    On this channel we test and review ebikes and accessories. Its our goal to help you find the perfect ebike. When we review an electric bike, we don't simply ride it once and make a video, we ride it for 50-100 miles to get familiar with all it has to offer, then we make a video. But we don't stop there, we will make follow up videos as we continue to ride.

    It would be nice if these things came with "highway pegs". As a person with mobility issues, I would mainly use it electronically, using the pedals only for somewhere to put my feet. The problem is the position one is in with just the pedals. Don has the Lectric Etrike and I found it very uncomfortable for my feet/legs using just the pedals to rest my feet on. ~Joyce

    E310 width
    I really appreciate your comments and frequent updates.
    I am puzzled by Admotor's decision to limit the width of the E310 to 26", especially with the enhanced power and speed.
    I just watched a side-by-side comparison of the RAD and the Lectric trike. The reviewer noted more stability in the RAD (33"w) vs the Lectric (30.5"w). The E310 will be 7" inches narrower than the RAD. I fear that the E310 will be much more vulnerable to tipping.
    Thoughts?

    • @EbikeReviews
      @EbikeReviews  Před 11 měsíci

      I share your concern, I hope its not a bust since we just ordered one. Being more narrow is better for getting thru doorways, so for people in apartments it would be great. But are they sacrificing safety? Possibly. Thanks for the comments and support.

While I am still shopping it appears the 310 has more going for it even though cost $500 more. In addition, I will need to purchase the front and rear baskets for another $150. Question, have you found any aftermarket baskets that would fit these trikes? Being able to fold these trikes and fit into my SUV is a big concern for me.

    • @EbikeReviews
      @EbikeReviews  Před 8 měsíci

      First, after market baskets are hard to find. There seems to be no standard in bolt patterns. I suggest contacting addmotor and just ask if they will include them. Someone else told me they asked and got them for free. As for hauling in the SUV, although it folds, its not easy to lift. I suggest a hitch carrier.

    I think maybe I might do it if I have to return my Lectrictrike XP. I like my new trike, but right now it's not able to move because the back wheels are stuck with the fender being squished. I am going to have to take it to a bike shop to get professionals to work on it because my husband doesn't want to mess with it and possibly break it and I am even less mechanically inclined than he is.
    However, what concerns me about this trike you are looking at is the rider weight limit. For myself, I am sitting at 289 lbs and the xP has a higher rider weight limit than the one you are looking at. I want my trike to be able to support my weight as I use it to try to shift some of it. I want to be able to ride with my kids, but my balance issues make me too unsafe on a bicycle. I also need to be able to use it for mobility because I can't drive a car and it's hard to get anywhere independently without something like this to help me.

    • @EbikeReviews
      @EbikeReviews  Před 11 měsíci

      Sounds like the XP might be the better options. Its terrible that a new trike has to be fixed. But I'm hoping once we get pas this that it will be a great trike. My wife liked it a lot the one time she was able to ride it before it broke.

      The fenders are made of a relatively soft material that is easy to adjust. By applying slight pressure (wear protective gloves), you can manipulate the position of the fenders. Don't do it all at once. Adjust it a little bit at a time and repeat until you have them in place.

    • @neshobe

  • @charleslloyd4253
    @charleslloyd4253 Před 9 měsíci +1

    The main difference in the two is motor, battery, weigh and width. Both bikes will lock up when trying to push backwards. Making them difficult to get out of bike racks, sore them in a closet or corner. without tilting the off of one rear wheel so it will roll. Especially with the Addmotor weighing ten pounds more than the Lectric. And the Lectrc will barely fit through a standard 32 inch interior door. And the Add motor will not. So if you do not have a garage. You store the bike in the living room or outside with a cover. And do you really want to spend $500 for a bike that goes 20 mph over 14 mph. On a bike that the faster you go. The easier it s to be dragging your face on the tarmac.

