- How much money did I spent on DIAMOND PAINTING in the first 6 months of running my Craft channel? Let's talk NUMBERS. In this video I'll tell you exactly what I spent and how many diamond paintings and diamond painting accessories I bought.
I'll also give an estimate about how much I think this hobby costs per year on average - if you are a diamond painter who only wants to buy legally licensed diamond paintings from the premium diamond painting companies.

Some background information about me:
I'm Lisette, 44 years old and i'm Dutch (hence the accent). Twelve years ago I moved to France with Mr A. where we converted an old farmhouse into a Bed&Breakfast. We love living in the French countryside together with our girls, Marie (9y) and Annick (7y). I'm quite new to crafting. In October 2020 I discovered Paint by Numbers for adults and quickly thereafter Diamond Painting. I was hooked immediately. This channel is a way to share my passion for crafts with likeminded people and take on some fun, bold and crazy challenges. I actually really appreciate this video. We all know we are crafting addicts and it costs lots of money and we acknowledge it but never goes into details. I agree money shouldn’t be a taboo nor should their be judgment. What we all do with our money is our own business as far as the judgment goes. But I think it’s important to be real and talk about money. I’ve spent tons as well and it feels weird only being half open about it because of what others might say or think. I think spending it is ok as long as you have it and it’s making you happy. Do not feel obligated to do it coz of your channel. There’s tons of content you can do that doesn’t require spending money so don’t feel pressured in that way. Thanks again!

Love it, I have spent so much money on quilting quilting machine sewing machine embroidery machine the diamond art thing that I'm doing also doesn't even come close don't worry about the cost as long as you pay your bills have fun

Oh dear, I am beyond addicted.
I think diamond painters don't just like DP but we also enjoy shopping, collecting, sorting and organizing. This hobby conveniently satisfy all of these needs. I even branched into paint by number, embroidery, sticker by number, latch hook and cross stitch. I gave up social media and binge watching Netflix. I now do crafting most of my spare time while listening to audio books. I have completed about 12 books over a few months and my mental health is much better too! I did spend hundreds of dollars yes but literally zero regrets.

My first diamond painting order was from diamond art club, I ordered four paintings and it was over £200. glad I ended up enjoying the hobby. I love seeing the behind the scene stuff

@@LisetteCraftsandTells need to get you in the insider's information lol. All dp that depicts Disney in any way by Mandi Manzano will finish out the run and will not continue. This last ship dates I printed it out so I know when every dp from DAC is to be available, MM's artwork of Disney characters will not have another run. I am waiting on The Beast to come back it will be back. After that no longer will be. Hioe you know what I mean? Congrats on 💎Diamond Level!!
Thank you for your video. I also have a channel and I have not dared calculate the total I’ve spent! I only started in July last year and have a stash of about 80 diamond paintings! I’m in Australia so everything seems more expensive than the rest of the world!

I spend a lot on diamond painting and I don't have a CZcams channel! I am trying to limit myself a bit now but it is costly, especially now that we have to pay custom tax on everything in the UK (yeey Brexit!). I bought quite a bit of storage as well but I don't buy other accessories like wax, trays or pens because I'd rather spend it on diamond paintings or other things. But they look like fun gadgets to have if you enjoy them!

I started diamond painting 2 years ago…I was a little horrified when I reached Diamond level on DAC in about 6 weeks…edited to add, I love the behind the scenes videos as well as the other things you do! It’s a nice variety.

I am so loving this video. I swear I just started DP three months ago and I am into it over $1,500.. on DP , and DP accessories..I mean I went all out. I have only completed 2 DP !! I have over 20 in my stash with 15 more coming !! I feel like a crazy woman. I mean this addiction is real and I am living proof.

Now you have everything you really need or could use for diamond painting and your future investments involve pretty much just the actual diamond paintings. Well it took some courage but I watched it 😂😂😂I just won’t be showing the husband as he may never recover! It’s great to face up to totals and then move on! In a strange way you have made me feel better. It’s the only money I’ve spent this year and I do feel I’m slowing down my spending. It’s just a great hobby. I’m not sure why we feel we need 24 diamond paintings or how we ever think we’ll finish them 🤣🤣🤣. I’ve loved every bit of my new hobby. Grateful to not want the pens/ wax or cover minders. I agree... It is not a cheap hobby, but it is so enjoyable to see what you can create afterwards and rewarding in health wise to relieve stress, etc.. But, people should never judge someone else and their hobby. You do what you like and spend what you like. I am :)

