May we all look that good at 93. An amazing lady.
Ya got THAT right!
REALLY! I thought at first maybe that was her younger sister or something that somehow figured in there and they were going to show the old lady in a minute or too. Wow! Just fantastic for 93.
These old folks (the greatest generation) were much more critical to the operation of a functioning world than we realized. As Prof. Haidt has said they didn't agree with everyone but they got along with everyone. Today disagreements cause many to cut off all contact. The dirty secret is it was the greatest generation that was the most tolerant.
Her hair hasn't even turned gray. It is indeed amazing!
Geez! Who did the restoration on the 93 years old lady? She's amazing!
Maybe she didn't want it for some reason, but I'm with you... I thought he would give it to her.
Why would he in this case? She's 93. She's already gotten rid of it once, for one. I'm guessing she no longer drives, for another. It would then just sit there the same way it had been before, slowly rotting away from disuse and lack of maintenance. She may look good for her age, but I can't see her out there greasing up some old axles. ;)
ikr
*"'She may look good for her age, but I can't see her out there greasing up some old axles. ;)"* Hah! What a GILF! She can "grease my axle" anytime... ;-P
bwhahaha
Jay Leno is a true American: preserving history for future generations.
Amen.
Jay, you're a gem. Great gesture to let the former elderly owner go for a ride and to keep a piece of American history intact and working. One of the best features yet.
Wow, the genes on those people, Jay said in another video that the sons were in their 70s, but could pass for mid 50s. The Mother lived to be 102, at 93 she looks amazing. Really cool story
...70s? I would've guessed them to be in their 50s at the most o.O
Is it just me, or I am left alone in my thaugts about Jay Leno actually seems like a good and genuine person.
He is
kim hafslag I’m sure Mr Leno is a good human being
Exactly! The kind of guy you could "have a beer with."
I know Jay , and for sure hes a great guy, very generous, nice guy
He is,But only NBC was the devil in his old career.
I watch this video every couple days to remind myself why I love cars so much. Beyond materialism, the most memorable experiences some people have are in their cars. Jay Leno, you da man.
You're kidding! 93? She's gorgeous!.
Ah, Jay should have kept it green. It was a great looking color for that car.
sloperdude
Agreed, I was disappointed to see that he showed her a cream car instead of the same green she had been looking at for 60 years.
the old lady doesn't look 93, shes aged as well as the hornet,
I would have put her late 70's...
2019. Now 99. I hope she's still kickin'.
She reminds me of Nancy Pelosi who is 80.
"Here comes the green Hornet!" That's great stuff.
Best looking 93 year old I've ever seen that's for sure.
Thank you, Jay, for keeping a piece of American history alive.
+Jimmie S the car or the woman ?
+laserduck ha burn
Such a cool story. I'd love to see more videos like this one!
Heartwarming. Well done, Jay.
These stories, Jay, are priceless. I know you know that, or you wouldn't be buying all these cars. I love that you have this passion that so many of us have, and the stories that go along with them. And yes, NO way that previous owner is 93. No way.
That Hornet really takes me back aways. My uncle bought a 1951 Hornet new. It was brown, had fog lights, and a police type spot light on the driver's door. The spotlight was appropriate since he was a Sgt with the Laguna Beach PD. I remember the rope thing on the back of the front seat that they hung a lap blanket from. It is interesting someone mentioned racing because the Hornet was very competitive on the stock car circuit. The lady is a real sweetheart.
Love the profile of this car. The design is just perfect. Other cars of this era (Chevys, Fords etc) needed to be chopped to look this good!
93? Jaysus! she loos like she will live to 193.
+Sim o she didn't she died at the beginning of 2015
+Ryan Arvin that makes me sad..
+Ryan Arvin how did you find out?
+raccoon681 Jay couldn't stay inside the lines
I dont know if these responses get all the way to you or not, Jay, but on the chance this reaches your eyes, thank for caring about her as much as the car. You have class. God bless.