    • @EbikeReviews
      @EbikeReviews  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Well Charles, your wrong on several issues. I back up the Lectric XP trike with no problem. The Lectric is just a little wider than the e-310 so not sure why you think the E-310 wont fit thru the same door. The speed you have correct, but for those that want to go faster they have that option with the e-310. The e-310 also has a lot more power to get up hills, 90nm of torque verses 65nm. It has brand name components over Lectric or no name brand. It has suspension front forks. It has three disk brakes instead of two. It comes in three sizes and more color options. As soon I get mine, I'll speak to the overall build quality and the packaging which has left far too many Lectric customers with damaged trikes.

    Thanks again for your review. I am thinking about purchasing an Etrike. As with your wife, I am willing to spend what it takes to get a good product that is satisfying. I was looking at the Emojo Bison Pro. It has most of the things that I was wanting except for the torque as you pointed out. This CityTri 310 in the PLUS size seems to be better. It does not have the hydraulic brakes but has the triple mechanical disc brakes. it has the 750 Watt, foldable, front suspension. Do you recommend the CityTri or the Bison Pro? Are the mechanical brakes harder than the hydraulic brakes? As the only difference, are the brakes the game changer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    • @EbikeReviews
      @EbikeReviews  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Thanks for the great question. I am selling my Bison Pro. Although its a good trike, its very large. Once my wife tested the Lectric XP, we realized the 500w motor is very powerful, the front suspension isn't a problem until we have to leave the hard surface, and over all despite the issues we had with shipping damages, we both like riding it. As for the E-310, we don't have it yet. Based on the specs, its better than the Lectric XP, even with mechanical brakes. We like that is a smaller size. Ad for the E-310 and mechanical brakes, you shouldn't notice any difference in stopping power. Hydraulic is a little better and also easier to maintain. If its an issue, you can buy hydraulic calipers that replace the mechanical ones. It used the same brake lever, still has a cable running to it, but the caliper is hydraulic. Amazon sells them for about $50. I have high hopes for the E-310.

      @EbikeReviews  Před 7 měsíci

      I don't believe it would be a problem. Many ebikes come without a chain guard. As long as they have a guard around the front chain ring, that will protect anything from getting pinched there. The rear sprocket is far enough back that its not a problem either. On rare occasions my leg will run against a chain and the worst that happens is I get a little chain lube on it. But very little risk of getting pant legs snagged.

      Not much of a comparison. The only thing I like about the Liberty Trike is that it has a reverse like the RAD Power Bike Trike. Liberty has small tires, the motor is 750w but don't let that fool you, it only has 60nm of torque. Torque is the power to get thru grass or up a hill. The rear brakes are "coaster" style which is like a traditional bike that you have to press backward on the pedal to stop. It only goes 12mph, the range is only 8-20 miles, they do not say what the battery size is but my guess is 10ah. I stopped looking after that, hope that was helpful.

    The advantages of the bigger motor and battery will be somewhat minimized due to the increased weight of the trike. Also, I think the height restriction is legitimate because of the design of the trike. There actually is a simple difference between the Addmotor and Lectric trike that is clearly visible in the side-by-side photos you posted those likely accounts for this. Time will tell. If it is correct, which I hope it is not, this will definitely limit sales somewhat.
    Not everyone will be thrilled with the large size. Because of where I live with very limited space, I would not be able to use the Addmotor trike.
    By the way, the Lectric's claimed range is correct/accurate as per the information on their website. 60 miles is achievable. Not sure why you feel the Addmotor's range will be half of their claimed range. It may not be spot on but half? Since there are so many considerations when it comes to range, it is difficult to get accuracy.

    • @EbikeReviews
      @EbikeReviews  Před 11 měsíci

      I agree weight can be a factor, but in this case I think it will have a very minimal affect. I have been thinking about the height restrictions and it could be because the E310 is a few inches more narrow. So they are trying to prevent tipping issues. Not sure why they would go so narrow. As for mileage, I have not been able to range test the XP because its been broke. I have heard that their posted range is more accurate. Most brands publish the very best laboratory results. So realistically how most people ride with real riding conditions its just generally accepted to cut the advertised range in half to get a better idea what to expect. Of course, I have encourage people to do their own range test so they know the capability of the ebike based on how and where they ride.

