I wouldn't mind Alan being the face of this channel. Easy to listen to and great attitude. He's a guy you would definitely hang out with

I’ve been running with the Salomon Adv Skin 12 for a few year now and one of the things I learned is that the thin bungee style sternum strap eventually gets worn down from constantly buckling and unbuckling it over the years and has broken in places and become worn down and comes loose on its own now due to it’s thinning size where it slides into the clasps. I wasn’t even able to find a replacement sternum strap since Salomon and all the running online shops are sold out. That’s really my only complaint for the pack though. I decided to go with the Ultimate Direction Ulra vest 6 for it’s more durable sternum strap

I love REI youtube channel...you guys have alot of great info , and tons of fun bloopers in your posted videos....Great Humor Alan !!
I never used a *Running vest* before ...
In the search & rescue ops ,we were handed out , SAR Equipment vests...and I've seen alot more people recently, using Equipment Vests for a day pack hike, EDC & bugging out (emergency evac'ing) from SHTF in their areas.
This is a good piece of gear to have.
Some points I have to comment on are :
    1) are these made with Ripstop materials ?
    2) 3:48 ...Personally I got rid of all my elastic Shock cord on all of my equipment vest and day packs, and replaced it with 550 P-cord and cord lock buckles....never had an issue with gear tie downs , or overstretched worn out Shock cords ever again.
those are called *Elastic Shock Cords / *Stretch bungee cords / elastic compression cords....it is advisable to buy xtra backup Shock cord , cause those will get snagged, and wear out fast , in extreme weather conditons and from use. *(2 is 1 ... 1 is none...3 is good barter item on the trail)*

Good review, though it would be very helpful if REI did a review of running vests for well endowed women? It is very difficult to find well fitting vests for us.

It would be more comfortable if you had you wind pants and wind jacket loose and just stuffed in there. It would also be less bouncing

@@rei Thanks, I'm actually a kayaker 🛶 wishing there was an equivalent for my sport as the Type V vest's offer very little in terms of storage... Enjoyed your presentation.

Love the talented people REI has chosen for this channel, but sadly am unsubscribing. Posting this cuz I know the staff reviews comments regularly, this is not directed at talent But none of your awesome videos, including those touching on justice & representation, balance out anti-union activity or an insistence that your entry level staff do not deserve a living wage. This just highlights that a co-op is NOT necessarily a progressive business structure and often simply becomes only a marketing tool. Hope the talent stands up for their colleagues working the floor, but regardless, I must say goodbye as a viewer and as a customer (bummer, too, I just discovered the in-house line & love the affordable cold weather gear) until you do right. If your business model relies on paying your sales force under a living wage, it is essentially requiring the entry level workers to work 60+ hrs/week to achieve minimum living standards; there's no way to claim that is progressive. And doesn't look like your labor market is willing to bear that cost of retail any more - ethics aside, smarten up please! (REI, again I have nothing against this host; I chose this video to comment because it was recent & I felt bad commenting like this on Miranda's last vid, the series I watched, since the other comments are mostly a celebration of Nala's life.)
