This Could Happen To Any Home Crypto Miner, Right!?

  • Mining cryptocurrency at home presents its challenges yet offers substantial rewards. During the previous surge in cryptocurrency value, I experienced significant financial success by GPU mining within my dedicated mining shed. The endeavor of mining Bitcoin at home involves overcoming obstacles such as managing the heat emitted by mining equipment and the sound produced by high-speed fans. To alleviate these issues, I implemented a FOG Hashing C2 Immersion System last year, which has simplified the operation of full-sized ASIC miners in a residential setting. This system effectively mitigates the two primary concerns for home miners: excessive noise and heat. In a recent video, however, I encountered a new challenge: performing maintenance and repairs on a Bitmain Antminer S19 XP Bitcoin Miner that is immersed in cooling oil.

      I have a Fog Hashing C6. I knew it would be a mess, so I bought a stainless steel sink and bucket. I added a filter to collect the fluid. Worked like a charm.

    I used my heat in the winter for the house heating, trying to retro miners into existing heating systems can be challenging. I would love to bring asic home heating to every house in the US to start. Talk about true decentralization and getting paid to heat ur house, it's a win on both fronts.

    good thing to see that my suspicions about using solid one piece coolingblocks in a submercion system is not a good idea as these blocks use the thermopaste on the asics to make a good connection , guess i stick with the soldered on individual coolingribs
    looking at you struggling taking the miner out : might be an isea to have a drying rack that fits over half of the oilbath alowing the oil to drip out of the miner straigh back intoo the system
    looking at the one piece cooling blocks on those hashboards , you might want to investigate if theres a thermal paste that works with the oil and clean repaste the hashboards that still work as i suspect they be running at uneven temperatures too because of loosing contact with the coolingblock

    I finally got my fog hashing last month and put my 2 ks3m in there so far so good no problems i did repaste to both of them before put them in temp around 70 to 80 C

      You’re running them at 70-80c or Fahrenheit?

    • @jafuentes89
      @jafuentes89 Před 24 dny

      @troylindsey1103 Fahrenheit is 70/80 and exhaust on the software is about 30 Celsius

    If you use an ePic control board, you can shut down individual hash board from the software.

    Ive had 2nd hand mineral oil miners (S9) and they have all been broken, ive noticed the solder or components on the control boards DO NOT LIKE mineral oil surrounding them, also the hash boards are mostly damaged and have absolutely no clear indication of why, i assume its the components on the boards that control resistance or capacitance

    That would be my #1 concern is oil can have bad interactions with petroleum based products. Like break down certain compounds, or harden rubber/plastics.

    Between your problem and watching Voskoin's struggles, even if I could afford it, I don't want to do immersion! I liked the music though.

    Do not update the S21's to the april firmware . It will lock out the brains from installing . Unless something has changed recently .
