Good to see the all cricketing legends of India & Pakistan in Dubai in the traditional dress of Seikh.
I have a suggestion that the ICC should introduce a franchise/club world cup in cricket like the FIFA club world cup. There was a similar league in cricket, which was CLT20. I think having T20 WC every 2 years will decrease its reputation and value. A WC-like event should be played once every 4 years, so both players and fans will wait for it. The same is true for WTC, where instead of a 2 year cycle, it should be a 4 year cycle, so they will get the same value as ODI WC. As we have to commercialize and expand cricket all over the world, we should just play Test series for the WTC and 10 ODI matches in a year and no T20 matches (if required) before the World Cup. The franchise system should end and the club system should be implemented in the upcoming years. I know that everything cannot be done in one night; it requires time over years.
I suggest a new cycle for cricket every 4 years, and it should be followed in a loop:
1. ODI World Cup
2. CLUB World Cup (in place of Champions Trophy, why two mega events of the same format? CLUB WC is T20, but it is not country-based.)
3. World Test Championship/Test WC
4. T20 World Cup
Note:
1. This creates excitement by creating a 4-year gap for T20 WC and WTC, so they will be valued nearly as much as ODI WC.
2. The Champions Trophy is scrapped because the ODI World Cup is already there; now you'll say the Club World Cup is also T20, but it is not between countries; it will create a new type of passion and excitement like football.
I also suggest manipulation in the International Cricket FTP:
1. A country should only play 3 T20Is per year, not more than that, and that should not be a series; all 3 should be with different teams.
2. A country should only play 9 ODIs per year (3 series per year with 3 different teams).
3. As test series have their own legacy, like BGT (IndvAus), Ashes (AusvEng), Pataudi (IndvEng), Freedom Series (IndvSA), Warne-Murli Series (AusvSL), etc., each team should play all other teams of WTC once in a 4-year WTC cycle, so the wait for legendary series is also increased, which creates their value, and every series should hold the same number . of matches. It can be like a team has to compete with 8 other teams in a 4-year cycle, so 2 series or year series should either have 4 or 5 matches; it should be decided and fixed, so if 2 series of 5 matches, then 10 matches = 50 days of test cricket for a country in a year.
4. As all players are not selected for WC teams in a WC year, WC warmup matches should be between the country and the franchise of that country, so the players who are not selected also get exposure. For example, if Australia plays vs. Chennai Super Kings in the warmup match of the T20 World Cup 2026, we will also get to see young talent and players who retired from international but are playing IPL, and teams also don't get an idea about the weaknesses or strengths of other teams in the warmup game before the main game.
5. If a team is on a Test Series tour in another country, then they should play 2-3 warmups against different state teams. For example, England is playing a Test warmup game against MP, UP, TN, Kerela, etc. These are my views; I also have more to share. Your opinion may differ or be completely opposite.
