Goodness, I've never seen a puyo player surviving Wumbo's blasts of back to back to back T-spins; and to even able to fight back is truly a rare sight.
No but at one point he stalled to give the other due a chance so he would have won.
@@zxlrgaming8633 actually, you're wrong there, he stalled because garbage isn't sent until all combos after the current drop id completed. if he went right away, the other would have just swept the garbage aside and he'd be in a worse position then before.

@@reyemir2000 What actually is happening is that wumbo is stalling (so that he can tank garbage and send more), and puyo also tried to stall in return, but ofc tetris is better at stalling than puyo
The tetris side looks like a damn warzone while the puyo puyo side is chill and relaxed the entire time.

puyo puyo is a warzone inside players mind, thinking fast to make a chain gave me such a headache... never going to play puyo again
In my eyes the Puyo side looked like it was struggling to survive against all the garbage coming down that's cancelling all those nicely stacked combos. It looks much easier clearing the garbage on the tetris side.

I really like how the puyo player controls the field, stacking up that one side immediately to reduce the junk pieces they have to deal with
I love how after the first round, you can see the sweat coming from wumbo as he is just done with the puyo player.

@@SuGerMarLo but, isn't tetris spam-ish as well? If you are skilled enough you will be spamming t-spins like crazy, i think it's fair enough. But even like that, tetris spam usually beats puyo's
@@jestfullgremblim8002 I get your point but by spam puyos I mean litterally just stacking them as high as you can on the sides and hope for a good chain. Normally this is good against NPCs but it's a d*ck move against real players.

This guy is clearly decent for not saying incredible. if you have some puyo experience you'll know that it's not easy to do that and actually chain like that (he doesn't put then ramdomly, every puyo serves for something). this isn't spam-ish because of RNG, so if said RNG is not favorable you will need more pieces to use this technique, so the tetris player would harrass you to hell XD

Yeah and a tournament where they introduce a rival that use the legendary hypertapping technique that only elites can use. And several seasons later the mc was a descendants of some sort of god of tetris that use the long lost rolling technique and once save the world using that technique

I will still say the Puyo Puyo side is much harder to master, typically giving the Tetris players an advantage since it's much easier to figure out. And also, Puyo Puyo still overall remaining popular in one specific region, well Tetris is loved worldwide. With this additional research, Tetris strats are constantly afloat for these players.
Even though I am hot garbage at it, I would love to get better at the Puyo Puyo side over Tetris because I enjoy the more leisure nature of its gameplay better and enjoy plotting where they go more than worrying about a single flinch ruining an entire combo as it can in Tetris.
Only thing I can really say about that is keep practicing and play the old puyo puyo games more than anything

Puyo Puyo Tsu is a semi balance to start off with
Puyo Sun will help you to deal with intense harassment
And Puyo Pop Fever will help you to deal with quick chaining and big chaining, but puyo pop fever does have a different ruleset
Keep practicing and the rest comes naturally, the one thing to keep in mind is that the puyo fall, so you want them set up in a way where when they fall they pair up in another set of atleast four puyo, and so on, practice practice practice and you will develope your own play style as puyo puyo doesn't really have a set way to play the game

I swear. Tetris gamers like you are like wizards when it comes to comboing. From double tetris, t spins even doubles, and 4 wide combos. You guys know how to turn from one combo to something entirely different
I couldn't fight Wumbo with puyo if I wanted to.
Why you may ask?
Because if I get hit with garbage it will land in the most IMPORTANT SPOTS UNTIL I TOP OUT.(I hate luck)

It makes sense that Tetris would have a harder time against Puyo this time, as Tetris was slowed down compared to PPT1.

at exactly one minute in I would have wanted to see a super tspin double. I always find it interesting the ways wumbo preps tetrises instead.
The combo at 2:30 is an example of something that I see more from wumbo that I wish other players did too
This just reminds me that I need to learn how T-Spins work before going back online, because I always get wrecked by people who T-Spin.

@HowToTech I understand the basic principle behind them, but struggle at putting it into practise. Most I’ve ever managed is a mini t-spin when under pressure.

@@Dylan_900 I wish I could agree with that, I find Puyo way harder. Especially the way the junk blocks work, blocking combos, whereas in Tetris, getting junk can often HELP in getting Tetrises.

Yeah, I mean, I've played a bit of Tetris over the years, and I've only just now just become learned in the ways of spinning pieces and using t spins to dole out some serious hurt, but t spin triples were quite a wall for me to first accomplish, and even so I've only pulled one of in a match against another player (not ppt) but I took a look at how puyo puyo works (using an online trainer thing) and I was easily able to throw out 3 and 4 chains, despite literally NEVER having played it or learned much about it. It makes me feel that the scales of power are seriously off-balance.

Definitely not true, Tetris players don't have to do much to take away a Puyo player's ability to play the game since Puyo has to deal with garbage fall every two seconds it makes it practically impossible to move.
Sure, a 5 chain or higher will destroy a Tetris player, but in what universe would a Tetris player let you build that much?

PPT1 is balanced for casual players, who know how to play their game of choice decently well, but not tournament level.
