Thank you for your very kind comment. I'm happy I can help with this. I used a balloon for this video incase one did have a large beach ball inflatable. If you are planning a soccer party, I also made a video of a soccer ball party favor for the guest that can be fill with treats. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again and happy crafting.

Nice video! Exactly what I’m looking for. I’m trying to make a perfect sphere.
Any idea how these hold up with the hits and candy? I’m trying to see if I can make an eye of Sauron piñata for my brother.

      Hi there,
Thanks for watching! I glad this was helpful. I would suggest to use a beach ball inflatable for a perfect sphere. I used this method for the this video because the ball I ordered was delayed in shipping and needed it asap. I normally do about 9-11 layers for a strong pinata. Having 9-11 layers, my family events on average have about 8-12 kids , ages ranging from 3-17, and all will get a turn to hit the pinata and at times they go twice. Please keep in mind the stronger the pinata the more hits will take to break and due to this some candy might get opened from the impact. I usually use "stronger candies like starbursts, snickers, air heads, ect. I try to avoid bagged candies like m&ms, skittles unless I do a 7-9 layer pinata.

What is the measure of the lines of the pentagons?

    • @the12makeit

Hi thanks for watching. Each side (lines) of the pentagons are 4 inches long.

    Hi.
I want to make a soccer ball for a display. How do you know what sizes to make the pentagons and the hexagons please.
I’m terrible at maths and have been searching all over for help.
    Thank you

      Hi there,
My method is not exactly accurate as it will be a bit off on the measurements due to the ball being round due to the shape's curve but the way I did it in the video was basically that way it came out with slight measurements being a bit off and I just worked with it that to get it as close as possible.
I was thinking of doing another pinata using card board of the shapes (corners of the shapes are supposed to be the same lengths) and attaching them together then sealing it. However, it will have a more flatter shape than a curved shape.
Another option is if you can find a large soccer ball inflatable, and blow it up then get a piece of paper and trace the shapes. Then make the pinata using the same inflatable using paper mache mix and paper, then use the shapes as your guides since it will around the same size just slight larger depending on the thickness of the pinata you make.
I do have a video where I make a party favor soccer ball to fill with treats. You can use this method also just make the shapes larger in size. Here is the link to that video:
      czcams.com/video/7mMdINhZxbE/video.html
If you don't plan on using it as a pinata, I would just inflate the ball and there you have or purchase a balloon soccer ball.
Here are 2 different sizes. However I would go to my local stores and see they have better prices or sell in singles.

I have a large balloon that’s already papier-mâché. Thinking of changing it to a soccer ball.

      @@fatimamirza2100 Hi there,
I know what you mean. I was unable to find that kind of information as well so I had to play around to get the best results.
Basically, I made 2 lines going up and down (vertically) that I tried to make as even as possible, like in the video (10:44 of the video), then one line in the middle of the ball going side ways (horizontally). That would create my mid points of where to start drawing the pentagons. I made each line of the pentagons 4 inches in width but you can adjust it to your liking. As you can tell in the video, I had drawn the shapes a few times to get the best results.
I'm sorry, I wish I had the best and most accurate way of doing it.

Thanks for watching! I definitely will.
I actually have a video I recently posted of me dropping a 5 pound free weight on different numbered layered balloons to show the strength. I will be uploading another with more layers but I do have one coming with one of my pinatas getting hit. Thank you for the suggestion.
