Prince wasn't just more creative... he could sing, dance (in heels), play multiple instruments, produce, act, and probably get any woman he wanted with no more than a look. He was way more talented than Michael, and I love Michael's songs and performances. The world is less amazing every time we lose an artist like both of them. 😢

Only thing he had on Michael was that he could play instruments other than that Michael the all around better artist Prince has no album that can compete with thriller nor do he have a song that’s better than beat it …as a musician Prince maybe better but it’s a reason the general public liked Michael more

@@Kai2times I honestly think it’s a very unfair comparison between the two amazing artists.
I love them both for different reasons.
You’re not wrong on the musical instrument thing, but somehow Michael managed to express the notes via vocalizing them to his band.
Which is the talent in it of itself. Just sayn.. lol

Prince and Michael are 2 diff types of musical geniuses. Michael was a genius at writing, arranging, dancing, harmonies, and esp music videos. Thriller propelled both Michael and MTV into the stratosphere. Prince is a genius in that he could play 27 instruments. He was an excellent guitarist but is underrated as a drummer, pianist and bass guitarist). He wrote, composed, produced, arranged and performed most of the songs on his pre Purple Rain albums. He later included his band members in some of those processes, esp w later albums. His vocal range (esp his falsetto) is very impressive. Check out I Wanna Be Your Lover and Let's Go Crazy as prime examples. He created "The Minneapolis Sound" a subgenre sound/style of R&Bmusic. He also created great bands like The Time and Mazarati (two of my fave bands); girl group Vanity/Appollonia 6); and The Family. He also wrote numerous hits for the above protégés and major artists. I remain a fan of both artists.

I was lucky to see Prince in concert here in Houston. Michael Jackson was and still is the king of pop, but Prince didn't create pop music. His music was influenced by his father, who was a jazz artist, mature and sexy music. That's why you can hear blues and jazz infusion to make the sound that is only Prince.

Many guys back then and most guys today assume he was too effeminate to be straight; couldn’t have been both.
It wasn’t a second thought in the minds of women.
He sang to us, sensually and with passionate funky fun.
We were enviously jealous of the women he preformed with.
He was in-tune with women, understanding what they liked and what they wanted from their man (look, style, talent, confident, creative).
Many times to get that deeper connection of understanding, men have to show that sensitive, awkward, effeminate side.
With Prince nearly everything he did was an endearing turn-on (even the ass-out yellow outfit).
He knew women thought he had a fine ass and he wasn’t afraid to show us.
Just keep in mind who Prince was singing to and preforming for; it wasn’t gay men or drag queens.
We were his target audience so whichever guy we happened to be dating or dancing with at the time, was along for the Prince ride whether they liked it or not. 😂

I was a fan of both Prince and MJ from the age of 7 back in the 80’s. And I would say that while MJ had more marketable mainstream appeal for a wider audience, Prince was undeniably a much more tallented all-round musician, song-writer and performer. He was much more original, diverse and creative too. MJ was great at what he did, but in my honest opinion what he did wasn’t even close to being on the same high level as Prince.

I personally believe he was one of the best musicians ever….he wrote, composed, and sang every album …he mastered over 30 musical instruments…Prince was the epitome of musical genius. He was famous before I was born but it’s never too late to become a Prince fan lol I discovered him in the 90s. He was built for this shit. Effortlessly. Treated performance as a blood sport. Lastly. He dropped 46 on the Minnesota timberwolves starting 5. Strongest pimp hand in the gane

Prince and MJ are just two different kinds of creative imo. Like, this one time MJ got sued in court because some chick claimed he stole a song from her but he had meticulous records of his version which predated hers. In the hearing, he was asked to detail his songwriting process and it was wild. Mans literally heard every instrumental line in his head, beat boxed out each part the way he heard it, then had house musicians play with him because he couldn’t do all of the parts at once lol. Meanwhile, Prince was an entire artist from head to toe with his work.

