Storyline:
Suffering from a advanced case of "spring fever," Hoss Cartwright is nonetheless assigned to pick up a prisoner in the town of Rimrock. Alas, Hoss arrives in the wrong town, where he ends up being jailed as a bank robber. Escaping, he finds shelter in the shack of local recluse Loulabelle (Glenda Farrell), better known around these parts as "Looney" (and not without good reason!) Written on IMDb.com
Reviews:
"The spotlight turns on Dan Blocker in this funny episode of Bonanza in which Hoss gets his annual attack of spring fever which makes him dangerous to be around.
When he accidentally breaks sheriff Ray Teal's gun hand just as Teal is about to go to Rim Rock in Utah to pick up a prisoner, Hoss goes in his place, but manages to buy a ticket to the wrong place, Red Rock to be precise.
The second he's there the bank gets robbed and the finger points to him as the only stranger in town. A lynch party is called for and Red Rock's hapless sheriff Stanley Adams can't stop it. But Hoss gets away and winds up in the camp of an old hermit woman played by Glenda Farrell. Between the two of them they find out what the real story is.
Despite Hoss Cartwright nearly being lynched this was a very funny Bonanza episode. Dan Blocker and Glenda Farrell worked very well together and are given good support by a familiar group of character actors." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com

I absolutely love Loonie and how she breaks almost every expectation for a woman at the time. Her appearance, her complete disregard for authority, her agency, and the fact that she does whatever she wants without care. She is my most favorite one time appearance on the show.
Sheriff of red rock is character actor Stanley Adams and he is always entertaining to watch.
Why did u run away ?
Well they were going to hang me so I figured I shouldn’t be hanging around…
LOL
Yeah. That was funny.
This is one of the most funny episode I have ever wanted this is one for the book I enjoy this episode so much it had me cracking😅😅😂😂 I love Bonanza it is a classic wow 😅😅😅😅❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Other funny ones are Three Brides for Hoss, Hoss and the Leprechauns, and The Wooing of Abigail Jones.
Moral: If your last name is Cartwright, never leave Virginia City. Or your daddy's ranch!
Sherif Roy Coffee is one of my favourite characters. Top Actor 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Loonie was a great character! "You figurin' to shoot me, or just poke me to death?"
Right? Good question.
😂😂😂 so true
My mom used to be a telephone operator, and she got to talk to
Hoss several times. She said he was always so nice and respectful.
Cool! He's always been my favorite character, I'm not surprised he was nice in real life too.
Wow your mom was alive in the 1860s? ;)
@@geoculus5606 Wow, they had telephones in the 1860s? 😜
There's a story about a guy who was drafted. He was on a flight before he shipped out. His seatmate was Dan Blocker. Dan asked if he wanted a beer. The kid turned him down because he wasn't old enough, Dan said, "I didn't ask if you could have a beer, I asked if you wanted one" so the kid drank it. Dan talked about his experiences in Korea and told the kid to look him up when he got back home.
The kid did get back home and was devastated when the news broke that day...
So cute..Little Joe patting Hoss' forehead in the opening scene.
Yes it is. 😂 Aren't they the most loveable men?
@@misslucky5474 I love all 4 of the Cartwright men.
ML and DB had a wonderful relationship.
Yes, I found that funny as well as the part where Joe just covered HOSS'S face with his hat when he was sitting in the chair sleeping with his mouth gaping open! Funny stuff!
That’s the absolutely cutest and funniest 😂 movie 🍿 that I believe I’ve ever seen. I had never heard of the actress Glenda Farrell but she was such a great actress in the role of Looney. 😅😅😅
Lol, " all I can do with gold is go out and buy myself a fancy funeral after they string me up ".
Glenda Farrell was adorable in this episode. She and Hoss made a funny team.
Agreed.
Exactly my thoughts 😂
@@yougetagoldstar ja 9999999999888888
I think so too. I love the actress and I love the character. The producers should’ve made her a regular on the show. She would’ve been a great addition to the boring cast of Virginia City.
@@leliad7602 imagine she, hoss, walter and obie
Another comedy episode. Sheriff drinking with the prisoner in the cell. Hoss walking around with his bottle.
I LOVED THIS EPISODE! It was soooooo good. This little woman with Hoss was a good pair up with the stroy line. She reminds me of someone I met before, who does'nt lie but pays attention to the question and how its worded before anwsering.
This was one of my favorites.
I really want to live in this time in America , and then go to see Pernell, Dan, Michael and Lorne...good actors.. I miss then always. So sad that they are dead😪
One of the few episodes I don't recall seeing before. Thank you Grjngo
Can,t get enough of BONANZA!
What the heck??😄😄😄it's like granny tonic!!!😄😄😄
Sheriff say kind of like having a pet LOL real funny
She was great - tough, sharp, edgy 👏
adam appears to be enjoying giving Hoss the medicine a little too much
I love the evil look Adam gets right before he and Little Joe tackle Hoss
I love how she tell truth 😅 and nobody believe her.
Good Ole Hoss... 😂😂😂
When I was four or five years old when the parents used Sunday eve to have family night. It was variety, Lawrence Welk and Bonanza. I am having a great time catching up on the episodes I missed. I love it!
A very entertaining episode.Never a dull moment.
The sheriff is the same actor who played the merchant who brought the tribbles in star trek "the trouble with tribbles" .
I thought he looked familiar.
That's why he looks familiar! thanks!
He also played Otis Campbell's brother in an episode of Andy Griffith.
Thanks for mentioning the Tribble episode of Star Trek! Ha ha. Forgot about that.
Lois Hire is the writer of this funny episode as well as the charming and funny Walter episodes. Any Friend of Walter's & Walter and The Outlaws.
Talk about awesome. I love these kind of episodes of Bonanza. That lady was so good. Hahaha 😂 so good and funny
This one was hilarious. Was so funny when she told the truth all the time.
cantankerous people are old salts, funny, good -- the kind of people I like to hang out with at a party
😂😂😂😂 so true 😅
So funny.. usually hoss has to take care of lil Joe.. lol
The highest rated episode of the entire series during it's original run
Any particular reason?
Interesting, I wonder why.
@@radic888Just happen stance, more people were at home viewing on that day for some odd reason. It just so happen to be so.
😂
Dag burnit It's over and a very good episode. Now we see why the Bonanza show had no chance without the Hoss character. Dan Blocker was the best part of it all 😇
Hi.
It's actually "dag burnit"..😁
@@adamfox9245 ok
That figure of speech is "dad burn-it."

