  • Another attempt by Jung to interpret late events in light of his psychological theory, particularly the idea that we all have a "shadow." And yeah, that cute sound is the cat, and that weird sound is my dog.

Jung had a profound understanding of the dangers of inferiority complexes and the susceptibility of the human psyche for a mass psychosis while in this state. I personally believe we are witnessing a perfect storm similar to the political climate during the second world war and directly leading up to it. It seems the populous is just waiting for its leader.

No-one will think for themselves. There are questions No-one dares ask...Why? A child has the sense to ask the obvious. I can't see for everyone, and CZcams won't let me tell what I see. It's all clear and right in front of your faces. I feel like I'm sitting at the death bed of the West...It's dying, being killed, and it doesn't have the sense to just stand up, and get out of bed to save its self....Yet im the bad guy for suggesting it. Trust your instincts no matter who or how many say otherwise. YOUR instincts, not the ideas of others, that you have subconsciously adopted as truth. Carl Jung is no better than well think of the most despicable media person, right or left, that you know. It pains me to say that because think he makes sense. However, he's not being honest. He's just reading the script he has to read.

Jung can describe _projection_ as part of political psychology, but he never adresses actual _conflict of interest_ as in regard to the revision of the Versailles Treaty system or the international role of a unified German nationstate (dominating the European continent by geography and industrialization up to this day).
His concept of Swiss democracy with it's major plebiscites appears to be quite _idealized_ as well (up to the 1970s women didn't had to bother themselves with the 'civil war' of policies), once _illegal immigration_ hits not just the liberal urban centres, but also the conservative countryside the humanistic consensus of the Republic will shift to the Right - that is the _primordial drive_ of nationalism that occupies the 'blind spot' whenever civilizations have burned up their meagre supplies of spirituality (he certainly had a point there, but never tried himself to reform the Church either as others did, e.g. Hans-Urs v. Balthasar who helped to popularize *patristic thought* , thereby preventing to make 'discoveries' like 'archetypes' himself).

"You don't believe Nazism to have been a mass psychosis, then?"
One can characterize European fascism as a movement that carricaturized sound statecraft due to it's _demogogic_ rhetorics, adressed to wishful thinking.
But there's a _structural_ reason why the movement gained substantial momentum at the end of the 'War to end all wars'.
To dehumanize one's political opponent as _insane_ is always convenient.
Odd that the *_'revolt against modernity'_* is such a persistent 'clinical symptom', against which no remedy seems to show effects...

Jung was a psychologist and looks at fascism through a psychological lens, something which is rarely observed. It's far more common to see it described as political/ social movement. But that does not explain its psychological tendencies such as the aggressive need for a scapegoat to project all of one's failures on to (Jews). Sure, some of this may be down to political persuasion and coercion and propaganda, but it does not explain the rage-like tendency to go after one's opponent and determination to exterminate them from the face of the earth.
"To dehumanize one's political opponent as insane is always convenient".
To assume that insanity is to dehumanize is to fail to see the human being at all.. Jung, for example, had to treat his schizophrenic patients in secret because they were considered un-treatable.
I think if you read him more, you will find that he does explain the change in the German psychological make up and how the war forced a collective German consciousness from their possession back into sobriety.

"Jung was a psychologist and looks at fascism through a psychological lens (...)"
And that is why his theories shouldn't be taken as scientific insights into politics.
"But that does not explain its psychological tendencies such as the aggressive need for a scapegoat (...)"
It does - as 'scapegoating' is the oldest form of demagoguery - which is why the Jews introduced the religious practice of sending a goat into the desert, _symbolically_ burdened with the sins and curses of a community, in the first place.
"the rage-like tendency to go after one's opponent and determination to exterminate them (...)"
That is the _normal_ state of secular culture as proven by the English and French Revolution with it's proscriptions and propaganda.
It is religious practice that eases that natural drive, enabling men to coexist and 'to love another'.
It is no coincidence that Christianity gained momentum at the decline of the Roman Empire - with provincial ethnicities and cults striving for dominance and civil war.
"To assume that insanity is to dehumanize is to fail to see the human being at all (...)"
That statement doesn't make sense as it would force You to look for rational incentives within European fascism - which You reject.
"I think if you read him more (...)"
That is always the worst argument in a debate as it makes Your point appear so complicated that only a priestly caste of orthodox specialists can have an opinion on the matter.
Politics is always _easy_ to grasp, because it is about common, mundane *interests* .
One doesn't need Freudian psychoanalytics in order to comprehend *_Caesarian delusion_* .
