    I wish I saw your video before buying an electric pump. I totally agree, for me the manual pump is better, less pieces to clean , less restricted and much cheaper. Thanks

      So glad you agree! Yes I thought it would be a helpful video so other people can hear the pros and cons before deciding / purchasing in the future 👍🏻

    Thanks for this video. I completely agree. Being tied up to the wall was actually making me depressed. I would dread pumping and it felt like such a chore. I just switched to a manual pump on one breast and a Haaka on the other one to catch letdown, and it's a huge game changer. I am enjoying this method so much more than the double electric pumping I was doing before.

      So glad you could relate ! Wish I’d realised how good manuals were before I spent the money on the electric one - I expect they are promoted above others because they can fetch a higher price. It’s great when you find a method that works for you 👍🏻

      This is genius. I'm expecting my first in a couple months and this is genius. I recently picked up a Haakaa and don't even think of using it this way. Thank you!

      I agree. Electric pumps also feel really aggressive on my breast. The manual pump is a lot softer and enjoyable.

    I always just assumed that an electric pump must be better but you have changed my mind! You made good points. I don't think I would like the noise or being all tied up. Not to mention the time spent cleaning and assembling it.So I'm gonna try a manual one! Thanks!

    I use a manual and a Hakka when I'm working. I feel like it's more natural and working as a nurses aid in a hospital, I don't have time to hook up a pump! I also get way more out manually then an electric. I used both the electric Spectra and a Medela.

    • @graceyblossom
      @graceyblossom  Před 2 lety

      I agree, you get so much from a manual.
      I’ve never tried the Hakka I’ve heard so many great things about it though so I think I might pick it up when I return to work and see x

    Hi Gracey. I bought a breastpump with my first which was electric and i found it had so many parts to clean and I know what you mean about being limited. The manual looks great. I saw Jessica from mental health mom channel uses one that is handsfree and wireless and she was pumping whilst cooking. I was blown away when she showed she had pumped 10oz. I think they have come along way since i bought mine 8 years ago. Thanks for sharing ❤

      Thanks for watching Simone 😊 everyone’s breastfeeding journeys are so different and as you say some pumps are hands free and everything nowadays which is amazing - must be so good for families who exclusively express. Ah I know I dreaded cleaning and putting together all the parts of the electric one. Not very user friendly with a newborn! xx

    @tigereyes5 Před 2 lety +3

    Thanks for the comparison. I had the nuby on my registry list but my sister put me off it. Was debating which pump to get and looking at electric but it seemed the only one worth it was the elvie because of the convenience and the price seems hard to justify at this stage (my baby is due in a few weeks) so I got the haakaa to start with. Seems a safer bet to start with a manual one if you plan on exclusively breastfeeding, which I do.

    The Medela swing electric pump has terrible extraction and I thought I had problems with my supply until I used the manual pump and saw that my milk supply is actually 4 times what the electric one was pumping

    I had a Nuby with my first and hated it, it hurt , like you said very noise and everything felt wrong ! With my second i was lucky to be given a medela pump and it was a totally different experience , took less to empty the breast ( also very gentle even when i got mastitis and needed to use it) and it has less parts to clean, also it can be used wireless so you can move around. Have not used a manual one . Oh this makes me miss breastfeeding so much !

      Hey Olga thanks for sharing your experience it’s so good to hear other people’s thoughts on it too. Glad I wasn’t alone in not enjoying the Nuby pump much. The Medela was a totally different experience all together! Ah I know breastfeeding is amazing and I’m so grateful I was able to do it xx

    I totally agree that manual pumps are 100% more effective in emptying the breast than an electric pump. I get the same amount of milk using both but I hate the many parts of the electric pump, so many pieces to look after gives me anxiety. The manual pump drains my breasts very well, I don't understand why more articles online or videos on CZcams agree with this opinion!

  • @kateababyaflatandafiat3339

    Hi Gracey, this video was really informative. I tried a manual breast pump to start with but it took me forever to get a tiny bit of milk so I gave up. It's really good to hear your recommendation, there are so many to choose from. Not related at all but I love your cardigan! xx

    Omg I sold 2 electric breastpump. Really dont want to pump with electric. I have got a manual Medela. So happy. Very convenient

  • @marieclairesalisbury2478

    Hi Gracey💗 This was really interesting to watch, I used a manual pump with my middle baby as she struggled with latching at first so I used to pump to keep topping her up when we first started but stopped when we got latching sorted💗 Such a useful video hunny I can totally imagine the electric breast pump must be very time consuming and take a lot of time to set up and when ive seen video’s was surprised at how noisy they were too! I found the manual pump really quick and easy to use too and I used to have my eldest playing next to me while Megan was near me too as I was pumping away and loved being able to move about with it too😉 With my third littlin I had my manual pump ready incase I needed it but have not used this time around as with having three I found it easier to always pop her on he he!!☺️ All mine have only ever drained one side too,it’s funny I had read the same that they would feed from both sides but mine never did either he he!!😆 Loved hearing your experience and I totally agree that the manual pump worked for me too and they are so much cheaper as you say😉 You looked lovely as always hunny and your cardigan is so pretty the colour really suits you!!💕💗xx

      Thank you Marie! I feel like electric ones are pushed or promoted a lot more and there’s not so much on manual ones and clearly they work just as well and as you say so quick and easy to use! That’s so good that you were able to use the pump to keep topped up while you had an issue with latching. Breastfeeding takes a bit of perseverance but so worth it in the end. Exactly it’s so convenient to just be able to feed them and pop them on haha 😂 ah thank you lovely that’s really kind xx

    Hey mommas , I’m a first time mom and have really large breast. Like in the triple DDDs, do I have to get a specific type of pump ? I am scared that my breast are too big to fit into the handles that I see the breast pumps come with. Any advice would be welcomed thanks girls

    Thanks for this video! Very insightful. I’m also thinking of getting a manual over an electric. Do you use the medela bottles to feed your baby the pumped milk? If yes do you find that it has caused any nipple confusion?

      Hi Samantha,
      I’m sorry you feel that my channel is no longer for you. It’s ok to outgrow a channel if it’s not for your viewing. I have a young family so this is going to be represented in some of my content.
