True. I literally just clicked on this video, even though I thought it was an old one. Because the skirt in the thumbnail looks familiar. I still just felt like watching it to relax a bit and maybe get some inspiration for a similar project (I just bought two sets of bed linens at IKEA, that were on sale for almost nothing. Finally enough affordable material for two or three really swirly, voluminous skirts!)

The way you described the kind of change you need is what we call in german 'Tapetenwechsel' - wallpaper change. It literally means, when you are staring at your wallpaper, and you like staring at your wallpaper but you really get restless staring at that wallpaper. But you don't wanna do anything else than staring at your wallpaper, not even stare at someone elses wallpaper. You just need YOUR wallpaper to change so you can stare at it in peace for a while again.

Yeah. It's much colder this year. Plan for low 60's at best. I'm roasting." Code translation for is "Oh my god, its bleeping hot!') if you're lucky.
Hampton court is beautiful, but breezy. (I'm guessing you're going to the RSN for classes). I suggest you pack thick leggings if you have not left yet-just in case. Maybe even a scarf. Not kidding. We had like two days of mild USA weather in greater London, and that place is drafty.

This little travel tip comes from my grandmother.. could have been further but she didn't say where it came from.
Pack what you like in a suitcase.. put that suitcase in a slightly larger one, in case you shop.
When it comes time to fly home.. pack the dirty laundry and mail it home. She did that when they went to Japan in the early 40s.. you know.. before Pearl Harbor. Again for Cuba, when we could still go there and I think Germany too.
Most of the family does this. When I went to Niagara Falls, the Canadian side, I drove over the border the day before I flew, found a mail boxes etc and mailed 2 suitcases home. They insisted they be in a box *eye roll*
Gram always said it was nice to get home and have some rest time before doing the laundry.

You have to remember, England is on the same kind of longitude as mid-Canada! 😂 I know I didn't realise just HOW NORTHERLY England was until I got here. 😂 I knew it was further north, but I figured it was like as far North as New York or maybe even Maine. That high up on the ol' globe means it's cooler naturally, despite the temperature readings. I really loved what you said about breaking everything down into steps. I personally find that very helpful/motivating, to sit down and make a list of every single step I need to do in a project. My sewing time has dropped so much since I had kids (thankfully, they're getting old enough now that it's starting to get easier to fit it in again), and sometimes I just really need that mental benchmark of knowing that I just need to complete this step, and then I'm at a good stopping point and can set it aside. It still takes me forever to finish any project that's more than absolutely basic, but I'll get there. It's been fun to follow your England adventures on Instagram!

It really sounds like you are writing the captions, and they are cute and funny and lovely. Thank you for being so inspiring and entertaining, and giving lovely extra joy to people who use the captions. Here's hoping you are having the greatest 'break' in England.

My favorite place to visit is the Danish west coast. Every time I get there it feels like coming home.
But in second place is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I've been there in the 90s when the reef was still alive and it was breathtakingly beautiful.
I would really like to visit the coast of Italy. I've visited the Mediterranean Sea in Greece several times. Plus I've visited Italy several times, but only in the north: Milano, Turino, Monte Rosa, Domodossola, Gran Paradiso, Merano, Bolzano, Lago di Como, Lago Maggiore, Lago di Lugano, Lago di Garda,...
I don't know why but I love the sea and I don't like the mountains. I don't hate them, their existence is okay with me, but I don't want to be there. It took me years to realize that. This year I will visit Denmark, again, but next year I will visit the Italian coast. Finally!

From Northern California but residing in Europe for 25 years and until recently it was safe to describe England/Netherlands/Belgium weather at about 6 weeks BEHIND California’s. This based on comparing my family’s weather to my weather in these countries and when specific flowers and trees bloom (magnolias, cherry trees, daffodils, tulips…). Now it’s going crazy so it’s harder to predict. But in general it is still somewhat useful to think in this way. But only specifically California versus those countries I’ve lived in. No clue about other states and countries.

I just did this too! I mostly went for knee length dresses with elastic waists to get rid of the boxy form. That way I could get rid of most of my shirts. All light fabrics of different sorts. We’re going to Japan in September (think Florida weather) so needed both light weight in my bag and on my body. I’m excited to find out if I have a real fabric preference!

I really enjoyed this video. I'm currently in the middle of larger (space) project, and it's a hassle to go to a sewing meet or give up space at home to have someone over to sew with me, so this was really enjoyable to watch and treat as a craft-with-me type video.