Don't feel bad for doing what makes you happy. I watch a lot of unboxing and they spend way more than you do. What makes it bad is when I see a unboxing and they have something cool then I will want to get it. And sometimes I do. Shame on me. Ok and I m a diamond on dac so that says I have spent a lot also. But hey I love doing the craft. I have been doing it for 2 yrs . Thought I would burn out on it but no. So don't worry about the small stuff. Just do what makes you happy.😁

Girl, I am scared to even attempt to calculate what I have spent! Yes, we are all enablers in this DP community. Now that this hobby has become so popular, we will have even more options for legally licensed, quality diamond paintings. I have started including this in my monthly savings budget so that I can splurge guilt free when needed...wanted...lol!

I also just calculated how much I spent on diamond painting kits alone because I was talking to a friend who said I have quite an expensive hobby and I said that it's not really that expensive, and then I was way off of my estimates on how much I have spent. Now I am trying to cut back on spending on other things (hahaha!).

I've only been diamond painting since this summer so am quite a newbie but am absolutely addicted....lol
Hi Suzanne - well, at least you are already aware of the 'risks' of spending a lot on your craft. That's a win for sure LOL....The only real advice I can give about starting a channel is that I didn't realize that it's really (really) time consuming. I'm one year in and struggling to find balance...This second year I'm going to try and find it LOL...So just keep that in the back of your mind when you're setting out on your own YT adventure. Just try it, have fun, enjoy the process and do what feels good to you.

Loved the video. I think your numbers are accurate on one condition - no stash building. Once you accept the idea of owning more than one or two undone kits, the budget gets much harder to follow.

Lisette, Thank you so much. Loved this topic. Very appropriate. I spend about $80 a month on diamond painting from DAC and Dreamer Designs. Right now I have my Chuck that I am working on and just started Reverie by Ann Marie Bone. I can usually finish one big one completely and start a second one in a month. All the accessories can add up until you find a pen, wax and storage system that works for you.
I feel it is much cheaper than paying for a therapist.
Also I have something to show for my time when I finish one up.
While you are busy during tourist season, maybe share a video about a simple dessert or appetizer that your guests enjoy. American and French or European food is different as well as what we each eat for Breakfast. Also the times that we eat a meal are different and seeing the cultural differences are quite interesting.

Thanks for this video! I've been diamond painting for about 2 years or so and just let me tell you... You'll spend more, for sure!! I think most creators on CZcams don't do these videos bcuz they really don't know how much they've spent! I've never been so addicted to anything like I am for diamond painting... It's so much fun, it's relaxing, helps with my anxiety, etc... and the community is pretty awesome too! The only way I knew how much I was spending was by my credit card balances 😳😳😳. I didn't want to see them! The craft is so addictive, not only working on the kits, but my gosh, I have like 75-85 pens, over 250 diamond paintings and then there are different trays, storage systems, Fancy Sparkler and AB drills, sealing supplies (sometimes), framing, storage bins to hold the diamond paintings, coverminders, storage for diamond painting pens, washi tape and the list goes on and on and on!! It will be a challenge for you, for real, to stay within your budget, but it's still a good thing to be cognizant of an approximation of what you're spending each month, for sure!! I'm still keeping score on my spendings and keeping the budget is becoming problematic .....but it's still good to check and I'll do another video once my channel exists 1 year (in October).
1st kit was a gift, then i ordered and received 5 kits, on #2 from my order. Very addicting - for me because it's simple and repetitive.

No one ever has ever been this honest and I will tell you it was very refreshing. Good for you for facing down your spending! I’ve been painting less than 4 months and have over 40 kits in my stash-at least half are premium kits. I have two light pads because I have two WIPs on two different tables. I only have 2 budget pens from Amazon and I use the wax that comes in the kit. However!!! I buy lots of frames. I have completed 13 paintings and have framed 7. I think I have outspent you 🤦♀️I ordered 2 dreamer designs last night. I have a Josephine wall in a cart but am not ready to spend $70 on shipping. Sigh. It’s an addiction for sure. Great video!❤

I appreciated this video! I have 53, yes 53, canvasses waiting politely for me in my craft area. Most of them are 40 x 50 my favourite size but have a good number of smaller ones and two LARGE (well, for me anyway...) canvasses. I give away almost all the ones I make. Next week, I am mailing away a beautiful butterfly made with special drills as a wedding gift. I don't want to part with it but I know they will love it. Thanks so much for sharing this with us as I don't feel so "weird" about my addiction to this great craft! I haven’t totalled what I have spent in one year but probably should. I’m with you! I think it is great that you are so honest, most of us don’t want to know how much we spend. I’m now at Diamond level at DAC and soon will have 16 of them... and counting. The one company that I can’t justify is DIY moonshop as they are too expensive, although I love a few of their artists... maybe for my Birthday? Lol Would love to hear about « behind the scene of a CZcamsr! »

Its so addictive i do both diamond and painting by number ( I usually bought 5 painting. By numbers at a time. That was over 300 euros that included postage ) does add up.

