Learn how to make Homemade Butter in a Mason Jar in this fun old fashioned activity for kids and adults alike! It’s easy to churn your own butter and make your own buttermilk!
I am from Tennesee in the South. We let the heavy cream get to room temp, then put into Mason jar, put 2 clean round marbles in the jar too, then shake the mason jar. Then when butter is made in the jar, separate the buttermilk from the butter, then wash the butter with ice water until clear, squeeze water out of the butter, then form and put into refrigerator or freezer. Makes butter quicker. Yummy butter!
Just found this video! Saw your other jar butter video. Can’t wait to do this with my kids. Can’t believe I haven’t done it yet. I did this in elementary school too
I remember doing this as a kid in school(60s). I'm 65 now and often reminisce on days gone by. I've tried TWICE this week and failed miserably TWICE! I used store bought heavy whipping cream and never got past the whipped cream stage.I tried in a mason jar like when I was a kid and I also used a blender. Both methods resulted in something that looked just like the cream I started out with. totally disappointed...TWICE! Bummer 'cause in NYC heavy cream cost me almost 8 dollars/quart (May25/2022).
LOL Love it...i sat down with my jar of heavy whipping cream and did the "interactive " thing while watching and giggling my ass off...and then BOOM i had butter made in the same time as you guys.... this is a great video and it really works cheers! :)
Keep going! I was shaking for like 20 mins and starting to lose faith but then all of a sudden it just changed before my eyes. Apparently if you put your cream in your jar and let it warm up to room temp it doesn't take as long. I did mine with cream straight out the fridge
Thank you for sharing! It's unreal how many people in the video just seen you put heavy cream in a jar and are still asking for a recipes :(

Hello from Lawrenceville GA
Can we take breaks while shaking, or we have to do it continuously?
I’m doing this right now and wondering isn’t the butter suppose to ball on it’s own. Can I have too much milk mixed in maybe?
That was fun and interesting