When I was a kid we had a Hudson, that was in 1955. In 1960 we got a Packard. So I just love to see these cars...... That lady looks like she is in her 70's at most... Mr Leno probably made her gain another 10 years of life with his kindness...... and that's good.
how sweet of you Jay
You see this, and Jay's story of the kid and the Lamborghini Countach... Jay, you're just a likable guy.
She looks fantastic for 93 and the car looks great for 60 something years old. :D
Our neighbor got one of these used, for "his wife", in 1957. She was the designated driver in the neighborhood and I remember how shinny brown, huge and DELUX the car was. I was ten.
Thanks for sharing...
She's 93??? I thought that was the daughter initially.
Wow. What a great thing to do. And thank God for people like Jay Leno who restore and maintain these beauties for our future prosperity. I'm from Ireland and you guys were light years ahead of us on this side of the Atlantic in the fifties. I watched the Countach video and that was a great thing to do for the school kid. I could move in to his garage and never leave it until I die! Lucky you know what. Well done Jay Leno and thanks for sharing this channel with us.
Gestures like this show that true car guys have a heart. Not just more money than brains. I know from personal experience that just seeing a car that was a part of my life growing up was a very powerful experience, you loose track of them and assume that they went to the crusher long ago and all of a sudden there it is again. I admit I sniffled and cried. ( 1967 Galaxy 500. 289 with a three on the tree.) I always wondered just how many came that way..
Shows just how Jay was nice enough to let the previous owner see their car. She seemed very pleased to see her old car again and that it was all fixed up. Imagine brought back a lot of memories from way back when.
That is a great thing you did. It was hard to keep a dry eye watching this but it was great.
Made a nice old lady very happy and preserved a nice little piece of Americana.....good on you Jay!
He should have kept it green
this is why i love classics so much, if u look at cars in the junk yard, they all have a history, how it left the factory, who was the owner, what did they do with the car, where did they drive it to and the memories of someones childhood
Such a wonderful thing that Jay Leno did with this old Hornet, and how thrilled the owner's wife was with the restoration and the drive. Jay, you are the man!
Nice job Jay, and that lady is beautiful for 93! Both of them are treasures.
Jay,
Thanks so much for being a nice guy! The young people of today need any role model they can find that's not killing people and blowing things up. This kind of "event" is more important than you can possibly imagine! You make the world a little bit better for us all. Thanks again......
Lovely to see an elderly lady looking so smart.
Mohamed ya habibi. She did not have a boring life! Seeing a car that was part of her life for years had brought back great memories. She look amazing for a 93 year old. Jay, Thank you for making this family happy and savings this awesome Hornet. Great video just like all other videos on ur channel.
First world problems, I would have kept it green but my other Hudson is green.
What would you have done?
the yellow colour is okay in my opinion but i would of painted it navy or some kind of dark blue. that or torino red
I prefer 1. world problems over 2. or 3. world problems. =)
Dj Djero Oh great ,social justice warrior commentary , as a Libyan born African child of the 3rd world I challenge you to trade your 1st world life you have contempt for any day in exchange for the life I had in Libya and my wife had in Lebanon, the scheme California is implementing " U.N. agenda 21 " was drawn up for bidding star trek communists like yourself, a 250sq ft apartment & bus pass will be your home & transportation before your my age ,if your in California it will be your reality before your 40 ,the socialists dream of the uniform income payments for all who don't work .
Yellow is gross on any car, especially a streamlined beauty like the Hornet.
I am so happy Jay did that for this lady,,what class he has,,miss his show ,,he was a riot in a kind way
Jay, Thank you - I have tears - such a work of art.
You are a class act Mr. Leno. I'd bet the day meant more to this lovely lady than you can imagine!
First thing i thought off when i saw "Hudson Hornet" was Doc in the movie "Cars"...
Atllep Same here. That's where I first learned of the Hornet.
The first "Cars" movie gave a quick, but essential, history of the car; I loved it!
