- Today we take you behind the scenes with the all-electric Pebble Flow. The semi-autonomous, solar powered RV that begins deliveries later this year.
We get an inside look at some of the features, tech and specs of the brainchild of former Apple and Tesla executives who banded together to create an electric RV that blends todays tech and features in EVs into a recreational vehicle.

Dang this is so cool!
Looks like the rear will hit the ground every time you start an incline. 25 feet just seems too long for a single axle - would be better if it had dual axle or was shorter.
Yea kind of crazy that’s it single axle especially since it’s advertised for people who can’t even hook up a trailer, i wouldn’t tow anything less than a tandem because even if one tires flat you could keep going for a while.
Can’t Wait To See The Final Product When They Are Done. Looking To Pre-Order Soon. I Have Many Uses For The All Purpose RV For The Future.
Interesting. I wonder if the windows and walls are properly insulated? Having travelled a lot in our current commercially built camper van and having built my own long ago, I have learned that the number one factor for comfort and convenience is good insulation. Poorly insulated walls and single pane windows will guarantee that your living space is usually too hot or too cold, not to mention noisy... so I hope these developers, who seem to be good engineers, have thought of that.
It's designed in California. It will be a summer only camper.
Have you noticed it sometimes gets hot in summer?@@TroySavary
Great product for the Cybertruck considering it has bidirectional charging and is meant for exploring😄
Wow, those prices surprised me. Way better than expected. Love to see it!
Great coverage Kim Java!
Great in-depth look, Kim 👍 As someone who does a lot of camping and outdoor adventures, this is probably the product I’m most excited for. Perfectly compliments the Cybertruck which can charge both ways to help top off. Fingers crossed they start deliveries on-time later this year.
Pebble Flow will look nice behind your Cybertruck :)
Price: $109,000 for the model that has NO motors, or $125,000 for the model that has 2 motors and the self-hitching program.
Less than I expected.
Hi Kim. You’ve been hands on with both the Lightship L1 and the Pebble Flow. Wondering if you can weigh in on something. I have a reservation on both. I’ve been told recently by execs at Lightship that they plan to put the charge port for the L1 at the front of the RV, in the tongue box. The charge port for the Pebble Flow is in the back of the RV. Charging the travel trailer while traveling will be of critical importance since I’ll be towing it with my Cybertruck, so I would be aiming to charge at Tesla superchargers. I believe there is a major design flaw in the L1 when it comes to charging on the road. If I pull up to a supercharger, I need to back my Cybertruck into a stall, meaning I need to drop the L1 in order to do so. Once I drop it, it won’t move until I reconnect it. With the charge port in the front, that would mean it would be impossible to charge the L1 at a supercharger, unless there is a pull through stall (low likelihood) or I take up almost all the spaces by parking parallel to all the chargers (which is not an option for me as I am a long time Tesla driver and this would be a BS move). The Pebble solves this by either (1) backing the trailer into the spot, plugging it in, disconnecting the truck, and then pulling the truck into it’s own spot; or (2) using the magic hitch to direct it to the charging spot. Do you think I’m missing something on the L1?
This will be my ADU.
I love this product. They should offer a version with a polished aluminum exterior to rival airstreams. Those are hugely successful and maintain their resale value decades later.
Imagine updating the software 25 years from now..... 🤓
great concept. I love everything about except 1 thing: mileage of up to 200 miles is prohibitive for most RV-ers trying to get from point A to point B. This works for someone living in Los Angeles trying to get to the mountains maybe but not great for those of us that need to travel more than 300 miles. Do you think that will change in the future?
This is pretty sick! I look forward to seeing more on this for sure.
This is my type of camper❤❤❤
Looks so cool! I wish a Model X could tow it but a Cybertruck would be great- especially since there’s not a ton of room if you instead fill up the bed with a camper…
I don't see any indication that a Model X cannot tow the Pebble Flow that has 2 motors.
@@scottbreseke716legally the Model X has a tow rating of 5,000 pounds. I have no doubt it could physically tow it though. Rivian R1S has a 7700 pound tow rating for about the same price.
This new kind of self propelled trailer kind of eliminates cooling and braking issues that go into tow ratings, but since the base model doesn’t have the motors, the 6500 pound limit is still there.
Although there is the consideration that if you are using the trailer and hit a string of cool, cloudy days and deplete the battery, then it will still drag 6500 pounds even with the motors until you can get to a charging station.
It would be cool if they had a regen charging feature where you could tow it at low speed for a couple miles and recharge the battery.
I was always afraid to get an tv but man this is amazing!!!!
If you got more money than god allows you will certainly be able to afford one.
@@wolfgangpreier9160 god bless you too man
As someone who's interested in living in the Pebble Flow or Lightship fulltime, a MUST-HAVE feature for me is if it's 4 season capable (how well is it insulated?) like Oliver Travel Trailers or Northern Lite truck campers. Also, maintenance/repairability. How easy is it to get at the electronics/battery for repairs or replacement?
Also, is it made of fiberglass? Can it withstand a flood and keep water out of the interior/internals (almost like a boat)?
@@Mr2Reviews The shell of the Pebble Flow is made of aluminum composite and is fully insulated. We're doing various real world tests and will share more information about our service strategy later this year as we get closer to production. :)
Love it smart design !
Hopefully they will offer different colors and down the line o can see a larger version.
AC Future has something too. This is a brand new electric RV start up that’s making the worlds first electric transformer house. This is a 20 foot small camper motorhome but when you’re out of campsite it expands to 29 feet long and the rear folds out 8 feet to make a bedroom, and then the kitchen wall slides out to expand the kitchen and create a shower in the bathroom. and then the wall that houses the sofa when driving extends out 8 feet to make a full size, living room and dining room with four person dining room table a physical prototype, will get unveiled in May
Imagine listing a storage tunnel as something new for trailers.