      I am looking forward to your full reviews of both and always enjoy all your reviews!
      I believe the AddMotor is a few inches wider than the Lectic. All these types of trikes are not necessarily stable on turns and care needs to be used when turning at all times with all trikes.
      As far as driving range, I agree with your premise, yet I do get mileage ranges consistent with Lectric's stated figures with my trike. I do live in South Florida in a relatively flat area with minimal inclines. And few stops. So, the AddMotor would likely do well too in my area as well. So, if 45 miles is realistic, it is certainly ample for most. Time will tell. Perhaps you can let us know. Many factors contribute to an ebike's or trike's range obviously. Cutting the claimed ranges in half is probably a good and 'safe' way to estimate realistic range for most. I doubt that most people using trikes like these will be out on long excursions lasting several hours at a time, so it is likely a non-issue anyway. Whether you get 30 or 50 miles of range is not a concern for those who only ride 10-20 miles on a typical outing. Based on comments I see from Lectric riders on FB, many ride 5-10 miles on typical trips. Personally, I ride about 10-15 per trip.
      |
      I believe the reason for the height restriction is because of the position of the pedals. It seems to be farther to the rear than one would expect. Especially considering the AddMotor trike is about 7 inches longer than the Lectric XP. Just an observation from the image you posted of the two trikes side by side.

      I can understand tire size making a difference in minimum height recommendations but if the frame is the same it does make sense to me that bigger wheels could possibly make a difference in maximum height. It just means a taller rider doesn't have as far to go before their butt hits the seat with bigger tires. Once seated and riding frame geometry is the only thing making a difference for various size riders. I initially thought perhaps it had something to do with center of gravity since it's so narrow but then I thought taller tires and a taller rider will compound any problem with being top heavy. I plan to buy a trike next year and so far Lectric has been the only one I keep coming back to but this one might actually give me something to think about with the plus size option now. I'm looking forward to reviews. Thanks for the video.

    Just discovered your post about the Addmotor E-310 Plus and have subscribed. I've spent the last several days reading/viewing everything I can find about e-trikes to see if I want to sell my car and transition. I live in Houston, which is flat, and would be using the trike for all transportation -- generally less than 10 miles distance; always on pavement (that can still be rough). Your review of the Addmotor E-310 addressed all the questions I have about preferred brakes, motor power; although not so much about whether fat tires would be a good idea even if no off-road use. Tippiness is concerning. And of course budget is an issue -- prefer under $2,500. Do you have any additional thoughts? Thanks for the good you're doing with this information.

    • @EbikeReviews
      @EbikeReviews  Před 8 měsíci

      I am working on a full review. I like the e-310 a lot for many reasons. Good quality build, strong motor, larger battery than most for more distance. its a little tippy, but once you ride in a little while you get familiar with what you can do and what you shouldn't. I don't have any concerns about tipping over, although accidents happen so its always a possibility. Lectric XP is a little more stable, but, the lower speed, shipping problems, smaller battery, less power, just isn't worth the $500 savings. The E-310 is probably the way to go in my opinion.

      That's exactly why your reviews are among the first I view. They are not promotions (as many so-called reviews are). They are honest opinions based on what you know and experience, and you give the reasons why, so I can determine for myself if it's important to me. If you change your mind about something, you say so and tell why. I like that you give consideration to the fact that different people have different needs, and that you take that into consideration during your reviews and test rides. I feel that by the time I buy my e-trike, I'll have a good sense of how well suited that bike is for my needs and my purposes. (I just kind of wish you had a hill to test on, cause in Vermont, hills are a given, and one reason I am buying an e-bike is so I can get out of my little village and into the countryside!) @@EbikeReviews

      @@neshobe Thank you again for all the support. I appreciate your feedback. Here's what's most important for hills. Your looking for the Torque rating. A Torque rating of 80nm is about the average. For hills, you would want 90nm or higher. In my Bison pro video I showed how it would not go up my driveway of 3% because the torque was only 65nm. After upgrading the controller, it had 80nm. It went up the driveway. But 80nm is still not enough for steep hils. That is why I suggest you look for 90nm or more.
