I love this tv station. It is Chicago to the world. Hope Sinclair doesn't buy the station and that Tribune would not sell it. Notice the subtle hint of the 1980s Chicago's Very Own "9" in the 1994-1995 indents with the Lake Michigan "G-9".

Tribune called off its merger with Sinclair on August 9, 2018. That choice was made once the FCC raised "serious concerns" about the exact amount of money some of the stations being resold in the deal were being sold for. Tribune also sued Sinclair for breach of contract in the Delaware Chancery Court, alleging that Sinclair engaged in protracted negotiations with the FCC and the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division over regulatory issues, refused to sell stations in markets where it already had properties, and proposed divestitures to parties with ties to Sinclair executive chair David D. Smith that were rejected or highly subject to rejection to maintain control over stations it was required to sell.
