    As a black trans man male privilege is too real . I had to get a mri done on my neck . And it required me to open my mouth alittle . One of the male nurses who was assisting me said women don’t have a problem keeping their mouths open. I was shocked because if i didn’t transition he wouldn’t have said that but since he saw me a black man he felt comfortable. Even though now I dont get harassed like i did before , I am aware and cautious of how I talk to woman because I don’t want to make them feel uncomfortable .

    Bro facts...I wish I knew about all the social changes with being a man, a black man at that. Women def react differently and I have to be careful of how friendly I am to not come off as flirty or a creep. I have one small opposite problem of you, I'm on the shorter side which never really came up before beginning my transition. Im about 5'6'' which was normal height as a female. I refuse to let it hold me back though I'd rather be a short happy man than an average height sad woman any day.

    I’ve been on t shots for two or almost three months. There are some weird changes I didn’t expect. Like being really itchy and really hungry also your feelings for people change, also get hair everywhere on your body and sweaty. My voice changes gets deeper, cracks, and throat hurts. How people see me even changes

    • @audpicc
      @audpicc Před 2 lety +4

      I'm like 6wks on T now and my voice has noticeably changed. People who haven't heard me in a long time notice right away, but I'm also finding that people who hear me every few weeks just think I'm in a bad mood? And it's like bro, I'm not mad at you, I'm just trying to keep my voice from cracking 😅

    I'm almost 1.5 years into my transition. Lucky, I haven't experienced too much of woman feelings like I'm hitting on them. I think its bc I'm a short guy around 5'3. The little guys tend to be perceived as less intimidating especially if you're polite like me and well dressed.

    Idk if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the phantom cramps are generally due to atrophy of the uterus bc it is a muscle and it is not doin' its thing anymore. I've done a bit of reading about it and it is one of the main reasons trans men get hysterectomies, among other reasons. But if you're healthy, you don't need to rush to get that procedure done.
    One small thing I did Not expect while being on T was that my eyelashes got longer. I remember girls in high school being jealous of their boyfriends' eyelashes and now, I genuinely think that T causes more growth from those follicles. I also experienced muscle cramps more often on T. I'd never had a charley horse until being on T! Hurts like a mf. They've died down for the most part, but yeesh, I don't stretch certain ways anymore bc of that.

    • @DevonSpears

    Well one thing about transitioning is when I pack publicly I feel as though everyone is staring at my d*ck 👀 and it kinda makes me uncomfortable but then I just tell myself that if it’s guys looking they tryna compare or if it’s girls they just checking me out… 🤷🏽 also noticed the girls being weird when I’m not trying to “holler” at them but then realizing that I’m 5’10 as well and now weight lifting 🏋️‍♂️ has me being perceived as a dude now so I gotta be aware of that… but also feel like I’m experiencing male “ heat “ when I’m like “ ahh “ I gotta hunt down some poontang to get rid of this “boner” so yeah that been my experience about a year off and on T ☝🏼💪🏽👌

    As a young trans person who hasnt started hormones yet, i still am perceived as a guy unless i mention im trans ofc. And the stuff about the general public and socialising is so true, i go to a small town for school (i live in a big city tho) and before i looked more masculine walking by people on the street ppl wouls smile and say hi or good morning. But now that i look like a guy people are far more distant and when i smile or try to be nice its just met with rude stares. I also get up quite early to have a walk around the parks before i go to sch to wake up a bit and relax to prepare for sch and when women walk past me they cross the street and are scared . I completely understand why and its just sad but i always make sure to have a smile on my face either way abd say hello anyway so ppl know im not a threat and just wanna spread genuine positivity. Cant tell you the amount of times in the past someone who smiled and said hi walking by actually improved my day. Small things like that are just nice ❤

    • @ReetCZ108

      From my experience so far (3yrs openly trans) i think teenage girls are percived as pure and nice were as teenage guys often are believed to be mischievous and rude which isnt always true so it has opened my eyes to a lot of this cis guys go through and i think the fact that im still a teenager it is very helpful for me growing up (i love being trans and its made me happy and made me feel like my true self so i plan to stay like this in my future and these videos really help show the real side of being trans and educating the right way bc many places on the internt just make it seem like dress up which its not its a commitment).

    the reproductive bits are just having a drama queen reaction to being on T. funny enough the eggs are actually hibernating or on "power reserve mode" because high T and low E are not optimal conditions. So far they haven't proven that any reproductive damage occurs as a result of this egg hibernation.

    • @DevonSpears
      @DevonSpears  Před 2 lety +3

      What’s good bro! I get what you’re saying but also I personally and most people who are overlooked by an endo like yourself don’t have low E. Just want to make that clear to prevent any misconceptions. It’s actually quite the opposite; if your test is high and you don’t take anti-aromatization compounds your Estrogen will also naturally elevate.

    One last thing...I think a lot of us were blind to the privilege that we had before transitioning. All imma say is that life as a woman is life on easy mode. An uncomfortable truth is that men have to create their value and grind constantly, that is true for women today, but to a lesser degree.

    • @DevonSpears
      @DevonSpears  Před 2 lety +18

      I think that depends on your place in life. I disagree personally I find being a man wayyyy easier in terms of professional life, the way peers treat me, and the way random strangers throughout the day treat me with a significantly higher level of respect that I never experienced as a masculine female. Sure you have to be a producer and a breadwinner for most women to be a candidate for a relationship, but 9/10 you don’t have to worry about getting r*ped on the way to your car so I’d say the privilege we have far outweighs that of a woman.

    • @Beowulf002
      @Beowulf002 Před 2 lety

      @@DevonSpears I respect where you’re coming from, it’s true. To a lesser degree I have experienced that, but because I’ve worked around the same people during my transition I didn’t notice an uptick in respect until I made my correct pronouns non-negotiable. but even then, it wasn’t until people saw me transform from fat into “fit” that I felt genuine respect from those around me.
      It taught me to distinguish a base line for respect (human to human) and then the respect you earn from self improving.
      You’re right about that safety thing as well I guess it’s true when they say ppl are blind to the privilege they have 😅