It´s great to make someone smile, specially after she was so attached to this beautiful vehicle. very nice Mr Leno, you are a good man
Millions of us came across the country in the family car. Our family did it in the early forties; '36 Dodge 4 door, broke a rear leaf spring in Wyoming & a blacksmith made a new spring. It was far easier than it was for people who moved west in wagons.
DOUBLE thumbs up- God bless that lady, she looks great for 93 and great of Jay to be so personal to the previous owner, I am sure that brought back many memories for her
You can see civics and VWs any day on any street. These classics are disappearing from existence, and I am so grateful that jay takes the time to make such great informational and heart touching car videos.
+Jay Leno's Garage You know, I have been watching as many videos one can watch from your garage here in youtube. There are all interesting and informative and shows the depth and extend of your knowledge and passion but boy, this one is on a whole different level. I would have never understood, until I actually saw these people, how much it means to them you taking care of what once used to be part of their life and keeping this way their memories alive. Much more than just a mere collector. Bravo!
Jay is a real class act! I can't help but love the guy.
Absolutely splendid. I'm sure few will believe this My Ol' Man was a Hudson Man. In the late 1950's He had a Hudson just like that, cream colored and the same inside - dash etc. I recall the steering wheel and shift knob on the "3 on the tree with overdrive" looked ivory, etc. In 1957 He traded it in at Park motors in Anaconda Mt. for a 1957 Hudson Hornet. It had the V/8 with "three on the tree with overdrive. I've heard it was the last of the Hudson Hornets and made to use up 1956 parts.
Beautiful looking car. I love the visor over the windscreen. Beautiful story behind the car. I love the expression on the old lady's face when she sees the Hudson Hornet. Priceless.
That was super nice of Jay to do this. In spite of not having the "plump" sounding horn at the end of the video...
Jay Leno has a great demeanor and funny, because of his good nature humor and kindness
which comes through all his videos.
That's a really cool thing Jay did. That Hornet, (& that sweet lady) deserve to keep going for a long time...some of us now probably won't get to 93.
One of my dream cars, growing up my dad had a '51 convertible that was gold with a red leather interior.
Thanks for this video jay.. one of my favorites. Brought me to tears how happy she was with it
I bought my 1983 Mercedes 300D from a 89 year old man. He was the original owner and loved the car. It currently has 436,000+ miles on it and I hope to keep it in excellent condition for years to come.
What a wonderful heartfelt story.
Despite his well earned massive wealth, Mr. Jay Leno remains one of the most kind celebrities I've ever known about, thankfully again by this kindhearted completely unnecessary visit to a 93-year-old sweetheart of a lady! Kudos aplenty to you, Mr. Leno!
She looks amazing being 93 years old! Quite incredible. She might live for another 93 years if she keeps on like that. :D Amazing.
the lines on this car are PERFECT
And, see, I am a 23 year old guy here primarily for the prewar cars- mostly I ignore the new supercars. That is what makes the channel great, though; almost anyone can come on here and find something they like. Be it a brass era Cadillac, a Honda S600 roadster or a Bugatti Veyron, he's got videos on them all! Great variety, Jay. Keep it up!
Great to see Jay in his own element, enjoying what he truly loves.
My penultimate favorite Jay vid (except for the Kustom Kaiser, my #1 fav!!!) yet - and what a lovely woman - she is mighty spry for 93 - we should all be so lucky!
Jay Leno, automotive historical hero.
God Bless Jay Leno and God Bless that Grand Old Lady !!!!
Not very many videos can put a smile on my face but this one did. Great job with the car.
Really class job. You brought joy to a woman and preserved a classic car. Not sure how it could be better.
She's a doll.
what a lovely story... it's nice how a car can hold so many memories and emotion. That car will live on.
That was very nice of you Jay, I have always wanted to see someone have an opportunity to do such a nice thing. It was very noble of you. Thanks for sharing !