Oh my wow I never really thought about how much I have spent on my hobby I have 14 diamond art club in my stash and 40 other paintings that I have gotten elsewhere plus all the other goodies I have bought in the last year and it will be a year for me next month. I love your honesty about all of this. Don't feel bad. I have spend over $2,500 cad in four months. The pens are worse than the paintings for me. They're beautiful and easy to collect. I agree CZcams craft channels just enable me to buy more which isn't great. But do we not all agree this is a pandemic year, we're all stuck at home anyway, can't travel and so diamond painting is the perfect craft to get into! We're just diverting our money somewhere else. 🤔 Ps diamond painting is less messy than paint by numbers so you made the right move!

I will buy one of your waxes from you 😊 I spent about $700 in one month at DAC and then I stopped buying. I bought one fancy wax and hate it :/ it won’t release the diamond drills. So I just finished my first DAC “Train of Dreams” and omg, I am jonsing to start another one but plan to wait until I at least get this one to the framing dept… I have about 12 unopened boxes and 1 custom one that I sent a picture in to have turned into a painting. That one is next surely. Hope to see your new videos and ask u chef questions too!

I bought a whole lot of them before I saw your videos. I have to admit, I only bought one diamond dotz cross stitch pattern. I live on SSDI and get a limited amount of money to buy the experience ones. I’ll save up for them. Lisette, I’ve been very embarrassed to write this to you. My project is a wolf that is for my grand-daughter. Her birthday is next weekend so I have to get it done.

Personally - I’ve just recently fallen down the ‘rabbit- hole’ of DAC - specifically the talents of Mr.Chuck Pinson - about $400 invested there all just in the last month......but - I reason it well - as - we don’t smoke/drink/ cannot travel away/ reduced wardrobe spending/ limited eating or taking out food....so - yes I really think for my own logic - it is justified🤣😎🥸🧐🤓 - or I tell myself that anyways! Huge thing here though really - the calming, focused positive therapeutic effect this craft has ......and well - isn’t that alone - priceless?$???
I am not a CZcams creator myself - so I really enjoy watching/learning from all of you diamond painting creators - who do take the time to make these videos for us!

I went crazy during the first 8 months. That’s why I have challenged myself to only one dp per month. So far this calendar year I’ve spent under $25 on DPs, and that’s because I had a gift card (TSA) and rewards points (DAC).

ing for Patreons please count me in...secondly, I recently moved into an Aged Care facility (mainly for health issues( and had to quickly downsize the handcraft i was doing at the time which was quilting,.,,,I took up Diamond Painting, and although I havent been able to venture into the BigTime companies e.g. DAC etc, I dont begrudge for one minute the money i am spending on the canvases AND accessories for my new "addiction"...I would (and already have..lol) spend my last dollar on doing what is so rewarding and beneficial,, I am currently working on a square drill custom pic of my family....what's not to love about Diamond Painting....

Haha There’s just so many beautiful options out there for us just to pick a couple. I first tried diamond painting on a small canvas just to see if I like it, and of course I did, now I’m addicted too! Lol Planning to put out unboxing and review videos as well. And to be honest, I think what you spent in the span of 6 months isn’t too too bad! Haha I mean I’m sure there’s like worse figures than that lol 😂 And life is short! We should enjoy our time and be happy. Especially in this crazy world that we’re living in now. Do you have any tips on starting a craft channel? Thank you! Also btw, I love Diamond Dotz and would love to get Woman in Gold one day! But it’s one of their most expensive paintings 😭 definitely have to think about it. I also like that you don’t have a whole lot of paintings but they are all quality and licensed images than having 50 from ali express if you know what I mean.

No, I think you need moren than a 1000 followers for that and a certain amount of watch hours. With a small channel I don't think monetization really helps - it certainly won't cover my spending LOL....

