboss being independent, Hazbin is owned by Amazon Prime who are notorious for laying out certain rules and such. They probably made it so originals couldnt reprise roles. The owning company makes many changes to the way they want things and not what the actual creators want, happens all the time in videogames companies like EA is notorious for milking a company, changing the game how they want it and eventually killing off the company they bought for the series to end.
@@generalagondray Who's to say that it happened though? Is there definitive proof that Amazon prime stepped in to put Broadway actors in the show, and not Viv? Because let me tell you, Viv is a fan of Broadway. She would want Broadway actors in her show. Additionally, why does it matter so much to you that the original cast got replaced? Does it really matter to the story, or any of its points on redemption?
Usually, it's hard for me to watch these songs because sometimes there just cringe and it reminds me of high school musicals but this one is really nice and catchy. Sometimes we all just wanna be told it's alright and have someone swing us around while singing and dancing.
In the echoing halls of personal struggle and self-acceptance, few things resonate as deeply as music that speaks directly to our souls. The song "Loser, Baby" from Hazbin Hotel has become a haunting reflection of the battles many of us face within ourselves. Alongside "ADDICT," also from Hazbin Hotel, these songs weave a narrative that's painfully familiar to those of us who've danced on the edge of despair. 🎶💔 "Loser, Baby" isn't just a song; it's an anthem for the bruised, the broken, and the battling. With lyrics that cut to the core of self-loathing and despair, it reminds us of the days when pushing ourselves to the edge seemed the only option. "So things look bad, and your back's against the wall...You're feelin' filthy as a dive bar bathroom stall" - these lines aren't just words; they're a mirror to the darkest moments many of us have endured. 🖤 This song does more than just outline the shadows of our existence; it invites us to look at them squarely, acknowledging that "everyone is a loser and everyone walks in their own shit." It's a somber realization but also a strangely comforting one. In a world that often feels isolating in its trials, "Loser, Baby" extends a hand, reminding us that it's okay to be a loser, it's okay to hate everyone because, in the end, "We're losers, it's okay to be a losers." Reflecting on the song and its impact, it's impossible not to see the parallels in my own life. There were times when the weight of existence seemed unbearable, when I wondered how I was still standing when it felt like anyone else would've crumbled. Yet, here I am, having navigated through the descent of depression, finally seeing glimpses of hope. 🌈 But hope is a fragile thing. "Loser, Baby" captures that precarious balance where allowing oneself to hope feels like tempting fate. "As soon as I hope, it all falls apart" - a line that doesn't appear in the song but might as well have, for it encapsulates the fear of crumbling under the weight of newfound optimism. Despite the personal victories, the fear of returning to a place of despair looms large. "Loser, Baby" doesn't sugarcoat this reality. Instead, it lays bare the raw, often ugly truths of our struggles, wrapped in a melody that's both haunting and heartbreakingly honest. In sharing this song reflecting on "Loser, Baby," it's not just about sharing a piece of music. It's about acknowledging the battles, the resilience, and the shared human experience of feeling lost and found in cycles. It's a reminder that even in our lowest moments, there's a communal solace in music that understands, that says, "you're not alone." So here's to the losers, the survivors, the warriors in their own right. May we find comfort in the shared anthems of our struggles and remember that it's okay to be a loser because, in some way, we all are. 🎵💖 #HazbinHotel #LoserBaby #MentalHealthAwareness #ItsOkayToNotBeOkay #MusicHeals

