Great video. I bought one of these about 10yrs ago from Nevada and it has worked well, easily tunes everything antenna wise I have thrown at it on 12, 11 and 10 meters.
I replaced the bulbs with led's as well and have tried different colours, green, white, blue, orange and white.
At the moment I have orange led's on the top edge of the meters and green on the bottom for 2 tone effect. I had to adjust the trimmers inside for the power level accuracy with a dummy load but that was no problem.
Most power I have run through is 200 watts with no problem but I would not try a KW ha. ha.
I drilled two holes in the top of mine so as to mount my Ranger 2950Dx on top and looks great.

If you don't know how to adjust the scale on the HP1000 powermeter here is my answer. When you open the housing you see on the left side 3 potential meters. The potmeter on the left is to adjust the 10watt scale. Most of the time that setting is oké but the most problems gives the 1000 watt scale. Most of the time that one is very optimistic. You have to test your output power with a other or calibrated power meter. Then if you know your output power in that setting of your transmittor, remove the powermeter and reconnect your HP1000. Turn the pot meter on the rightside until you read the same value on the 1000watt scale as on your calibrated pwr tester. The one in the middle is for adjusting the 100watt scale of course. I use the HP1000 for more the 10 years and it's still doing fine. They still sell these Zetagi HP 1000 and indeed they more then trippled the price since at came on the market.

Hi Pullfan236 , many thanks for taking the time to send this very much appreciated. I will note this for when i get a known reading snd set it accordingly. Good to know its still going after 10years! That says a lot about the quality, all the best and good dx. Mark

4:47 it's italian (zetagi is an italian company) and stands for rapporto di onda stazionaria ROS (basically swr in italian)

    How price's have gone up.
I bought one of these brand new back in 93 for £40.
I like them but some people say they are rubbish, everyone to there own.
There's another big transmatch available too also the 1000 but it has a built in antenna switch.
    Great video, thanks

This is kind of why I did the review as didn't seeone on the net, you have hit it on the head. Its everyone to their own, some will like it some won't but its ideal for what I need and wasn't too bad price wise but 'new' - wow thats somthing else!. Assuming yours is still going so shows they do last. cheers for the comment, appreciate it, all the best Mark.

Yes I still own mine and I still have the box for it.
The bulbs blew years ago but otherwise working as it should.i like mine, there big and chunky, they look great next to a homebase rig.
Maybe I will do some vids of mine

I had this in my car when I was younger in early 90's... 😁 Always an eye on it to preserve my amplifier edit: watt meter side need more graduations... 🤔 it''s very imprecise !

In the car - impressive!you would struggle to fit it in a modern car due to its bulk. There are some horseshoe trimmers inside that you can use to calibrate the readings. Thanks for the comment enjoyed reading it👍

Hi there did you ever find out which trimmers you adjust inside the meter ? Would love to see another video of you doing that.

I’d be very wary of running a kw through that unit as those variable caps don’t look meaty enough!

I won't ever be going near a Kilowatt - no long lost ''Italians"in my family, thats way too much power for me to use. But for me this meter will work fine for my application and I wanted to do a review video so people can make up their own minds on it. Lots of operating videos on the net but no reviews.

Good morning, I have a question and at the moment I do not find an answer ... When you look at the characteristics of a linear amplifier, one of the parameters is the input power, sometimes they say things like. Input power between 0.5 and 4 watts. .. (for a small 50W / 100W one) I imagine that is the power that the station should give so that the amplifier is activated .. I do not know ... and I wonder ... what happens if your station gives for example 10 W output on AM / FM and 25 W in SSB? .. the amplifier is no longer going to work?
Thank you and greetings from Andorra !!

    • @britishcbradio1055
      @britishcbradio1055  Před 2 lety +2

Hi Manel, yes thats right you cannot exceed the manufacturers input power or it will kill the amplifier. So if it say 0.5 - 4 watts and you put 10 watts in from your radio it will kill the amplifier. Generally 100 watts is the max you will need on AM, FM and SSB ,Hope that helps, anymore questions feel free to ask. 73’s

Hi, its so you can turn the meter lights on and off. This way you can leave it connected to the power pack and the meter lamps are not on during the day.

The only way to get true power output of a cb is with a dummy load. The left window is your swr forward and the other is reflect (that's how I use mine) and I got 5/9 to Norway on 60 watts on ssb but I still can't get to Sheppey lol

Mmmm maybe another want for my list. Have a good new year, all the best.

Neither of the variable capacitors are of the wide spaced transmitting type
This severely limits the power that the matcher can handle
Anyone attempting to run 1kw thru the matcher better have a fire extinguisher handy