Great. This will encourage a bunch of people with no idea how to pull a trailer to not even bother learning. If you are too unskilled to back up to the hitch, you have no business trailering. Same with backing into the camping spot.
Whow, this is really neat!
Love this. Wouldn't mind one of these in sunny South Africa where we camp out a lot!! Pretty Pleeeease?
pretty cool ! two more wheels and it becomes a caravan !
One more wheel and it becomes a car!
I missed this at CES! I wanted to see it.
Is the price point sustainable? At $110k and up I think most people will go with a regular family camper for $20-35k new.
I can go from Croatia to Dubai 125 times , 6 days trip , Direct flight , breakfast and launch !
@@edicostantini5020why would you go so many times lol
get the pebble on the double to the netherlands in europe and you will sell a lot of them for sure, as the netherlands is a caravan country thanks
Makes it easy for supercharging
Awesome !!!!
Now all we need is a fully autonomous self driving hauling truck.
Does the skylight above the bed tint, darken in any way or have a shade? I noticed that when the windows darkened, the skylight stayed the same. Great until you want to sleep in or keep additional heat out.
Ìt needs to have an intergrated outside full length awning as you wont be sitting in a box all day. Where does the spare wheel fit? Does it have offroad suspension? Is it self-leveling? Does it have an outside hatch to empty toilet waste?
Wow. They did a great job. :)
very nice but too low ceiling for me (192cm)... only 6vm more is not very airy but that is a problem for me in any of them
Amazing product but this thing cost a third of my house lol.
Exactly! The median house price in America in 2024 is $360,000. A lot of people who live in a tiny apartment and can’t compete with REITs to buy a starter home are going to buy these to live on the road. Or put in on cheap land outside the city instead of building a comparable house. I love it!
I would like this in 16feet version .
How much does it cost to replace the battery? Is there easy access to the battery and electrical? What is involved with expanding battery capacity/adding more batteries? How about adding more solar? Is the battery Lithium Iron Phosphate? Who manufactures the battery? Can you charge this on a Tesla charger? Can it plug in to 220v? or only 110? How many max amps will it pull?
Very interesting concept RV. Is there any plans for adding a ramp for easy access for a mobility scooter or a walker to enter the door?
How long will the batteries last before needing to be replaced? How much will it cost?
magic hitch repeat two times :P
Some small new thing since they unveiled this but I'm still not a fan. This is not so RV based on my research on van/RV a year ago. The design feels like a portable office with huge shower because RV/van life involves a lot outdoor life/hobbies which this Pebble design restricts. The huge integrated battery and solar is commendable though-no RV/Van has yet to come up with that. Based on the price, they are targeting the Airstream buyer. I'm no expert but the Airstream still looks superior over this.
My kind of RV!
Can it charge a Tesla? So in theory unlimited range and free charging for life. You can charge at home from the RV to the car. Can it replace solar on your roof and supply power to the home during or even not during emergency?
It's pretty cool! Dunno which will prove the most popular, however: the Pebble Flow or the Lightship…? Are you gonna invest in one of these RVs, Kim? You're really gonna have to expand your garage, then! There's no way I could afford one, and will have to just stick with my extremely modest Lees-ure Lite camper.
Seems like a decent price for a complex product. I think they could make a version without batteries too
Not perfect yet. It needs about 10kw of solar and a 1 or 2 kw wind turbine in order to charge the towing vehicle and the trailer while camping:)
Adding a wind turbine would reduce range not increase it if deployed while travelling. Due to the inefficiency of the turbine.
@donwhyte9855 you're right I worded that poorly. To charge while camping. I'll edit it.
Does the solar run the AC and for how long?
what is the range and will it be NACS compatible?
One question i would ask is if they are working with Sandy Munro?
This is really cool! Can’t imagine what the pricing will be. Not attainable for most I bet.
We covered it in the video. 109k for base
45 kW doesn’t sound like a whole lot I mean yes it’s gonna be better than pulling a deadweight trailer as far as your range but it’s not gonna give you that much more as it has less than your EV. That’s gonna be towing it anyway.
What is the difference between this and the lightship
Does the toilet have a bidet? I hope so.
Can a model Y, S and X tow it?
It’s all fun n games until you need service 😮
Looks great other then price
than
Too heavy for a model y, so only Rivian/Cybertruck able to tow it as an ev? 🤔
Model Y should be able to pull it if you get the Pebble Flow model that has 2 motors and the self-hitch program.
Now do a small empty one
This is kinda neat. I can't say I like the ability to make the bathroom glass(?) wall see through or not - it should just not be see through.
I still say Tesla should create an RV. An actual, RV - a drivable, RV.
At $109,000.00 who can afford it?
They definitely have the Tesla skill of taking things already invented, giving them a new name, and pretending they invented it.
Timberwolf is so much cooler and cheaper… this is just overhyped and overpriced
single axle? forget about it, it will go nowhere. The designers have no idea of how to live on the road.
Battery's are like people not to cold not to warm, in a cold winter nothing....and ++++++ better think 10x before you buy
that isnt an RV
agreed
way too much money
Facts
E-trailer campers are designed by people who don't camp, it's a great idea but these people don't understand interiors in any way, for the price it should be waay better designed inside
Cool. Combines wretched excess and virtue signaling.
There are tons of hunters who claim to be conservationists. Are they “virtue signaling” because they say they care about the environment/ecology? They drive massive RVs and huge trucks with camper trailers. Is that “wretched excess” too? Or is it only wretched excess or virtue signaling when it’s electric because you associate that with people you don’t like?