I love Husk's singing voice omg-
I love husk
Dr Facilier's still got his pipes
Keith Davids is honestly the last person i expected in this show but i ain't complaining
I love this song so much. "Lose your self loathing, excuse yourself let hope in" hit like a ton of bricks. Something about the yeah you fucked up, but that doesnt make you inherently bad message really resonates. Great writing
1:21 angel, thinking his say something positive
The end "their he is! THALERE FAFKING SINGING?" got me on the floor😂
So now that someone else pointed it out, you can see exactly when Husk really starts to get closer to angel. Watch his eyes. The pupils stay sharp up to the point he says "baby, that's fine by me". Then the soften and dilate.
I think is when Angel says “ I sold my soul to a psicopathic freak" But you are right , Thats cute as hell!!!!
"I was an overlord once y'know?" WHATT
EDIT1: didn't expect for this to blow up but okayy
That came out of nowhere
It's true :>
this song honestly hits so hard, like when Husk said you can’t face the world sober and dopeless, it just rlly meant a lot that the creators of this show were able to portray how it actually is for a lot of people, it’s beautiful easily my fav song throughout season 1
2:22 is when Angel let's down his guard when Husk starts dancing with him :,)...♡
To think that Husk the Bartender, allowed Angel to feel how he was feeling in a positive way, all the while letting out one of the best hits so far on this show 😅 healing, friendship, character building. The episode had it all.

I honestly am in LOVE with huskiness voice
Gives me chills on how good it is!
Makes me smile every fucking time 😂❤

It reminds me of the anecdote from the West Wing, of the guy who jumps into a hole with his stuck friend:
"What're you doing? Now you're down here stuck with me!"
"Yeah, but I've been down here before. I know the way out."
finally someone who understands me.
Like they've accepted that Hell is a musical and this is just part of their punishment.
think Disney's "Enchanted" when Giselle bursts into sing at the park and everyone except Patrick Dempsey's character just goes along with it
@@japaneseanimefreak93 EXACTLY!

I keep listening to this and Poison. The two songs help tell the story so well.
Fr!!
Angel Dust is also in a way rougher spot than Pentious was
STOP U JUST EXPLAINED MY WHOLE DAY!And-yesterday,now that i think about it..uh-im obsessed with them both 💀
Keith Davids voice is a gift to the world.
Husk with the umbrella makes him feel a lot more like Facilier.
@shawndukes7409 I considered that, but frankly I like my idea better lol
Could set up a cool scene later where husk has to ask alastor for power for some reason, or alastor could unlock his power to make him attack people? Idk, it's all speculation but I think it'd be interesting
Overlord power appears to be based on the amount of souls they control. If husk gambled all of his souls away, and then sold his own to alastor, he'd be significantly depowered, no better than a regular sinner
@@superanimeniac I guess that makes sense, yeah. Still like my idea better tho lol
Good theory

I must say, this is probably one of the best songs I've heard from Hazbin Hotel in a while. I also love them both their voices fit perfectly with the characters for this scene. French Kiss for you!❤❤
Husk's voice is so soothing
You're probably straying too far from canon, but you could still write a fanfic about it.
CAN WE ALL TALK ABOUT HE WAITS FOR ANGEL TO TAKE HIS HAND INSTEAD OF GRABBING IT?

happens when you sell out. i just found this went past pilot but owned by fn amazon
@@generalagondrayreplacing actors isnt "selling out" wtf
no but no longer being free by being owned by a company is. they did fine on Hullovaboss being independent, Hazbin is owned by Amazon Prime who are notorious for laying out certain rules and such.
Does it really matter to the story, or any of its points on redemption?
we require more husk.

"Loser, Baby" isn't just a song; it's an anthem for the bruised, the broken, and the battling. 🖤
This song does more than just outline the shadows of our existence; it invites us to look at them squarely, acknowledging that "everyone is a loser and everyone walks in their own shit." It's a somber realization but also a strangely comforting one. In a world that often feels isolating in its trials, "Loser, Baby" extends a hand, reminding us that it's okay to be a loser, it's okay to hate everyone because, in the end, "We're losers, it's okay to be a losers."
Reflecting on the song and its impact, it's impossible not to see the parallels in my own life. There were times when the weight of existence seemed unbearable, when I wondered how I was still standing when it felt like anyone else would've crumbled. Yet, here I am, having navigated through the descent of depression, finally seeing glimpses of hope. 🌈
But hope is a fragile thing.
It's a reminder that even in our lowest moments, there's a communal solace in music that understands, that says, "you're not alone."
So here's to the losers, the survivors, the warriors in their own right. May we find comfort in the shared anthems of our struggles and remember that it's okay to be a loser because, in some way, we all are. 🎵💖
