Indian music is nothing like western music.
Here, lyrics and the meaning plays an important role in a song. EDM is good for jumping in club, but to be heartfelt, you need something touchy, whether it be western or indian.
Don't categorise western music as just edm. Lyrics and music also play an important role in western music too. You know you can glorify indian music without seeing another as inferior. Jist my two cents

The thing is, Bollywood has always been appreciated for its quality music, meaningful lyrics and songs that made some f*cking sense. Infact music was the only good thing in Indian Film industry tbh. And now these guyZ, with the help of T-Series, are destroying that too.
Indian lyricist used to spend months to write lyrics and present a kind of music which will get you right away. Right from the 60s to 2014-15, from Mohd. Rafi to Arijit Singh. And then comes Tony kakkar, destroys the music and for someone who has always appreciated good music, it hurts. Genuinely hurts. You have a very western perspective because you haven't come accross the Legendary Songs of bollywood yet. And that's totally fine. Your opinion. It’s so unfortunate because Tony Kakkar had some really good songs like Mile Ho Tum Humko years back and those songs weren’t as appreciated or money making as his recent songs are. He even tweeted that he’d make songs like the ones he did before but they don’t get the views or hype that these songs do and in a world where everyone is hungry for likes and views, songs like these are what’s going to get sold.
It’s a vicious cycle because people give give the views, and music lab,es force the same content on us…if they didn’t get the views, the music labels wouldn’t green light these songs. Same with the remix trend :/

Let me explain what autotune is actually used for. We know current music is more Electronic and Robotic, means we see some flute and other instruments which were used to play live or with mouth, but now these things are all on a Digital Audio Station. Every thing processed on softwares now. Now the point is, being everything so electronic, every single note of a flue or any other instrument hits the perfect sounding pitch and tone. And human voice has a tendency to sound good but not perfect, even Arijit... Because if we humans sang everything on perfect pitch we would sound like robots. Then when Autotune comes into play, autotune is used to stack things together like beat and vocal to fit the perfect sounding instrumental and vocal together. And you must be thinking Arijit don't use autotune while he sings in studio, obviously they use, there are bunch of softwares, one would make you sound like robot and other would make you sound more human. And yeah i am not saying Arijit is bad! He is way more good singer and has a good control on his voice. But to get a perfect sounding song, pitch correction and extra processing is necessary anyway.✌️

I agree to what Jaby said about the tune of these songs. Even I find the composition of these songs groovy. But in India, lyrics play an equally important role in music like its other elements. That's why people troll his songs. Because such poorly written songs are becoming hits, some people fear that after the generation of eminent lyricists passes, there won't be a place for good lyricists - which is not true but that feeling is understandable.