If you want to know about his work ethic and genius as a musician, find an interview with his first engineer for nearly five years, Dr Susan Rogers. He was in his late teens and early twenties then. He was so prolific in his new music that she, while paid well, was on call 24/7 and no excuses for missing the summons. After she left Prince she enrolled in Berkeley and is now a Professor there. She doesn’t think we will ever come across anther genius like Prince. Music poured out of him and his memory and recall were infallible. I think I like him!

    Adore
    Raspberry Beret
    Love Bizarre
    Comtroversy
And definitely watch Purple Rain. The video will make more sense.

There is a song on the album called "Darling Nikki" that is highly suggestive. It could be interpreted in a few ways. There is a masked lyric at the end.

He showed each band member how to play his part on their instrument, because Prince could play their instruments better they could according to the band members. Prince could not write music. He recorded the hummed parts and arranged them for each band member showing them what he wanted. Music was in his head always, a blessing and a curse. He once said that while cleaning his teeth a beat develops with his tooth brush and he has to get down to the studio to record the song. When he started a song he usually finished it. This is why at 24 he had plans drawn up for Paisley Park so he had his own studios whenever he needed one without having to fly anywhere from Minneapolis where he chose to stay and live. He claimed that WB owed him over $700,000,000 for reimbursement for no charges by him for his studios and any expense entailed in the production of his music. He also changed the music industry causing artists to claim ownership of their Master Tapes. He was definitely a thorn in the side of WB. Looking at how Hollywood operates, Prince was murdered. He was black, wealthy, too powerful in influence, owed money by WB, a lot of money, political and becoming more so. Being an entertainer caused fractures in his ankles, spine and joints exacerbating his use of prescription opioid pain killers. He was surrounded by enablers and he knew it was coming as his message said, “ just when you thought you were safe.”

if you thought This amazing - - Imagine if you'd heard/seen the full length version. It would Blow your mind. There's like 1/3 of the song left to go. And it goes in a totally different direction - - all ad-libs. It's Unreal.

Here's a list of Prince songs i think you should react to. If i say album version, music video version, or live version its because Prince would often cut stuff about the music video and Prince live was way different than in the studio.
'Nothing Compares 2 U Live At Paisley Park 1999' You probably heard Sinéad O'Connor version but it was originally written by Prince.
    'Controversy' album version.
    '1999' album version.
'Little Red Corvette' music video version.
    'Raspberry Beret' music video version.
    'Pop Life' album version.
    'Girls & Boys' album version.
    'Kiss' music video version.
'Sometimes It Snows In April' album version.
'I Wanna Be Your Lover' album version.
'Sign O' The Times' music video version.
And there so much more also there's often a lot of copyright problems with. Prince's music so i don't know if you're going to be able to react to some of these songs.

Prince was giving the androgynous look as artist like David Bowie and Little Richard did prior to him. We didn’t care because his talent outshined all of that. He was New Wave before New Wave was big…his infusion of R&B genres of Jazz, Rock, Soul, Funk, Disco, House, and Country was genius. Going to a Prince concert was a party. You must check out his other albums like Dirty Mind, Controversy, Prince, For You, 1999, Sign O The Times to name a few.

So excited that you liked this Prince song as well and checked out the Super Bowl performance. Experiencing Prince perform live is a whole other level. I recommend you check out a live performance of Purple Rain. My favorites are from the Syracuse show of the Purple Rain tour or the American Music Awards in 1985. Since you are in the Purple Rain era of Prince at the moment, I thought I’d also recommend a live performance of Baby I’m a Star. It’s up tempo, high energy, fun and funky. It’s a song from the Purple Rain album and was the last song performed in the movie. Here’s the link in case you want to check it out czcams.com/video/9Lgf2VU_M70/video.htmlsi=0Zpj3W3yllvu_W0Q

My absolute all time favorite Prince song! Masterpiece! This is the shorter version. The longer version continues on and gets really good past the fade out outro of this version. You should react to the full version based upon your positive reaction to hearing this track. Prince is an effing genius and you are 💯 correct about Prince being more innovative and creative than MJ as an artist. The more you hear of Prince, the more you’re going to really be blown away by his brilliance as an artist.
