  • On my last day in Dubai we take a short road trip to check out the brand new Louvre Abu Dhabi museum that just opened! On the way I try "karak" which is a delicious milk tea popular in Dubai. After the amazing trip looking at world famous art pieces at the Louvre, we head to a well known restaurant Al Fanar for some traditional authentic Emirati meal!

Thank you, Pailin. I'm not sure how I feel about the "Louvre". The working conditions of those who constructed it were horrific... But that interwoven dome is very interesting.

what about the workers? do you care about workers at your own country? what about women in your country? what about other issues in your own country? did you take it upon yourself to help them in person? ...
If you don't live in UAE then you don't know much about it because the foreign media likes to portray it in a certain negative way, YES we have issues like every other country but our workers are well treated, where I live people (Emirati) prepare fresh food , new clothes , water (bottled) and give it to the workers in their area, they give them money too. Emirati who owns a construction companies take super care of the workers and their families so, educate yourself about UAE and it's great culture before making a stupid comment ^^ some international companies think they can abuse the workers because we live in a relatively new country, H.H ruler of Dubai goes to the workers himself and established legislation to protect them, workers can directly approach government, I can go on really ^^ take your filth somewhere else maybe be to own country .. :)

Anzan Hoshin Roshi that's not the only problem! Most of the art displayed there are stolen and they won't even admit and play dumb!

Sarah AlShamsi --- Thanks for clarifying the condition of the workers. I think it is human nature to focus on that which is negative when it comes to cultures that differ from our own. I would love to visit the UAE someday but unfortunately I am 71 years old and an invalid. Experiencing the lifestyle of those outside the U.S. was a passion of mine back in the days when I had good health. Germany, Japan, Australia, England, Wales, France, Italy, Canada, Sicily, and Fuji are some of the countries I have had the privilege of visiting. Such fond memories!

Thank you for writing me this message you made my day, you seem like you lived a great life (I'm sure many people would switch their lives with yours just to visit half of the countries you've visited), even now at 71, you can still enjoy it, the technology allows us to interact beyond our capabilities and it's free (almost)!

The O.P is 100% correct. The UAE is a racist, oil mafia run, Furnace. A good replica of hell, if ever you needed one. Every thing you see was built by blue collared slaves. We all know this. But what a lot of people don't know that, even the white collared workers who did the number crunching and the engineering behind all these elaborate designs are paid according to a racial/religious heirarchy. 1. Emarati 2.Palestinian/Eqyptian 3. White, other Sunni Arabs 4. Shia Arabs. 5. All other Muslims. 6. Everyone else. I lived there from age 2 to 15. Their children will pay for their sins. I just hope those who have been wronged will be merciful, because otherwise, there wouldn't be a single Emarati left.