I don't think I made that mistake.
Dan Blocker is simply perfect in this role! Those expressions! 46:00 :D :D I love it!
👍👌👏 Another great comedy episode. 😁 Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing this old series.
Best regards luck and health.
I love every episode, bags of laughter every time, so funny for western just love them that lil Joe ❤❤❤

@@GrjngoWesternSeriesthank you so much for this episode it was so funny I enjoyed watching this one it had me cracking😂😂😂😂
Man 😂 spring.. I feel ya hoss.. but what a good time era to experience it though! I'm envious..
The look on Adam's face before they hold Hoss down to give him the medicine.
I always found the character of Adam to always have an annoyingly arrogant and smug attitude especially in serious situations involving his brothers. In this case, he's getting his jollies from Hoss's situation with his Spring Fever. While humorous it is in a way, Adam getting happy about it can sometimes question if he'll ever learn that his "unique" attitude will always bite him in the ass and has too.
What was that medicine ?
@@reidhirsh3338 No way!! I disagree with you completely about Adam!! The real person who is annoying and arrogant is YOU!
Anyone know why it was that Hoss had to take that, but not Adam or Little Joe?
@@zxyatiywariii8 because Adam and Joe didn't have spring fever
Loony, what a great character!
That sheriff looks like he's taken care of enough pot roasts in his lifetime.
And several dozen apple pies.
Stereotypes were a "regular fad" in tv shows back in the day especially with law enforcement and soldiers in Western Themed series.
After serving on a submarine in WWII he went on to become a tribble salesman.

I love these humourous ones. I wonder if it is fool's gold.
Ridiculous but funny, one has to watch till the end!!! Thanks.
i have watched Bonanza seasons 3 times, on my fourth its funny how so many episodes i do not remember ever watching them. They do not make shows for TV anymore like back then.
Hilarious episode, they had fun making this one.
One of the of the best shows I had the pleasure of seeing! Tx fan
Another funny episode with Hoss is THE MASTER HOSS
Guess you meant "Maestro Hoss" which has to do with violin playing.
This sure was a fun episode to watch.
Hoss was a very good player...
Love the episode it was hilarious hoss and the ol lady were great.

Excellent episode! Absolutely one of my favorites ❤
"Maybe he's in the tent!". ❤️
That's a very funny episode 😃😂☺️
Love the ones Hoss being a big man myself
My son is about 6'3", and big, though not with the kind of girth that Hoss had. Works on a farm and is kind hearted, though not an intellectual powerhouse. So he does remind me of Hoss a bit.
Little Jo and Hoss 🥰 their vibes 🥂
That was a really good episode, thanks.
Glad to hear that. Thank you for watching 😄
10:50 Roy did a good job on this one. :D
Very Very Enjoyable and Entertaining this episode ; definitely Top 5 from Bonanza series !
Surprisingly they did an excellent job in the comedy episodes.hoss and the leprechaun is great.
Three times a charm
Poor Hoss Cartwright has Spring Fever 🤒 and in today he would be prescribed some medicine 💊.
This was a great episode.
That was a very funny episode.

