I saw red Warden miniatures has a decent free 3d file for some fancy salamander chapter symbol shoulder pads
I really like the video but there is one thing you did wrong the salamanders have black backpacks not green
Finally, I now have everything I need to paint every Ultramarine I come across glorious Salamanders green! VULCAN LIVES!!!
Quick tip: just add a yellow glaze to Ultramarines to turn them into a much better chapter ;)

I don't really play, but I do have an Iron Hands venerable dreadnought. I replaced the head with a more robotic Tau one and added some Mechanicum weapons on little mecha-tentacles or whatever they're called.
Video would be about 2 minutes long with the current state of iron hands lore lmao
I've heard of the Gorgon... Not a great head on his shoulders.

Look at the tastful thickness of the paint, the subtle highlights. Oh my God, he even put burn marks on the barrel.
A very Salamander army is 18 flamer Aggressors, 18 Eradicators, 2 Land Raider Redeemers, Vulkan, and an Apothecary Biologis with Bolter Discipline enhancement. It may be difficult to do mission objectives due to the small number of squads, but they are rather durable and capable of killing stuff.
Sounds absolutely brutal!
honestly i would swap out some of the eradicators and aggressors for heavy intercessors
Do you really need that many troops, when the enemy's infantry and vehicles/monsters are all charred, smoking ruins?

It took a ton of work, yes, but it was a new format, so that was always going to be the case. My first video took 2 months to make, haha
These guys helped me when i was in a very dark part of my life. I was depressed, absolutely hated myself, and the pandemic made things worse. I had a hard time picking my army when i decided to get into the hobby but i ultimately picked Salamanders and it was the best decisions ive ever made. I loved learning they're lore and painting them was really fun and now my mental health has greatly improved and so has my skill, tho I'm no where as good as you.

Man we really have a mental health crisis in the states. Technology, relationships (or lack of), pandemic and culture have really caused alot of people to hide away in a dark space. We need more help and good rolemodels to help lift the population out of the funk. Glad your doing better and wish nothing but happiness for you.

LETS GO!!! I LOVE SALAMANDERS!!! Other easy conversions are just using MK3 heads & Shoulders, Red-Warden miniatures also has some fantastic 3d printable bits!
Plus lyche skin makes great lizard scale fabric! Not my idea!

The Forge World Salamanders Decals for the Horus Heresy are absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
Yeah, I've heard even from people who like to keep things on a budget that the FW transfers are veeery nice
Sad, though, as they tend to go the way of the dodo without much warning or get replaced with newer sheets that have lost some of the magic :(
For the chapter symbol, it looks like the standard SM transfer sheets now come with Salamander specific decals. Finally getting some representation from GW is nice to see.
The transfer sheet from leviathan doesn't seem to have Salamanders on it
@@hidebehindapole8669Im talking about if you get something like a new box of eradicators the new transfer sheet has Salamanders on it. I was a little disappointed when they weren’t on the leviathan sheet but it looks like I’ll have plenty moving forward 😁

I know the danger of long videos can affect the way CZcams promotes them, but this was really engaging Guy. You will never convert someone who has been a Space Wolf since 3rd Ed so this should show you how engaging it was. (Loved the basing ideas.) I am looking forward to the next in the series.

I feel like you revisited the lava tyranids idea for the first lava base, and I can say that looks a LOT better than before the little differences means everything, maybe a neutral grey dry brush after wards and some ash black texture paint in some random areas and it’ll look legendary

Really like this new kind of video! Always thought I wasn't that bothered about collecting Space Marines compared to other factions but you've now got me thinking about Salamander successor chapter colour schemes! Also love a cork based base!

Absolutely one of the best chapter overview videos I’ve seen, and I’ve looked at quite a lot of them. I think you did a great job of capturing the nature of the salamanders who I love. Some great ideas that I’m going to try on the customization. Vulkan lives!
Fantastic video Guy; now I have a perfect excuse to make my own Slamanaders army
Some other things about the Salamanders too:
- Vulkan is a perpetual. Everytime he dies, his body disappears and he respawns somewhere else in the galaxy.
Vulkan lives, and his return is inevitable!
- Salamanders are very self-reliant; they frequently make their own custom field repairs to their weapons and equipment instead of getting it repaired by a Techmarine: no two Slamander weapons are the same, so you can go nuts with not just armour upgrades, but weapon upgrades as well!
Love the idea of this series, lore, hobby and tactics in one video. Also a good reference point for newer players wanting to find out more without the fear of going down rabbit holes. Keep it up! (looking forward to some of the successor chapters!)
The new studio looks great! And the Salamander looks even greater!! But i think instead of "Astartes Archive" it should be "Archive Astartes". Just seems fitting with "Adeptus Astartes".

I foresee this series being an absolute powerhouse! So much great info for conversions in one place. I'm forever asked by friends where to get bits and I've got an extensive library but its hard to remember all the companies. Will be grest to just point them to a video like this and the description for links. Great resource for years to come!
5:20 it's also worth pointing out that the Eldar (not sure if they were Drukhari at the time,) used to come onto Nocturne and hunt the people for sport before Vulkan was picked up by Big E. This is more of the reason why Salamanders strongly dislike the Eldar, but more specifically the Drukhari.

I love the Salamanders! Their colours, their lore, their primarch, their usage of "dragons" and fire... The only space marine mini I ever painted was a Salamander.
I play chaos space marines and my warband's lore is that they were Salamanders corrupted by the Alpha Legion...so I paint their skin black.
Btw, I really like that you chose the Salamanders as the first chapter in what I hope will become a series covering all the chapters. Blood Angels next, please :)

I love the idea for this series, and I'm really glad it started with the Salamanders -- super underrated chapter. Of course I'd love to see this branch out to other factions, like the Imperial Guard regiments, but I also know that's asking a *lot* given just how many Astartes chapters there are to go through!

I wish this video existed when I was just starting with Warhammer back at the start of 9th edition, Salamanders were my first army and working on them and playing games with them was a large part of what kept me sane during Covid. I'm really proud of how they look, and I've been meaning to go back and put the finishing touches on them and finish up the stuff that still needs more work, I'm going to try and utilize some of these tips when I do.

This was really timely, as I'd settled on Salamanders for my Leviathan marines. I was also planning on scratch molding some dragon hide on the pauldron, but wasn't sure how to approach it. Really appreciate the help this video is going to be!

Absolutely fantastic video! I quite like the idea of this "all in one" resource. The addition of a conversion section was also quite nice!
Regarding edge highlighting: if anyone wants to expedite it even more, I recommend keeping it patchy. Short lines here, dots there. Not worrying about completely highlighting an entire edge. It's faster and gives a chipped appearance - making it looked battle damaged and amplifying the effect if you've also added scratches.

Getting back into the hobby after a LONG hiatus, and bought the Leviathan box. I started painting the Tyranids to get used to painting again, and was going for the Salamanders as the chapter.

I'm not the most accomplished painter by any stretch, in fact I would say mine was the least good of the bunch, some truly amazing painters in the community! But I'm super happy with the freehanded flames and for an experiment (I'm an ork boy mainly) I don't think its too shabby!