She has a such a sweet presence, hard to believe she is 93. Nice presentation.
Another reason why Jay is such an awesome guy
When I was a kid I used to be a huge fan of the Hornet. It is a really cool car!
So this will be Jay's career after the Tonight Show, bringing back people's dreams. Great job Jay!!!
Good "baseball cap" sun visor over the windshield for late 1940s and early 1950s cars, such as 1949-1951 Mercury, 1948-1954 Hudson (step down models), 1946-1951 Graham, Fraser, and Kaiser, 1949-1952 Chevrolet DeLuxe, 1949-1950 Plymouth Special DeLuxe, and 1949-1951 "Shoebox" Ford. These cars are great for taking family to the baseball games for a discount price because it does equipped with a "baseball cap" sun visor over the windshield.
Awesome what you dit to that Hudson Jay, and to visit this charming lady , respect for that .
Definitely had to shed some tears for this one
One of my dream cars! but being from England i doubt I'll ever own one
Alex Mitchell I wish I got this car!! But nowadays those legends are costly af
There's a British Hudson club. Some were exported there. Hudson Essex Terraplane Railton and Brough Superior
Bless your heart Jay. You are a great guy. I had a pleasure being on your show once and we enjoyed it. Love you garage and and all the fancy cars.
Jay looks like the womans dad. Shes very nice looking for 93
IKR? I don't think he looks like her DAD, But definitely could be her kid brother!
Those stories the kids were saying reminded me of my childhood.
No kid nowadays will ever experience the 100 mile an hour without seatbelts.
Gawd, I miss those days.
Couldn't find a nicer guy than Mr Jay Lenno. keep up the good work
My Dad had a ‘52 4 door back in the mid sixties. We used to drop the rear seat center arm rest and it became my little sisters car seat. I wish to this day I had bought from my Dad.
aw jay keep the history alive so cool.
Sweet. Real sweet. Good job Mr Leno. Nice you let them see it again.
Those Hudson Hornets were IT on the NASCAR race tracks in the early 1950s! And they STILL look great going down the road today!
He should have given it back to them. .now that would be an awesome present for this family! ! !
You buy her one then...
Kiryutka22 the reason Jay got it is none of them would take care of it. People have become accustom to modern disposable cars.
Hey Jay, great story and a wonderful restoration job on the Hudson. I once knew a guy that put Chrysler hemisphere in the Hudson’s. Top end, unbeatable. Always wanted one, but too old now. Keep up the good work, America admires you for your dedication to being a charitable man. Thank you. Edward
What a pretty lady! My brother had a 51 Hudson another brother had a 49 Mercury at the same time. I had a 62 VW then. The Hudson would always win the race from town to a hamlet 10 miles away on a road designed for a 45 Mph speed limit! I will say this; it was less than 12 minutes! Much less. I really appreciate Jay's dedication to the Automobile. he is a very good human being.
Thank you Jay for this video and for showing us all your classic cars. She looked great and so did the car.
This made me smile!
Jay is a prince. Total class act.
What an absolutely MAJESTIC car!
Yep. They don't make them like they used to. Every car was distinctive.
Jay, you are a true hero.
That has to be one of the youngest 93 year olds I've ever witnessed. And I see quite a few where I live and work. Jay is just one heck of a really nice man. The parents raised him well!
That picture of her was great and she looked beautiful and did so at 93
Wow, she's amazing! 93 and still so vibrant. So glad Jay was able to make yet another quality person's day.
For some reason I still thinking Jay should've painted it pink, why? Everytime I see a Hudson Hornet, it reminds me of the Hornet in the movie "Porky's" LOL..."Is Mike Hunt here?" Hahahaha
No, my family took a tour of the garage, he still has it and seems to plan on keeping it. I remember that one especially, because we went to the show immediately after, and this was the car he was driving that day.
Wow! What an amazing lady!
She looks more like 63 than 93!
Jay...You are a Lovely Guy!
Well done! :)
