I was a kid about 12 years old when I became aware of Glen Campbell. I was trying to play guitar and knew how great what I was hearing really was. He blew me away and though my musical direction was different I always listened to him play. One of the best things I ever heard was Glen playing "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes it gave me chills. I cried when I watched his documentary and again when I heard he passed. Talents like his are a rare and wonderful thing

It's such a beautiful thing. I love a man who can be strong, yet vulnerable. I love seeing interviews with Jimmy and Glen because of how they compliment each other. The more I listen to Glen speak, I am listening for things that might be interpreted as early Alzheimer's. I wish I could know when my mom's began. The only thing they did that was good period, man or women. Pack of witches, Whoopi, the head witch. Still waiting for her to leave like she promised.

My father was always listening to music on lp's and Glen was one of his many favorites. I love the memory of him with earphones on tapingvmusic 9n cassettes to listen to in the car . Miss you so much dad.

Jimmy is awesome on piano & although I'm a lifetime Campbell fan, CZcams taught me Glen has done it all!

Jim Webb was a musical genius, and this was one of his best compositions, but what really makes this song work is the intonation of Glen Campbell's amazing vocals.....it was the perfect song for a perfect singer.

"And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time" - Jimmy Webb
One of the best lyrics EVER written. Great song, made even better by the fabulous piano work of Jimmy Webb. As a composer, one should also note how absolutely minimal Jimmy made his work. Nothing that needed to be said was left unsaid. The economy of words is breathtaking, in itself.

When I was just a snot nosed rock n roller, my Dad to took me to the local FOP (he was a cop) one afternoon. They had a pool table, dart board, juke box and a shit ton of beer... I was checking out the juke box while he was smoking my ass on the pool table. I played Gentle on my Mind, By the time I get to Phoenix and Wichita Lineman. About the middle of the second song, my Dad said.... you like this stuff?? When I said YEAH, Glen is GREAT. I thought he was gonna cry. Now I'm crying because I think that's when he first understood something about me. I was still a shithead, but I felt like he looked at me different from that day on.