Oh boy ...I ❤ this episode..so cute and funny.
I ❤ the actress who played Looney..it was a joy😃 to watch her.
Glenda Farrell
Love.. love.. love Bonanza.
Thanks "Grjngo - Western Series".
You're welcome, and thanks for watching. 😁🎥🌵

Instead of trying to get the $500 reward, she should have taken the large nugget and sold it.
32:00 that girl can throw!!
Yes I'm the first one, I love this one!!!
This seems to be the best episode of all! ! ! ?!
Enjoyable episode, watch again and spot a hick up at end with hoss he passes the chair. Then it cuts back before chair where he falls and breaks bottle
Adam's laugh right before Ben gives Hoss his medicine was funny. I wonder what the medicine was and what it was for.
They said the medicine was sulpher and molasses.
@@buckbuchanan4902 Oh, yeah!! I remember that now. Thanks for the reminder.
Sulphur and molasses technically is not a tonic. Nor would it cause that state of mind. This was right after Nixon started the war on drugs. In all probability from time period the " tonic" would be an alcahol based opium and hashhiesh concoction
A tonic to help Hoss cure his spring fever.
*sulfur
Hoss did not have that long-necked bottle of ' tonic ' when that fella led him away from the camp. Looney did not have it when she ambushed that fella with the rock, yet Hoss had it onnce inside the jail cell!!!
Hoss has been resting since 1973. 💀
Glenda reminds me of the old lady in The Golden Girls.
Were you thinking of the character "Sophia?"
That tonic.....it's got to be a combination of opium and hashhiesh
Trust & Loyalty? Ain't it good 👍
I LOVE THE ACTORS ALL FOUR THEY ARE LORNE GREENE AND PERNELL ROBERTS JR AND DAN BLOCKER AND MICHAEL LANDON FROM YOUR BIGFAN AND FRIEND ANN BENKOWSKI
I 💘 Dan blocker..he had values and stood by them! Even enough to leave America because of the Vietnam war
James Alley,
Where in the World did you get that lie from ??
To put the record straight, this came from Wikipedia' entry for Dan Blocker in the "Biography" section:
"U.S. Army
Dan Blocker was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. He had basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and served as an infantry sergeant in F Company,
2nd Battalion,
179th Infantry Regiment,
45th Infantry Division in Korea, from December 1951 to August 1952.
He received a Purple Heart for wounds in combat.[3][4]
In addition to the Purple Heart, Blocker received the
National Defense Service Medal,
Korean Service Medal with two bronze campaign stars,
Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation,
United Nations Service Medal,
Korean War Service Medal,
and
Combat Infantryman Badge."
How dare you defame a War Hero, Dan Blocker.
Because of his sevice & all other military personnel who served in this Korean Civil War, South Korea is a Free & Soveriegn nation & not controlled by a Communist Dictator.
🙏💜🙏
@@peterdarcy907 Thanks from all Dan Blocker fans for setting that fool straight

So , are you saying Dan Blocker moved away and lived in another country because of that?

Roy said locking hoss up is like having a pet! Hahaha
Both healthy and delicious! ♥️

How many people are out there?
743, last count. 😀😀😀
That's the population.
Love it !
Check out this colorized western show as well! czcams.com/video/OQlhIEOleOc/video.html
The sheriff in Utah is wearing the same 'tin star' badge that ' Roy Coffee ' was wearing. The jail cells in tv/movie westerns never, ever have a place to relieve one's self in !!!
Since the Sheriff is always a man, then he can do that outside.
@@lynettepalecek3141
That's the claim, anyway.
That is because they just hanged them or let them go or sprung them before they had to "go"...😂😂😂
These days they lock the healthy up.
OMG get over it.
I always wondered why none of Ben Cartwright's sons ever got Married!
Lil Joe did - he got married, moved out of his father's house, was building his own home, wife was pregnant, some evil men killed her and burned down the house! If was an excellent episode!! Sad though!!!
isnt the windows behind Ben in the dining area different???
Yes I am the second person
Wish there was something like that we could give the democratic party. Maybe they would do better.
No. The Democratic Party are controlled by the CCP which are Satanists. No medicine is going to help.
One of the fun things about Bonanza are all the goofs that were left in. Anyone notice that Joe's pants were split in the crotch when he fell behind the wagon? LOL.
So, you were looking at Little Joe's crotch? Whatever floats your boat.
They sure got some good looking babes in that town!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This episode is relevant considering whats been happening the last 3yrs. Tell people the Truth and they laugh and don’t believe you.
Lol.. The Truth is real funny.. If only you discover it.. Finally
If you were to break into a bank at night and steal the money , that is a burglary...not a 'bank robbery '. If a bank employee steals the money that is a theft by bailee,...not ' bank Robbery '.
If Hoss feels like that, then he should be at home resting. He shouldn't be out in the streets! Really?
What's he going to do? Rest at home for the whole spring?
I'm thinking it's allergies
Had Hoss stayed home, this episode would not have happened. I'm so glad he was free to wreck havoc in the streets. LOL 🤣😂😅
Actually, they tried to keep him with Sheriff Coffee on the pretense that Hoss was needed there, but Hoss "got away" when the sheriff went to get his hand attended to.
@@corey1054 Well maybe not the whole spring, but look at him, he ain't no good to nobody right now!
Fun episode, except for that sheriff of Red Rock. His laziness is irritating - but his utterly parochial view of outsiders makes me want to never leave my home again; for fear of running into someone in charge like him.