Wish I had a little more to spend 😝 I can only buy a new one when the one I’m working on is nearly finished. It sucks not bein able to work due to chronic illness and most of my old hobbies (like crocheting, reading, painting and more) I can’t really do anymore. Diamond painting really he,ps me not feel useless all the time, like I waste my days away (which feels that way sometimes if all I was able to do is sitting in bed watching CZcams 🙊). Having less then 200€ a month, saving for a new diamond painting can be a challenge, but makes it also special when working on it.
Hi Liesbeth - I can imagine. The most important thing is that you don't spend more than you're able and I totally agree that it's extra special when you're working on a painting you've saved up for. I'm wishing you all the best.
Love your videos. I have been at it for about 2 years & I am scared to add it up. I started on Amazon with 1, got it, started it, & then found AliExpress, & it was all over. Now I have 200 DAC kits, 300-400 from all others, including Craft-Ease, Craftibly, AliExpress, Fansells & other less expensive sites (mostly special shaped rhinestone kits), Distracted By Diamonds, & other licensed kit sites, too. I have about 15-20 handmade pens, tons of cheap & expensive storage, extra AB drills, rhinestones, & Sparklers, but only the wax that comes with kits. I also make pens, containers, and cover minders. I am in the process of making a really cool pen and accessory storage box with drawers because I saw one for over $100 and I'd rather buy diamond paintings with that money! LOL! (Mine will hold twice as much for about a third of that.) I know it sounds bad, but this hobby is my happy place, and I believe it saved my life after I lost my Mom. So I buy them not only for myself, but for those I love and I don't think we need to feel bad about it at all. There are many ways we benefit from this craft, and it is worth it, we are worth it. That's my opinion on all of this. Happy Diamond Painting!!!!

I love diamond painting as well, I completed 5 diamond paintings in 2 years… that’s not alot but I’m doing really slow and I enjoy it! I work maby 1-2 hours a day or in 2-3 days😅 I a now working on 2 paintings at the same time (soulmates and puppy’s from diamond dotz) I love this video and yes your right about the addicted thing because when I have finisched these I have more then 7 new paintings on my wish list😅🥰 maby spent a little bit less on it because It is really indeed alot of euro’s for 5 months but I think you’ll figure a way out to do that🥰

I am into DP over a year.The maximum amount of canvases I had once in my inventory was just 4 .Right now I have just one waiting.
I have 4 special pens ,some extra vax ,trays and some other things. And DAC company isn't so much my thing hahaha...I think I am a kind of a weirdo.
But if we love something, we will spend money on that ,right....nothing wrong with that.

Have 30 so far that’s not including what I’ve made about 10 3 squares 28 rounds new ones on the way soon have my first custom made pen the 3 squares are big the biggest I’ve even done the rest a 30cm-40cm is most think the ones I’m buying next is probably about 10 more rounds since they don’t have squares

I buy mine from Dreamer Designs, Hobby Lobby, and Joanns. I am going to order a few from DAC and Diamond Dotz on line stores tomorrow. Hobby Lobby has had the same designs for 6 months and I bought all the ones I am interested in. My sister no longer manages the Joanns but I also have all the ones they have too.
Diamond painting ..if you spend a lot you get quality, and youre paying the artist for their work.
I dont buy cheap crappy ones. Because the cheap glue and drills are terrible, and the artists dont get paid. Not to mention my hands are messed up and the cheap ones make them hurt from pressing too hard.
I couldn’t even tell you how much I have spent. I have about 30 finished and 15 in my stash. They range anywhere from $14.99 too $69.99. I used coupons and bought a whole bunch when they had buy one, second half price or buy two get one free, I love those sales. The 40% off coupon is nice too.
My husband buys everything for me. I tell him what I want. Or he surprises me with stuff.
He set me up with a drafting table, cart, portfolio, and all other good stuff.
All in all I must have spent at the least $2000. on paintings and stuff.
I need to start framing them I have so many finished.

There are lots of images out there that are legal but less expensive than DAC. I don't think you have to spend this much if you don't want to. But I think it is totally addictive and I'm definitely not surprised you've spent that much. I think the biggest problem is that we tend to buy them faster than we can do them!!
Yes I know - you're totally right, but I really love the quality and images of DAC. I don't mind the spending - love this hobby, It was just a bit confrontational - adding everything up LOL. And yes we buy faster than we can do them - but I must be honest - I also love the process of searching for diamond paintings and buying them...

Lol that’s veeeery addictive hobby. I’ve got my first kit then boom! A month later I had 6 kits plus a wrist sprained so badly I couldn't do anything for two months.
