Indeed The level of the meticulous attention to detail & all the hard work they invested really paid off as it yielded a work of art. The original 1980 tv mini series was one of the first big multi episode tv epics that was a precursor to modern shows that was culturally significant. It introduced Japanese culture & history to US audiences that had a hand in spreading. It’s part of the reason the US is soaked in a lot of Japanese culture now. They had big shoes to fill as the Shogun book & original show was much beloved. I think they surpassed every expectation if not smashed them
I see this guy in movie..I don't ask questions..just click and enjoy ...he never disappoint us .. one of the greatest actor in our time that need to be in more movies
Hiroyuki Sanada has been a martial artist all his life and is already very skilled with the blade. The fact that he still joined the bootcamp is a testament to his dedication.
The entire cast has done a masterful job with this show. Hiro Sanada & Ana Sawai most of all. If they do not receive awards for this, then it will be a travesty. Great show, masterfully done. I remember the original series. It pales in comparison to this current version. Well done to all involved!!
After seeing him be one of the only good parts in last samurai when I was a kid, and then going on to being one of the only good parts in 47 ronin, it’s nice he finally got an actually good western samurai project that he could be apart of and get the recognition he deserves. Actor is criminally underrated
Y’know, this explains even more why he became a hands on producer 😅 Initially I thought he just took an EP role for the profit cut (common move for high profile actors)
@@reanukeeves3692 Not at all! I was trying to be sarcastic and make light humour about the language barrier in the show. Not demeaning anyone in real life.
They actually built a set for this at the inlet in Port Moody, by Rocky Point. They built a Japanese-style village and a hybrid CGI-rig of a British ship.
Reminds of the dedication it took to film LOTR. Not to say Shogun is at that scale YET, but it’s rare to find the dedication to the craft like this these days.
This man has been haunting my imagination since i could remember, everytime i read a book that describes a man in an ancient japanese-like scenes i always automatically imagined his face all the time
Shogun was really a masterpiece, huge RESPECT to the artistry of the show. Its incomparable and I was so hooked. To the cast and the crews behind the scenes, Arigatto-gozaimasu! Mina, Omodetō! It was beautiful, I'll definitely rewatch it.
What i like the most is that the show was more focused on the political dynamic and culture, history hierarchy and how the society functioned. The fight scenes though not many and not the focus of the show were authentic and really well executed..
Aww Look he is smiling & proud like for the first time in his life he knows he accomplished something amazing, in this television age it was NEEDED. Thank you sir!
Mr HIROYUKI SANADA is truly great actor .This the reason that I'm admire him so much. His credibility is so much great .I love you ,my only one idol in this world.
This show is truely a masterpiece cery brilliant writting and superb acting from all charcters gonna miss this show i kinda hoping for season 2 but its fine to keep it that way just amazing series
Memoirs of a Geisha did this same thing. *chefs kiss* they had separate “classes” to prepare actors for the roles (dressing, walking, speech, culture, hell even tea making) and it really shows absolutely beautifully in the movie and everything ive seen from shogun looks amazing.
Hiroyuki is right. It DID work. Watching Shōgun is like playing Kingdom Come: Deliverence. The great story backed up by a passionate attention to historical accuracy is making this a very addictive show😊
Very early in the 90’s I first seen Sanada Hiroyuki in the nhk Taiga drama “Taiheiki” as Ashikaga Takauji. Phenomenal 40plus chapters. I would love to see that series again. There were a lot of famous actors and good too! He was the lead actor 💯💯💯
I’ve seen plenty of samurai and general historical Japan inspired anime, but idk if I’ve ever seen one that’s quite accurate unfortunately What’d you recommend? (Same question for live action if anyone got them)
Show is brilliant. Tried few times to hold for next week to wach 2 series in row, but restistance lasted just few hours. Somehow i feel holywood will not nominate this show at all like it never happened
Hiroyuki is an incredible class act of a gentleman.
Totally agree 👍
Have you seen much of his other work?
He deserves an Emmy
he better get an Emmy for this show
Wont happen. Hollywood is incredibly racist lmao
If this man doesn’t get at LEAST one Emmy.. we ride at dawn for Sanada-san!!
Auuuuuuuuuuuu
Manifesting Awards for Sanada-san 😌🙏✨
I like how he enjoys every process of making a show. Ahh! Protect him at all cost! 😤👏
Absolutely incredible actor. The show was epic.
The entire show is breathtaking. The scenery, the cinematography, the acting. Just amazing.

Everyone should be inspired to be like this legend, just a purely respectful good man.

Affirmative, even the cameo appearance in avengers

hiroyuki rocks
We need more samurai series like this.

Also the only good part of Mortal Kombat
Hey, Ken Watanabe & that 1 little kid were also good. Don't kid yourself.
Y’know, this explains even more why he became a hands on producer 😅

@@P.Whitestrake Ken Watanabe is a great actor. He's really good in Tokyo Vice, which is also a really great show.
He was actually going to be the protagonist in 47 ronin and Keanu just a side character but the studio didn't like it so they rewrote the whole movie.
So Toranaga Sama knows English after all! What an incredible strategy to fool the English and Portuguese 😮
Commenting about language barriers?! Its not proper !!

I just love this actor. He's incredible
My favorite actor for years!!!
Amazing actor. I appreciate him so much!
真田さん is so very wonderful. ♥️💯🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏
It is (Shōgun) an incredible masterpiece of art.
That practice was well worth it. Shogun is a fantastic program.
Amazing show. I love his performance
They actually built a set for this at the inlet in Port Moody, by Rocky Point.

FX’s #Shōgun is now streaming on Hulu.

I really believe he is my favorite actor by far, such Devine elegance and accuracy, he has much pride and I love him for that
A true Samurai 👍 😊
Outstanding show
You did! You definitively did create great scenes!
What for a great actor! Unbelievable good!
I love Shogun. Especially since I read the book in my youth
值得一看再看的好劇

Living legend.
There is no other actor who is right to play Lord Toranaga except him.
This is an honorary role for him.
Not just an incredible actor, he's also an incredible human being ❤
Espetacular a série !!
Emmys across the board for this show surely
Aww Look he is smiling & proud like for the first time in his life he knows he accomplished something amazing, in this television age it was NEEDED. Thank you sir!

Great scenes... Dude you made a masterpiece
It's BEAUTIFUL show
Best show 🙌
film spektakuler
I love this actor hiroyuki sanada like the last samurai and shogun ang john wick
Such a good actor
Bellissima serie complimenti...
Arguably the best historically accurate and produced TV show in a very long time.
We need season 2 ❤
To think how old he is and he still does basically all of his own stunt work that isn't too crazy
I believe his real life counter part would be around the same age, as tukogawa was around 60 when these events unfolded.
Have seen both shows and both have been very outstanding I am a Figurine artist and can not wait for figures to come out!!
He's so incredible. 😄
The very first time i watched the last samurai he became my favorite representative of samurai and that has not changed
The end of episode 8 took a tear from me. Didn't expect that.
Memoirs of a Geisha did this same thing. *chefs kiss* they had separate “classes” to prepare actors for the roles (dressing, walking, speech, culture, hell even tea making) and it really shows absolutely beautifully in the movie and everything ive seen from shogun looks amazing.

Great show - the main Japanese characters really stood out.
Closest none anime series which represents samurai

How tf does he look so good despite being old and short
Dude made an army
the first time I saw Hiroyuki was in The Last Samurai then Sunshine. then Wolverine i think. then all was history
